  1. So worked a bit on the Bandit, the screen it came whit was tinted as had some cracks that where glued.

    large.IMG_20231216_091143.jpg.ed627cb2b1523d5eb930499748b8a167.jpg

I found a OEM clear (used) on eBay

Much better I think. Also the old screen sure has been thro something as the upper attachment tabs where broken off, so former owner had glued it in place, fortunately whit cheap universal fast glue so nothing broken when taking apart.

  2. Well as you have been reading in a other topic, been busy whit other stuff lately

But I think plan will be to ride it a bit next summer as it is, with orginal fairing, after the carbs are looked thro as got new float chamber o-rings and need to check the rear brake also. will find other parts still needed before starting the fairing conversion...

It is funny that you type that. I feel similar to my GS700ES. I still think it is one of the more handsome motorcycles made to this day...but I may be alone! At least we're not off topic...

I had at some point a 87 GSX550ES that I modified to naked bike for my ex wife, was a fun bike to ride!

Here in the states, you can't give tose ZX7S bikes away. Just too many better choices available.

That 600 will be just great. Congrats!

    Thanks, I hope so to.

I recall a picture of magazine ad's of the time saying let you bandit out of you

    large.image_a-01.jpg.10b5952c01550f49d99c146761c36b42.jpg

    Think it's quite funny

  5. Well some say I change bikes like some trousers 😂 well can be true in a way...

I was disappointed the Africa Twin was not good.

But also started to think that after moving closer to twisty tarmac roads I'm not that after riding gravel roads, the KLE500 is also better as more fun on tarmac than gravel, but the seat is narrow, suspension a bit to soft, so a road bike is better, and the loud exhaust bugged me as silencer was not repackable and a orginal exhaust did not exist for reasonable money. I do however like to get a prime ride that is comfortable for my left knee, the one I killed a deer 2012 whit as I did hit one whit left knee. It has started bother a bit...

So I started a search for a bike whit a comfortable seating position whit a top fairing.

Then I asked for offer's if I gave KLE500 in trade. Found a 03 Kawasaki ZR7S that looked promising and offer for my KLE was ok.

The ZR7S had only had 3 owners and 39K kms on odo

    large.Screenshot_20231123-130607.jpg.1e0e6393e631f0a0094719c12a59bf6d.jpg

Did go and see it but was a disappointment, front tire shoot, dirty like not washed in years and rear wheel had loads of chain muck, corrosion here as there, front brake did feel odd and clutch was heavy to pull even reviews say it's light, carb inlet rubbers had small cracks....even the blue paint was nice, it was a walk away.... Former owner had just not cared for the bike....

So nearby that was a shop that had a tidy looking 2001 Suzuki Bandit 600S, and he offered even better for my KLE! The bike was sure nice, 52k kms, just have had a full service including valve clearance check. Orginal aside front indicators, front screen as clutch/brake levels. So whit a money of 400€ in between I pulled the trigger 🙈😊

  6. Well might be that a circle ends.... might... awaiting informatoin if front sprocket axle is ok on this 1991 Africa Twin 750

    large.1295ae4176f7a713-large.jpg.6d662e367ed5ca87398fe850e13b21c3.jpg

if it is this will most likely move to my garage, and the KLE leave as a trade. Offer is I get 40% more for the KLE in trade value compare to what I paid for it! And get a Africa Twin again, even a older RD04 compare to the RD07 I had, and sure not the lovely Tricolor (RWB), but is the second best color (aside the 3 different RWB that was offered) the RD04 had, and the only aside the RWB I could think of to have. But fingers crossed, hope to know more next week.....

I once bought a LHS Remus for redslut...

Turned out it was one for a 3rd gen, and that meant chopping one of the centre stand mounting points.

The muffler was stamped with "not for public roads" or so.

    IT WAS 'FFING LOUD!!

Well this is same category even the "not for public roads " stamp is missing 😅

  8. Well not much has happened because after the bike wash I got a bad back and after that busy making new electricity to my house and it's still going on, but soon things will happen. Thro I can't decide if I will just get a NC24 front wheel or put the cbr1000f fork I have on it 🤔

  9. Well sometimes you get lucky!

A friend of mine that has not been working on bikes for 10+ years but before that built working bikes from damaged as street fighters to did go and digg in his storage and found what you see in next picture and did give me them for free!

Well if you have seen my other topic in Europe section, I have been slowly bringing life to the friends KLR600, so guess it's a thanks for that.

You can fit an RC36 sprocket cover and the speedo drive. I'm not too sure if the existing cable will fit or you'll need an RC36 one.

