I found an ebay sell for some NT650 clip-ons that said he had used them on his 99 VFR and they were a decent alternative for the heli bars so I decided "why not?". I installed them tonight and they look pretty decent. The riding position is a lot better. Up at least an inch and a half and back just a touch. The only issue so far is the throttle is binding at the very far right stop. I rarely hit that stop except when pushing around in a parking lot so I am not sure how worried I am. The throttle cable is pretty much already adjusted all the way out so I dont really see an alternative on that. Here are some pics.
My question is this, while I was down adding a little shim to the steering stop because the bars are a getting a little closer to the tank thank I would like. I ran into a couple of loose cables I hadnt noticed before. Anyone know what these might be too?
Oh, one other small issue I forgot to mention. The long screws that hold on the bar ends are too long to thread all the way in to the clip on weights. I am going to Ace tomorrow to see if i can find some shorter screws that will work.
