Tony i have the Xena disklock with alarm
No cable but dont need it (its loud enough)
Where'd you get yours & how much$$?
-
It'll be a little while before I do the whole pack job & will have to figure everything out as I go, but I'll post a pick when it's done.
There was a thread here last year with a list of the best things to pack for a trip. Have to pull that out.
-
BONUS! Just spoke with a buddy here who has a tent, which he's used for bike camping many times, that he's lending me for the trip.
Nice. Now to pick up the cable lock and such.
Would love to find a disc lock with cable and built in alarm. Here goes a new search.
Thanks again for all helpful tent links. Bookmarked them all.
-
Wow! Thanks for all the information and links. Saved me too much time of just searching tents.
Appreciate the personal reviews. Ease of use and a small travel size, a vestibule, good rain protection & solid form are key.
Liking to keep the price well below $100 as I'm not a big camper dude and it'll probably go into storage for the rest of the year once I get back.
Plenty of research through those links to do.
I'll have to find a light-medium bag to sleep in. Again, space saving on the bike is the thing. Also, I'll have to look at a cable lock,
to lock the bike to the tent when done for the day.
vfrcapn, I'm not exactly planned for where. A friend here has shown me picks of Utah that were quite cool.
I was thinking New Mexico, Grand Canyon / Arizona, then working up through S. Cali, Oregon and back to BC.
Minimum 2 weeks, maximum ?????

Nice unit. book marked. Thanks sPOTO, Looks like what I want, but can I get it for 1/2 price?
I'm not cheap, I'm just cheap.
Doug, where'd you get your cheap tent?
-
Considering I'm doing who knows how many miles beyond the trip to Dillon
side bar (wife says, why don't you just go for as long as you want? Just go. . . . ) end side bar - no questions please
I'm looking for a decent quality, not too terribly expensive (willing to buy en route in US) tent that I can:
- put up and pack up quickly
- offers good fly protection and ventalation
- packs up small, tight & light
I've searched the sight and found good reviews on the Kelty Grand Mesa 2, but at $200US it's a bit much for my meager plans.
Any and all input appreciated.

Thanks for the notice and my thoughts will be with you. Of course, you never know if a crazy Canadian will just hop on the bike and go????
-
Nice work. Now, show me how to hollow out the rear section (no pillion) and make a sold form so I can create a trunk space
without losing the form of the seat for myself & I'll not only be really impressed, but I'll send you my seat too.
-
Ya, go Dude! Checking NAPA this afternoon too.
-
Yes, I found it, thanks.
Already sent a PM to a few looking for those who have 92 or so left over from their 100 pk purchase. I only need 5-10.
Also, I'm spying right now through Veefer800Canucks image gallery looking for the missing images.
I'll look forward to getting your extra fairing screws too.
Cheers!

Thank you. Ah, to pick greater minds than mine.

I'll be stripping my plastics and trucking the bike down to the dealer in the next few weeks for this. They called me last Nov. to confirm that they would order the harness upon confirmation of an appoinment time.
I wonder a couple of things:
1/ If they are doing the harness, that it may be good time to update my '04 to clear lenses front and back?
2/ With the discussion of thermostat issues of late, would this be a good time to have them replace it, even though I've had no problems?
3/ How insulted would you be, if I came to your shop with 1 & 2, but said I already have the parts (purchased during winter)?
-
Where did you pick up your clear lenses from?
Doesn't look a day over 2 - Nice.
-
Looks great. How is the visibilty to the rear? Just received my Lobster extenders and wanting to do the Rivcyko LED trick, but I have
always liked the idea of the mirror signals. Wiring? Just simple inline splicing or some other trickery.
Now you can swap out the lower lights for engine vents
-
George, that is looking very slick! Like everyone else, I'm waiting patiently for the finished assembly.
I took your advice and put on new grips and the vista cruise. Wow what a difference.
We have a new shop just opened here, now the dealer for Duccatti and BMW (1098 in the front)
They have a Dyno! I ordered a PCIII as well, so looking forward to getting dialed in. There'll be much to talk about this
year at the VFRD PNW RM Meet. Are you still meeting us in Yakima?
I hope to keep up with you a little better this year, just to watch the bike shimmer. Again, nice choice (especially getting paid!)
-
but it looks a little too clark griswald for me.
Alright Superfunk,
Just for that, you're sleeping on the floor in August! With the wet sandwiches and the dead granny. <_<
-
Rivcyko,
In appreciation and anticipation, I would like to ask (for the electrically inept like me) if you could add a quick little bit on the best
how and where to wire up the LED's. Ordered my set from Lobster and wanting to do the same set up.
The video was a great and really sets the front off nicely - anything for better visability without gaudy is aces!
Thanks again for the great ingenuity and offerings to the rest of us out here who glom off your creativity.
EDIT: uh, never mind and thanks for the above. I should have waited 1 more minute.
-
Having said that, I must add that you did a really nice job with your phony, fake, stick-on vinyl carbon-fibre-look stuff. But why didn't you try it with fake wood grain??!
You mean like Burlwood? Then it would look too much like a BMW and my turn indicators would stop working.
Thanks for the complement. Comming from you (as tough as it is for ya) it means alot.

Boy I'm tempted! Especially that my bike is all apart. I am not sure I can do as good a job as you did.
Well, ya know Stephane. When I come down I am going to be using your talents, so I'll just cut another piece from the template
and we'll pop your dash off, do it up and let it sit over night. Right as rain in the morning. Your call dude.
I'll get the Sleeman!
I'll start cutting.
By the way, thanks to everyone for the comments. Was a little worried at first but like any other mod, it only gets better from here.

Not neccessarily, by using a hair dryer the plstic becomes more plyable and folds around steep angles too.
Exactly. When applying any decal, vinyl or 3M style product, heat is your friend big time. I just put 3M headlight protectors on
yesterday with the same little hair dryer. It doesn't take much.
The CF vinyl has a heat activated glue. It gives a 'little' forgivness when initially positioning, but a quick 15 second shot on low
and you can actually see it start to suck to the surface and into the contours so nice. Going around the tach circle was the hardest
part, as there is only so much you can do before it starts to stress. All in all, I'm happy with it and like I said, don't have to see that
little gouge when glancing down at 80k (officer).
-
I picked up a huge sheet a few years ago from a decal shop that was closing out.
I'd be more than happy to cut you a good size piece and ship over to you.
I also kept the stencil from the dash and side pieces, except they are for a 6th gen.
PM me if you have any interest. Thanks for the comments too.

WARNING: the images you are about to see are not real carbon fibre. Trace, do not take offence to these images.
I had my friend in England look everywhere possible and to no avail, couldn't find the dash treatment kit that wash
shown here some time ago. So, want something I couldn't have, I decided to make my own.
Now the whole purpose for this was to deal with the several scratches and gouge from the PO of the bike.
Having done some practice work last year (battery and accesory covers on side) and being somewhat happy with the
results, this winter I took on the guage panel. I'm happy with it and best of all, I don't have to look at the gouge anymore.
Here is the panel shot, showing the major gouge on the left of the tach.

After some plastic repair and tracing out (no pun intended) the pattern,

here's how it turned out.

I am still putting things back together. So once we actually get some sun and all her clothes are on, I'll update with another shot.
