  1. Having had the near identical crash in the spring that killed my 5th gen, I so know your pain. Having your front lock up with no warning is a very scary feeling, so glad that your gear worked as well as mine. Hope you can find another ride to come to the meet. Hope you feel better soon.

  2. So far there have been several crashes of bikes with the sliders installed; from slow to very hard lay down, my own bike included.

But like the majority of those that lay their bike down, they really don't want to take and post pics. I will tell you this though, nobody that has laid their bike down with the sliders installed have complained about having them on. I have had nothing but positive responses, but you also have to keep in mind that they are not designed as fairing protectors, they're frame protectors, and a darn good foot rest.

  3. I threw down the bucks for a Sargent. Now I get sore after 100 miles instead of 70. I want to try the bicycle shorts idea. I could ride all week if it werent for more sub-par butt  Also, cotton is the devil!! I learned my lesson on Seb's catskill cruise last year. 200 miles with cotton undershorts...no good

I also bought a Sargent, and I'm in the same situation. I will definitely try some new shorts. Additionally, I have another thread going about Spencer's Seat Modifications......anyone have any experience with this company?

750 miles last Sunday on a Sargent seat, sports undershorts and shirt made it possible.

  4. Well- another set of Radars sliders are going in tonight. Teacherman (Sasha) is coming over shortly - and we're going to install the SLiders from Radar, and a Fender Elim from me.... Hope the beer holds out!!! See if I can take some pics along the way.

    :idea3:

Sleemans on me Ken next time your hear, thank's for helping him out.

  5. Just thought I'd add a reply here. There a couple of companies in Vancouver, BC that import grey market bikes and there are tons of VFR400's around. They generally sell for $3500-5500 Can. and come in tons of different color schemes. I want one for my wife(well, really for me but that's what I'll tell her)

    Ian

Would you by chance have links to these importers

  6. They look great!

Where did you source them and what kind of coil did you have to shell out??

I guess I should have mentioned that, $360 US plus shipping and handleing, from one of our best parts suppliers, who just lost his job, JoeW. Boy did his boss ever F-up!

Wow, for pads and rotors? Not bad at all!!

That would have been nice, but no, rotors only, I already had the pads

  8. A few weeks ago I found myself in the position of having to replace my rotors, the past owner of my bike fried the factory rotors past repair, I attempted to machine them out, but they had been cooked enough that the density of rotor actually varied from one side to the other with a couple hard spots, so a clean cut was not possible, so in otherwords I fubared them.

I looked at both factory and aftermarket, galfers looked great, but were just to pricey, new factory were basically the same price as the EBC contours, so what the hell, try something new, EBC contours and double h pads it is.

I have done the recommended 300km in town break in, with an added 500km trip yesterday, first impressions, WOW, so this is what the brakes are supposed to feel like, from the time that I purchased my bike last fall, I have never felt very comfortable with the brakes, I could never scrub off any corner speed without feeling like I was going to loose the front end, now braking is just so smooooth, with little effort to get quick stops.

I felt that my riding experiece was limited enough that I should get a second opinion on the rotors, so I traded bikes with Terrol 145 whom has a fair amount of bike racing experience (as well rides the same bike, in one of those slower yeller colors). His impressions were the same, much better braking than his own bike, after riding his bike I felt the same way, my bike had the better braking, even though my front end needs new springs and valves.

So if anyone was looking for new rotors, I'd suggest that you give these a good look, as they do look pretty good as well, if I don't say so myself.

If there is interest, I will update in a couple months, just to let you know if the first impressions stick.

  9. I received Radar's sliders in the mail today.

Canada Post is... well... let's just say lacking. Don't want to bash things Canadian.

Customer experience begins with packaging of the parcel. To be honest, I have never seen anything packaged so ...looking for the right word... "exquisite" comes to mind, so I'll stick with it.

The sliders themselves are made with the kind of worksmanship that people usually associate with jewelry. I don't want to go overboard and compare them to jewelry, but honestly, that was the first thing that came to mind when I looked at them.

The install went super smooth with the excepsion of one thing. The inside diameter of the aluminum guides is just a tad small. This causes the drill bit stick inside. I had to remove them and drill them out to size. Otherwise, everything is just as described in Ken's how-to.

Thanks Darren for an amazing product!

A big your welcome, very glad to here you are happy, now hurry up an post a pic, better yet take a picture that shows where you are from with you and your bike and send it to me, I'd like to start a scrap book of everywhere these things go.

  10. I would love to post my thoughts on Radar's sliders but it seems Canada Post wins the sluggishness contest with USPS. According to their website, they've been at the trasfer center in Missasauga (or however the hell it's spelled..) since Tuesday...

Got mine today via Canaduh Snail Mail.... AWESOME PACKING JOB, RADAR!!!

Very high quality, just a few questions...... what are the three bigger flat washers for?

Also, for what it's worth, A brief instruction sheet might have answered this  , and although I went to the start to follow KKens' instructions, I couldn't find the washer locations anywhere.

    Any ideas KK?/Radar?

I think those drilling spacers are gonna make this SCREWPROOF! :salesman:

I'll report on the progress and if you don't hear from me, I will probably be somewhere JUMPING OFF A CLIFF, CUZ I DID SCREW IT

The washers are spacers to go into the sliders before threading onto the arbors should you require them, everyones fairings are a little different and I just wanted to make it convienant for everyone to make adjustments. I thought Kens how to was pretty good, but I guess I should make up a good set of instuctions to go with the kit, I will put it on the to do list for when I catch up. Also to anybody that has purchased my Kit, you are welcome to phone me at work, the number is on the package that I sent you, don't be scared to ask questions.
