  1. I may have to through my catless headers on now!

DUDE! Are your referring to the ones I sold you a few years ago? Do you mean to tell me that you never ever put them on?

    You lazy sonuva.......... :goofy:

As the originator of this mod  , I've always wondered what kind of gains it made besides a faster revving engine and louder exhaust.

At the 2003 VFRevolt, Baileyrock and I did some rollons. I had the catless headers installed along with a tfi box and bafflectomied stock mufflers. We did a few 2nd gear rusn and we were about even so I thought the better sound and lighter weight were the chief benefits of the mod. It was months later that I realized I'm limp wristed sissy boy when it comes to a roll on. I only roll it to about 7 or 8/10th's throttle. DOH!!! Kinda' like a biological rev limiter.

If we would have switched bikes, I believe Kevin would have walked on me good but the thought didn't cross my mind to swap since we are about equal weight and there were too many good roads to ride.

  2. WOW, that dude is in for over a $1k USD for an OEM rear wheel. Granted he'll probably be the only the VFR rider in the world with one and that's way cool but getting marchesini's or the like which GREATLY lessen unsprung weight and would have been money better spent IMO.

Now let's look at it from a posers point of view on display at the local hangout: What's more street cred: A carbon fiber OZ wheel or an OEM NR750 unit? hmmmm?

  3. Did you have any similar deals with the hose orientation? I was afraid to crank on the fittings to rotate them.

No, I was experimenting with the first cbr900 shock install. No hoses there.

I do have a wilbers on my vtec. I run it to the left and hang it on the pass. peg just like yours but with the hoses behind it.

  4. Didn't Doug know what spring it had or were there any numbers on it ?

I don't recall what or even if it had any number on it. I could only go by what the ebay seller told me. I do know that it work mighty fine on my superhawk which requires an even higher spring rate than the vfr but I weighed about 175 so I had no problems with getting proper sag, compliance, or bottoming. FWIW.

  5. Shouldn't this topic be in the mods forum? Why limit it to 6th gen only? The best cheap mods work on most any bike; fer instance....

Pair valve mod. You can buy block off plates ($$) or you can remove the hose from the pipe on the valve cover, plug pipe with an appropriate sized cork, and refit hose. Done.

FYI, the pair valves admit additional air (oxygen) to the exhaust for improved emissions but adds pops/unbalanced sound to the exhaust on trailing throttle.
