  1. I've got about 5000 miles on mine now. I started out with the controller mounted up front in the fairing, but oil was going all over my tire. I suspected this was EMI, so I redid the EMI tests, and discovered that it was indeed still getting EMI at certain times, though not continuously. I eventually gave up on any mounting locations in the front of the bike, because none of them were completely EMI free. I moved the controller box to a spot on the outside of the tail, where it is protected and partially hidden by the Givi Wingrack. Since then, I have been 100% free of EMI.

However, oil continues to get flung in too high of quantity, and it ends up on the edge of my tire. I've dialed it down to 1, but I think I'm going to actually go back into the programming and switch it to one of the columns that puts out even less oil. I may also look into some chainguard mods - I think if my chain guard was an inch or two longer at the back, it might help with this issue.

I like the maintenance free aspect; the chain has stayed well lubed, and I've done absolutely no fiddling except when I've been doing regular oil changes. If I can just clear up the pesky oil-on-tire issue, I think I will be happy with the Pro-Oiler.

The other two oilers put more oil on my garage floor, and are requiring more fiddling, but neither has oiled the tire. I'm not considering any of them out of the running just yet!

I am in the same situation....I love my Pro-Oiler, and while not getting any EMI, and I getting some oil on the tire and have it dialed down to 1. I have been meaning to program it back on table but have not gotten around to it.

  2. Hmmm...

So, I've only had it on for a day, and I have been running it basically wide open...

But, are you guys seeing a lot of fling INFRONT of your sprocket on the Swingarm (basically all over the nozzle)?

In addition to all that fling there, my chain seems kinda dry on the actual rollers, and black grease still on the links...

I had gotten mine going this past Saturday morning, and I ran it all weekend basically on setting 3 of Table 17....and yes I did notice oil in the exact spot you mention....my rollers looked wet though, but the links are still dirty..

  3. What setting did you finally wind up on? I left mine on the default and it looked like Table 17, setting 3 was a little too much...of course that could be because i didn't properly clean the chain and ended up with globs of grease coming off it...I backed it off a little for the time being..

It will do that for a while until the chain becomes clean. I think the default settings are pretty good. I've run mine about 10,000 miles now. We have had a fair amount of wet and rain this winter so the weekend before last was my first long highway run in dry weather. I did 800 miles in two days, with some short stretches over 100mph. I discovered that the #3 setting is a bit high for extended highway runs in dry weather. I just started turning mine down to 2.

Thanks....Most of the weekend was some highway stuff soo..... maybe I'll do what I can and help clean the chain..it's fairly new so it has some of the thick stuff on it that elizilla mentions. But the sprocket is nice and clean right now...those were new as well.

  4. YAAAAAA!

I FINALLY got it all working.

It wasn't picking up the speedo sensor. Thats when I figured out that the "Posi-Tap" wasn't quite as "posi" as it appeared. The little needle deflected and missed the core of the pink wire. Take it apart, try again and blam! No problems. And no EMI.

Installed a vista-cruise while I was at it. Now I can be double extra lazy!

  5. Another satisfied customer here. The R/R on my 99 was dying and Tightwad walked me through the diagnosis. Ordered a new R/R and harness from him, he shipped promptly, and then answered my questions on the install.

I can't say thanks enough for all the help. If you even THINK you might need/want an upgrade/replacement, check with Tightwad first!

Seriously +1 to this! I ordered the VFRness and his fuse panel about a week ago. I haven't had any issues with the R/R, but I know it's a problem area...I had seen the posts about adding a wire here and there, and I have technical ability to do it myself...but with all the kind words Tightwad has received over this was enough for me to just pay him for the harness....and it was worth every penny....in time saved and eased of installation. I had a couple of questions and Tightwad emailed me right back with concise easy to follow answers.... if (fingers crossed) my R/R ever goes...I know I will be going to Tightwad for the new one.
