    Ophir, Brass Monkey 2013

No, not heard any yet! There are some really good roads here, let me know if any forum members ever want a riding holiday here. Either bring your bike or plenty of options to hire. The suspension upgrade and brake delink has been great. The Sargent seat was a recent purchase and has been noticably better on the longer days of the ride, when we are going over 500 miles distance.

    Brass Monkey 2013

Annual rally held at Idaburn in Central Otago, New Zealand. Have been to around 10 of these. In the old days, approx 3,500 bikers camped in tents, surrounded by snow. These days, more like 2,000 bikers, some choose to stay in hotels nearby. Not a lot of snow and definitely warmer.

This spot has the hottest and coldest average temperatures in New Zealand. 2nd coldest temp in NZ recorded here -21.6 degrees Celsius on 3 July 1995. VFR800 Gen-5 has just clocked up 105,000km

This was my project over the last couple of years. Began life as a Honda MC28 NSR250 that I wanted to turn into a Katoh replica (I used to race Honda RS125 GP bikes, among other things and always wanted a stroker roadbike). Along the way it turned into a 300, gained an Ohlins shock and a Yamaha R6 front end. Awesome and very anti-social on the road. Just missing 2 cylinders and 2 strokes :-)

I miss racing so decided to get this - GSXR1000K7 with full JSBK spec Yoshimura engine. Puts out 190RWHP with standard rev limit and 200 with race limit (and reduced life of valves...): Yoshi full Ti/carbon TRC “kit” exhaust (big bore unobtainium as used by Mladin/Spies in AMA) Yoshi STG-R type R cams Yoshi valve cotters, retainers/springs Yoshi dual air funnel kit Yoshi metal gasket set Yoshi oil/air separator Yoshi catch can Yoshi heavy duty clutch plates and springs RCMP machined head/deck/pistons for hi- compression/flow STM slipper clutch BMC air filter Yoshi EM-Pro ecu Yoshi wiring loom Starlane Da Vinci dash/quick shifter/GPS laptimer Ohlins TTX in the back, 25mm NIX in the front. RC30 disgraced herself one last time (not charging)

    Fork Upgrade 3

My favourite (other than the VFR) is the NSR250 down the back, I should post a photo. It is my mc28 with an R6 front end, Tyga Movistar fairings and a 300 kit. Finished as a Kato replica. The RC30 is kind if the VFRs grandad and is still sublime as a roadbike

    Fork Upgrade 3

Thanks :-) The VFR has just clocked up 100,000km, so it was time for a wee overhaul. I followed mellowdude's writings and purchased the VTR1000 fork lowers off ebay, as well as the CBR600 F4i brake setup. Fitted .90 springs (I weigh 82kg). Initially it did feel a bit choppy but once the pace got faster, it was so close to perfect I thought that I had better not touch it. Fitted the Akrapovic that used to be a slipon on my 2000R1 but was just lying in the garage once I went to a full system. There is a 929 rear shock in there (another ebay special) that I had regassed and a slight modification to the high speed rebound.
