5th gens are just two wires. Out of all the bike coils I searched on ebay, the 6th gen vfr's were the only 3 prong coils.
-
It never stops, does it? Moving onto my next project. Since I don't feel like modifying the 6th gen airbox, I'm just going to go this route.

He'll probably say, "You so crazy."
Anybody found a '06 FSM on the web yet? I wanna see the schematics.

Or if you want to go to the extreme of modding basically the entire electrical system on the bike, why not look into a Microsquirt working in tandem with the factory ECU?
Just curious - how would this be an improvement over the PCV and AutoTune modules he already has fitted? Seems like he has complete control over A/F ratio and fueling, except for a few anomalies here and there.
Forgive me if I'm not reading this correct, but about a month ago I bought a 2002 Non ABS CPU thinking that my CPU bit the dust. It did not so I have an extra CPU I'd be willing to sell you for what I bought it for 100 dollars.Pretty sure he is fitting the 2006+ ECU specifically for the improvements it has over the 2002-2005 units - he talks about it a bit in the first post.
There's almost nothing you can't do with megasquirt. It's fully customizable down to each injector. You get to do what those high dollar paid people get to do. It is a lot of work though.

Where there more physical sensors added to the engine on the '06+? If not, then I don't see why you couldn't just straight up use a '06+ harness and ecu and been done.

US models low beams are on all the time if thats what you are talking about.

I got my popcorn out. I just did a test run with my '01 now with an '07 throttlebody system (still '01 ecu). Just gotta fine tune now.
-
Got em in.

It's all good. It's 100F here regular here during the summer and stop and go traffic doesn't help. During the winter I just watch my temp gauge and just block off until the temp holds as high as possible.

Well ya'll are not fun.

Here's a cheap RC51 cooler on ebay. The seller has it listed for a 6th gen. LOL
-
I bought a Ryobi HID spot light. The bulb does produce a lot of heat (not sure if it's a 35w or 55w) and the lens is plastic. Also the bulb is very close to the lens.

I think I'm gonna go with these since they're the same price as the non-flip ones.
I'm thinking of getting the gold ones to match the front rotors. I was thinking black, but everyone does that and the red ones aren't always true red and there's plenty of red already on this bike.

Well. My baby tumped over as I was taking her off the side stand and my clutch lever snapped in half. I might as well get something "cooler" and all that. Not looking at spending a whole lot because I was never going to replace the stockers.
My main worry is getting a right pair that'll work since we have hydraulics on both sides.

These chinese projector kits seem to be pretty good. Plus they're a lot smaller than those OEM ones out of vehicles.
Pg1 and pg 11 have good pics.
5th gen headlights are one of the holy grails to find used and at a decent price. I'll just have to wait it out on one of those. I am keeping my eye out for a headlight assembly for my ER-6N. It'll looks great with those angel eyes.

These still working ok for you?

Back in May I went on a 6 day trip and filled the vfr up with Rotella T6 for the first time without even putting test miles on the engine with it. Went through 5 states with varying temps and lots of gear shifting. Didn't use a drop of it. I was able to snatch up 8 jugs of it @ $14.99 a pop. That's a lot better than paying $26 retail. I plan on sending off the old oil for testing.

I thought he was just talking about the mid pipe and cans.
Would like to know what the price would be to have a set made with regular exit port position. I'm sure high but a number thrown out just so we can know.
-
Ya know. You could be super cool and find a machinist/exhaust guy to copy those lovely pipes since no one makes any more for us. I'm sure some would like to have a set.
-
Who here has two thumbs and is jealous? Yea. That would be me.
Man. I'd love a bigger set of pipes.
-
If you're just gonna throw away your PCV and autotune, you can always put them in a bottle and let them float my way. I'll put them to good use.
-
I was thinking of getting one but didn't like the price. Guess this gives me another reason to wait.
-
Here's the 5th gen.
-
Instead of a long hose being the reservoir, I'd get a brake fluid reservoir or something in that nature.
5th gen "coil on plug" setup.

Ya, these Denso's (without flap seals) are used on just about anything. The ones on my ER-6N look exactly like the ones used on other kawa bikes and gsxr 1000's. I was google imaging them and a lot of four banger import engines use them too. All look the exact same.
These new model gsxr's have the slick looking metal mid sections. It's bling you can't see. LOL
