Rollin' down the Blue Ridge about 12 years ago with a few guys ahead of me I was doing about 80 around a sweeping curve on my ST1100, after getting behind the crew, when a Federallie pulled out and went after my compadries. He stopped us all and when he got to me he said, "I didn't clock you because I was turning to get the others". (they got nailed for doing 55). Then he said, "I have one of those ST1100's and I know I can do 80 in most places on this road.

Now I gotcha ossifer. I asked with a knowing grin, "how do you know that, you must have done it". Then I said, "I can't do 80 on this road and I don't like going above the limit so I would like to suggest something. Let these guys off with a warning and I will take the lead for the rest of the ride and hold 45. Call ahead and if you clock us over 45, have a field day". He went for it and we got off at the next exit because trying to hold 45 on that road burns out your brakes.

I heard a rumor that the next bike through that turn lost traction due to a bad smelling brownish substance left on the road. :rolleyes:
