The 90-93 8 spoke wheel is 17x5.5 same as the 98-09 5 spoke.
Only the 94-97 5 spoke is narrower at 17x5.0
If you have already been given the tires, yes they will work. A 180 would be optimal though. You will not be able to used all the tread of the 190 to the edges.
But it will fit, and it will work. No benefit, other than free.

An unfortunate beginning to what has become a great thing over the years. Was honored to be able to attend last year.

Put a marble in the hoses for the PAIR system. Done.

Can't speak for Seb, but I certainly do have a preference.
Stainless all the way Vs aluminum.

Moved topic to "Electrical".

The Bartery?
Ok, I'll give you half a pack of chewing gum, an empty tin of Altoids, and a snow shovel.
Deal?

Yep, low tires will make your bike handle like a wheelbarrow full of wet cement.
I've lost count of how many random motorcycles I've seen at gas stations with tires that were visibly half flat.
Scarey-O!

Thou Shat Not leave Me Bike unattended...If I parked that bike overnight anyplace, it would only be with an armed guard and a Rottweiler standing next to it.
That is absolutely beautiful work.

Or random Canadians in Silly Hats might caress it.
I'd like to correct the impression that VFR800FI linked brakes are inferior. MCN publishes top ten statistics for several measurements. For 60 > 0 mph stopping distances, VFR800FIs are in the top 10 at ~ 108.x ft. Most mc magazines consider numbers around 120 ft. to be great. There have been several instances when I thought I'd be eating the bumper of the emergency-braking vehicle in front of me when I subsequently found that I had several feet to spare.
While these numbers are achieved by experts and I'm positive I'd never achieve them, relatively speaking, I have much confidence in the brakes of my '01 s.
You'll need 'em for the Deer Slalom and Brake competition.

The swingarms are similar but not the same. Look at where the cutaway for the chain meets the crease in the two pics.
In the top pic, it ends right there, in the bottom pic, they never meet, and the lower crease keeps going back.

Very nice. Keep it coming.

So a 74mm bore gets 826cc's yes?
So not quite 6% increase.
All else being equal, that comes to about 112 Hp with no other modifications besides the bore job. (guess)
Cost/benefit seems to be kinda low. I'm still interested to watch, and see what the results are.

wait a sec.........
600 bones for Freddie Spencer's magnesium rear wheel, but only 500 US Dollars for an ally kickstand?
please.
I think Larry is including his time/effort to carve the sidestand out of a solid block.

Those are the Darth Bling mirror mounts, made long ago, no longer available.
Custom run machine work.

He doesn't just work on it all the time either, he rides the crap out of it, street and track, and occasionally even tests it's ability to lay down.
Don't believe him on the swingarm cost though. He poached that thing off Ebay without the seller being aware of what it was. Thought it was just an ordinary VFR swingarm, not the real HRC team race piece that it was.
Excellent find Larry. I'd have hit the "Buy It Now" button just as fast as you did, if I had an RC45. LOL.

Weight loss off the bike is expensive. Just ask Mohawk.
Results are excellent, just not cheap nor easy.
Remove the centerstand and add an aftermarket pipe. After that is gets spendy real fast.

Interesting.....

Mine are greyimg somewhat on the stalks.
At the first sign of corrosion, I painted the bolt heads using some black spray paint squirted into the lid, and a cotton swab.
I usually do all the non-OEM Allen head bolts on my bike like this. They are parkerized (phosphate coated) which does offer some corrosion protection, but it's not great, so a little paint on the bolt heads is the trick.

The frame and swingarm are NOT the same between 5th and 6th gens.

I like the White best.

I always put some blue locktite on the axle threads and 46mm nut, in addition to the correct torque and staking the nut at the divot in the axle.
Have yet to lose one!
-
Yes, a thin coating of grease over the axle surfaces will save a lot of grief later on.
Of course, none on the threads. I used a bit of blue locktite on the 46mm nut, in addition to staking it in place at the indent on the axle.
(see the other thread about people's sprockets falling off, but not mine!)
Vfr848Rr Anyone ?

If I were independently wealthy, I would have been all over one of those kits like white on rice.
Unfortunately, reality intrudes, and it's a bit hard to spend 5k on a supercharger kit for a bike worth maybe $3500.
Not that I think the kit was overpriced, on the contrary, for what he delivered, and compared to turbo kits currently on the market for Gixxer 1000s and ZX-14s and Busas, it was well priced.