You'll also need the clutch pushrod though (original is too short) and although I'm not entirely certain what the setup is on the early RC24 (all the part numbers are different to the later one) the RC36 has a longer output shaft so either an extra long head bolt or a longer adaptor and there TBH I'd 3D print one... https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4568948/files

Speedo will almost certainly be "out" though because the gearing will be wrong.

Other alternative is do the same but fit a VFR800 electronic speedo drive and an electronic speedo.

Thanks for this input. I did try this route on my 87 RC24 I had back in the days but one of the mounting bolts will not line up. I had the cover made slimmer to avoid the longer clutch push rod as keep the distance to sprocket the same. Eventually I sold the parts before testing as I sold the RC24 to buy a 5th gen.

The 4th gen also use a electric speedometer.

Is getting F3 forks and wheel and F3 rear wheel (5.0x17).

So how will you make the Odo drive work whit the F3 front wheel?

Interested in that way as I have a cbr1000F (SC24) fork around as a CBR 900 RR front wheel that doesn't have the Odo drive even the early had. I just like the look whit smaller front wheel.....I know the 17" is more common as more easy to get tires for....

  12. Well, I have to say the Remus exhaust on the KLE is to Loud for my liking, sadly,

    large.IMG_20230805_184053.jpg.0667279b4c3887c308e8ae9d1430e94e.jpg

The muffler looks like it's not easily opened for service.

It does have a db killer but sounds it's whit out backing inside

    large.IMG_20231015_133907.jpg.83511cf91973dafdca86381b05269c85.jpglarge.IMG_20231015_133940.jpg.2d1a2ccea17879dcd9d1440f47478cf5.jpg

But decided to take it off to see what can be done, but didn't start good as you will see in next picture.....

    large.IMG_20231016_151648.jpg.3d2df1d7867b2d60390adfee2aae9326.jpg

Has been there a while, also muffler still not off ....

  13. Well the test run have to wait as it's pouring rain outside and I don't want to run the bike inside. But there is other stuff you can do, like start the repair of the tail section

    large.IMG_20231007_081919.jpg.c60de45af77c667fd92bd9002bf154c4.jpglarge.IMG_20231007_081906.jpg.9a7e53fbd23d7f2fe5c52f4969c2805f.jpg

As typical for the RC24, it cracks above the tail light in front end, did use aluminum mosquito nets that I melt into the plastic whit a soldering iron

    large.IMG_20231007_081934.jpg.8bb6f5ba39f915a5cc8cda68bcf93e32.jpg

    Seems to work well 😊

  14. Well the pulse generators are mounted

    large.IMG_20231002_083636.jpg.ff59d20f18e5547af5165e1f2bc7c749.jpg

Oil in engine after clutch cover mounted whit old gasket as sealant.

Sadly the rear carburators started  leaking again (like as I picked up the bike, did not leak next day) so have to wait to tomorrow (sadly moved to weekend) to see if bike run longer than getting warm.

    large.IMG_20231002_120630.jpg.27f1925a6b18f8c36075a1a408595623.jpg

Needs new O-rings for float chambers for sure. Strange the clutch cover seems to hold tight where's the oil plug is leaking even has new cuppar washers 🤔

  15. Finally made time to synk the carbs on KLE. And before that did pot O-rings under needle to give it more fuel as needles not adjustable.

    large.IMG_20231001_123038.jpg.8d982024985cd66aa3f147ac4af8dfba.jpglarge.IMG_20231001_123034.jpg.772f5638ba09681a662829dd0c35ae07.jpg

After that did a test ride that did show it runs good enough, perhaps a tad lean still but ok for now.

    large.IMG_20231001_143434.jpg.a030cc1fa51de56fcc3c2dcb0f9c5577.jpglarge.IMG_20231001_143443.jpg.59abfcce0773064c502104e4f0a66681.jpg

    Great fall weather for sure!

And bike sure ride well and whit this bike no need to avoid paved roads in no so good condition or gravel roads.

  16. Got some percels yesterday

    large.IMG_20230930_092227.jpg.eceabc66697ac7df3b52e2b82da4c167.jpg

Whit some parts for the RC24.

    large.IMG_20230930_093359.jpg.d1ea1e2ddb76fce2d811b2aa651de8a6.jpg

Got a little greedy and now I have 2sets of pulse generators, hopefully one set works, better both so I have a spare set.

Thanks very much for the 86 us clock's V4Rosso! And the fairing inners that was missing from the bike I bought, well these are of a 88-89 bike, so slightly different, upper mouth match but not lower but they will work 🙂
