  1. PCV 2002-2005 catless map. 46-48mpg highway

    View File

This map is for the 2002-2005 VFR800. mods are K&N filter snorkel mod, 1999 catless headers, stock mufflers completely gutted, and the 02 delete or optimizers. Runs very smooth and gets around 48mpg on the highway. I'm going to be checking the WOT fueling when my wideband gets here. The current 100% fuel setting is from a dyno tuner in wisconsin but I want to check it for myself. I also have the acc pump activated sensitivity 65.9  30 revs and 15% fuel.. Took it to the 1/8 mile strip with this and ran a 7.40 at 101 and that was my first time running it at the track. I will update the WOT fueling after I get the wideband.

  2. Just wondering what you guys are using for the setting on the accel pump on the power commander 5? I have been playing around with it but am not really sure what setting to go with. Just for fun I set the sensitivity to 65 and 30 rev and 15% enrichment. I'm taking the bike to the strip this coming weekend and have been doing a little test runs and it seemed to bog just a little off the line with the accel pump not activated. Just took it for a test again with the pump settings listed above and it really helped the off line bog. But from what I have seen on the web most people are running the sensitivity 80 or 90. What do you guys run for settings? Thanks

  3. I ran mine for a while with the stock cat gutted. It ran fine with no issues at all as long as you use the original O2 sensors. Now if you ever want to delete the O2s by using the resisters or optimizers you WILL need a power commander. I know this first hand. Long story short I bought a set of 1999 headers that have no cat and used the O2 simulators and it was so rich it was unreal. When deleting the O2s it put the bikes ecm into a base map mode which it about 12.1 to 1 across the board. Horrible gassy and exhaust covered in soot. Driving easy I got about 32mpg. I ended up getting the power commander and set the auto tune to 13.5 in the low RPMs and cruise area and it was amazing. Engine is so smooth and exhaust is clean. Runs so much better. On a 100 miles trip the other day I got just at 42mpg. I've been dialing in the tune better every day. so if you don't want the expense of a power commander then leave the O2s hooked up.

  4. Hey guys. I have an 02 vfr800. Mods are 1999 catless header and gutted mufflers and flapper mod and K&N air filter. I have the power commander 5 installed with the 02 optimizers. As far as running it runs great so today I turned on my auto tune and just let it tune the cruise area from 5% to 20% throttle from 3750 to 5750. I am running the cozy may from here. My cruise AFRs are set to 13.5 to 13.6 in the cruise area. Just went for a ride to see what it would trim out at and was really surprised how much it pulled out to get it to the commanded fuel. I have looked at a ton of maps and they all look a ton richer than what mine trimmed out at in that area. I'm gunna try to post my map after the auto tune so you can see all the fuel it pulled in the cruise area. Just seem like the cozy may is way too rich or something for my bike. Look at my cruise area and you can see what the auto tune did to the cozy map. I knew it was rich because of how much soot was on my exhaust pipes but didn't expect to be this rich. What do you guys think of this?

  5. Hey guys I have been playing around with fuel maps on my pc5 and really haven't found one for my mods. I'm running the 1999 catless headers with gutted stock mufflers and the BMC air filter. I found alot of maps for using the stock headers and gutted cat headers but not much for the 99 headers. Anybody happen to have anything a little more close? I'm running the cozy map currently and it runs pretty good but it looks like it is for the use of the stock cat and header.

  6. Hey guys I gutted my stock cat a while back on my bike and got my power commander all dialed in and it's running great. Well I scored a 99 catless header for cheap which I hear is better because of the larger head pipes. Do you think this will mess up my tune that I am running for the stock header and gutted cat? I'm hoping it won't need much if any tuning changes done because it took forever to get it running perfect. What do ya all think?

  7. 2002 vfr800 dyno tune map for power commander V

    View File

This is a map that was set up on a dyno in Wisconsin. I leaned it out a little in the cruise area. It's set up for a catless header with the flapper air box mod and K&N air filter and using the O2 optimizers. I got this from the tuner I bought my power commander 5 from. Seems to run very smooth and pulls hard.

So are you going to put the gutted headers back on and try again with the engine at the correct temp?

Yes I put it back on and ran it longer to get the engine up to temp better. It was so cold that day the bike had trouble getting up to temp at highway speeds. It ran great! As for power gains I have no idea but I can say it didn't lose any. It seemed to pull a bit harder in the upper RPMs. The best part is that it sounds so deep through the exhaust. Not alot louder than before but deeper. Almost like an old big block chevy or ford V8. I have the mufflers gutted as well. Currently still running the O2 sensors as well with no FI light or anything.

  9. well it was fine the other day when it was 60 out. I just looked at the temp outside now and it 34 degrees. I went for a drive again and this time let it warm up by driving slower and it got to 165. Now it runs fine. I let it cool off a bit to see at what temp the vtec will kick in and it looks about 150 degrees. I feel stupid now. Didn't know it had to be a certain coolant temp to allow vetec to work. This is my first Honda I have ever owned and just bought it last week. I guess this is how ya learn. haha

  10. I put my stock exhaust back on. It still doesnt run right. It's like the vtec doesn't kick in. I read somewhere that the coolant temp has to be so high or it won't work. Is this true? It's about 40 degrees here so it's pretty cold. My coolant temp was running about 135. Is it just not warmed up enough since it's so cold outside?

  11. Hey guys I has a spare stock header for my 02 vfr800 so I thought I would try gutting the stock cat on the spare system. Got it done to swapped the headers lastnight and was able to take it for a spin thismorning. Sounds pretty tough but it killed the power. The two short wide open bursts I did it felt like a dog and would not even rev past 10k. I do have a power commander coming in the mail but I'm going to put my original header with the cat back on. I'm sure may have wondered how it would run without the cat on stock tuning and now I can telll you. haha. Glad I only paid 20 bucks for the spare header. It was worth it just to see what it would do. I'm sure tuning it on a dyno would probably fix the issue but to me it's not worth the cost. So if you want to gut the cat I would say don't do it unless you have a spare header around that you got for free or little to nothing. Stock going back on so I hope this info will help others that was wondering the same thing as I was. Cheers.
