  1. Yup, I live in a great area of of Manitoba for riding ... all along the Eastern part of Manitoba (North and South) is gorgeous terrain to ride. Up north in the Parkland Region (Riding Mountain National Park, Duck Mountains, The Pas, Assessippi) is also beautiful country to ride. Then down along the entire US border is the escarpment / Pembina Valley .... amazing country (this is the area I hunt in). The TransCanada between Winnipeg and Medicine Hat sucks though.
  2. Excellent! I'll let you know my plans as we get closer - that sounds like a blast though. :) NW Ontario is a gorgeous ride along the top of the lakes! If you go stateside ... Michigan's UP has some incredible riding (H-58 is amazing) as does NE Minnesota (Highway 1 is super twisty technical). The stretch between Winnipeg and Medicine Hat leaves much to be desired though. LOL

My current ride. I picked it up and rode it home 3 weeks after my accident with my black one August 5, 2015. The new bike had 9,800km on it when I picked up up at the dealer. It was traded in by the original owner to the dealership.
  4. @superfunkomatic Did I miss the t-shirt design somewhere in the previous posts? Please excuse my ignorance and point me to the right posts if you have ... I'm from Manitoba, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. @jfviffer That looks about right from what I've seen / heard about Randy so far. ;)
  5. Would be great if there was a fire pit ... that's my favourite thing to do after riding all day and camping ... enjoy some wobbly pops around the fire and recount the days events.
  6. Hell yeah, that's an incredible deal - that's what I'm talkin' about right there! More beer money! Do they have a fire pit on site for us to have some wobbly's around at night? @Randy ... which way are you heading back home? I'm thinking I might take a few extra days and visit family in Kelowna for a day.
  7. I'm willing to do the same by arranging a group convoy for those in Manitoba, Minnesota, North Dakota, and Saskatchewan or NW Ontario.
  8. Thanks for the great suggestions! I have friends in Creston and Fernie so I might take the Medicine Hat - Lethbridge - Nelson route down #3 That said, I also have friends in Calgary. If I decide to overnight in and around the Calgary area (and I don't stay with friends in Calgary), what's a good campground with hot showers and firewood? I love camping by motorcycle - some of the best ways to meet cool / new people. :)
  9. @Randy - Maybe rjgti has a 'honey-do' list he needs to finish first? @MaxSwell - Randy is pretty old, and he gets cranky too .... :)
  10. You're not THAT old .... I think. ;) My planned route is exactly as you've noted ... down to Lethbridge from Medicine Hat ... then Crowsnest to Nelson. Same route I take when snowboarding. I'm still working on rjgti ... I think he needs to get a permission slip as well. :)
  11. Yah, it's pretty wide open and straight, very much like ND and MT ... your dollar will go further that's for sure. It's OK ... I'm no spring chicken either, and if we can rjgti to come as well, he's not either! :) Let me know either way ... we have lots of time to figure it out. I'll likely be doing a Black Hills trip in early June as well.

I've never seen so many bugs on my way home from Saskatoon with the new bike. At one point, I was pulling over every 15 minutes or less to wipe my visor because I couldn't see out of it. Insane. It was late August - temperatures dipped lower than I expected and I was running way behind on my trip home from all visiting I had done which made it worse. I was shivering uncontrollably at times and would have to stop for 20-30mins at a time at various Tim Hortons between Regina and Winnipeg. To make things worse, I was still nursing significant injuries in my left foot after only being in my collision 2-3 weeks earlier. To this date, my foot is still being treated but it's getting better slowly ... It was a fun a very memorable ride.

I met up with rjgti and his VFR in Regina, SK on my way back home to MB from picking up my new bike at the dealer. Hell of a nice guy and a great looking bike he has!
