Fork seals fine butttt......

Question

First disassemble went without a hinch went to together as hoped...second fork gave me an issue as the inner fork bushing(cupling)on the bottom slid over the outter fork bushing..now i am at a stand still not knowing how to remove the bushing so i can replace the seals and oil and reassemble the front of my 98 vfr...please amy ideas

I've had this happen just once in many fork rebuilds. The thing that worked for me was to get some heat into the fork leg around the upper bushing, and keep pounding away until it broke loose. I used a hot air heat gun (like you'd use to strip paint) and just kept an eye on the paint so it didn't start to blister, and kept rotating the leg to keep things even until it was nice and hot. I did try some penetrating oil prior to this but it didn't help. Hope that works for you.
