Technically, I still have 4 cos there are still several parts of my 98 model that I haven't sold yet. But I need a bike for sunny Sunday afternoons, an RC51 perhaps....
My garage is not big enough....
Really like your Crosstour. Really interesting bike that fits right between the Africa Twin and the VFR1200X.
I have a small garage and four bikes. Something has to give as I can barely walk around in it.

Last ride of the year was two weeks ago.
Morning temperature -6 celcius and with windchill at 100 km/h is -19 celcius or, drumroll... -2.2 fahrenheit. Damn cold!
By the way, it's -18 celcius here today, plus the windchill it's in the low -30s which is -22 fahrenheit. Also, damn cold!

Been to the LA area a few times and always seem to run out of time to ride this road. Looks amazing. Next time, maybe next summer...
Thanks for sharing.

Sounds like dead regulator-rectifier and/or stator to me. My bike did exactly the same thing when it packed those in - floppy speedo, stalling and not restarting, would run with a boost until completely killing the battery (permanently). There are plenty of tutorials on this site for checking your voltage to see if one of these components has failed.

Car wax? There's a product available here in Canada (probably the US, too) called Brasso. Works on chrome - I've used it on cars to inhibit rust. Polishes in and leaves no residue.

When I used to store my bikes in an unheated garage I'd do the following:
change oil, put in fuel stabilizer, get the bike off the ground to keep the tires from developing flat spots, throw on a cover and wait for spring. If you have carbs, drain them. Coolant should be fine and changed at regular maintenance intervals. Have a good winter!

I've only started doing my own tyres this year, after I acquired a manual tire changer (like the Harbor Freight one) and nylon-shod bar (like the Mojolever), and the only tool I want now is the yellow one, to help hold the tire in place. I really was not interested in changing tyres without at least a manual tire changer, and having done about half a dozen now I am even more convinced about that...
Ciao,
The 'yellow thing' from NoMar is a very useful tool. Great for mounting and holding the bead in place while you work your way around the tire with a mounting bar. I've changed tires at least a dozen times and I've done it for others as well and the tools have certainly paid off. A good investment.

I'm finally leaving the Dancing Bear. Headed to Revelstoke and Yoho. I joined Intl. Hostels to do more of these stays.
Full props to Mike and the whole crew for making this such a Fabulous Trip.My happy muscles got quite a workout. Thinking back on the weekend still brings on a feces-eating grin, causing strangers to come up to me and comment that must have just gotten laid.
I probably won't be making my home safe state for several more weeks. BC and CA are great; it will be hard to leave.
Terry
Thanks for coming all the way out West, Terry.
There are excellent hostels on the Icefields Parkway (Highway 93 just outside of Lake Louise), Banff and at Ribbon Creek in Kananaskis (Highway 40 - Highwood Pass is a beautiful ride) if you want to commune with nature for cheap.
Safe travels and drop me a line if you come through Alberta.

Here is a link to the photos - thanks to my 'accomplice' Tammy for shooting some photos at the pub on Saturday night!
All the photos should be downloadable - please let me know if there are any problems?

Welcome to Nelson!
Super photo, Tony! What a handsome group!
I came home early the other day (touring on a 250 is a bit different - tired - haha).
It was great to see everyone and the chemistry of this group. Lots of fun, good jokes and conversations, and excellent riding companions. Enjoy the rest of your summer, friends.
All the best,
Mike

What an adventure it has been! Mike, you go above and beyond. Mikes, Jims, Kevins, D&T, Arman, Ian, Terry... everyone could not have been more friendly. All of you are welcome at my home in Reno, Nevada. I have 2 guest bedrooms! Give me a couple of weeks notice. Whether motorcycle, mountain bike or ski, I will show you around.
What a blast, safe travels, rubber side down,
MarkinReno
I'M for phone if you can't reach me via this blog.
Have a great ride. The roads I mentioned in Alberta were highway 40 from just after Canmore to Longview. If you're stopping in Banff or Lake Louise the Icefields Parkway is worth riding just up to the glaciers (about an hour). Safe travels!

Hi all,
Great to see y'all last night. Don't forget breakfast at the Hume Hotel at 9am today ($15/person including gratuity). Name tags, t-shirts, small gift bags for each participant. We can also organize groups and routes for riding. I've made a few suggestions earlier and on the main post. Looks like much better weather today.
When we're done breakfast maybe we can assemble at the Welcome to Nelson sign for a group pic.

It's drizzly and wet. I'm waiting for the ferry at Crawford Bay. Forecast for tomorrow is sunny. Fingers crossed.

I'm in Fernie now for breakfast. Yeesh. A bit cold this morning. Nice and warm here though. Halfway there. :)

Just a heads up that there is road construction from the Slocan Valley (Hwy 6) junction for 15 km to Nelson. Half the road is grooved and it's alternating single lane with 20 minute closures.
So my plan is to meet you guys Saturday morning at the breakfast place. Sorry I will miss the Friday meet and greet but I will attend the Saturday dinner.
Sounds good. We'll see you Saturday.

The only one who ever called me Randall was my mom. And only when she was really mad at me. This was more often that I would like to admit.
Dude, it's the name on your payment. I'm Michael but always use Mike (except family). Don't worry we'll call you Randy. ;)

Parking
A couple of notes for when you arrive on Friday. There's parking on the front driveway, behind the building, and as things fill up, directly in front of the hostel on the street. There's also a parking lot across the street that is the Best Western's but I haven't confirmed if they are okay with us parking bikes there (although I did a couple of weeks ago without incident - do so at your own risk, or, ask them for permission - they're right next door).
Check-in
Check in with us on the patio for your swag bag, name tag and have a brew or drink and food on the patio. I'll be there about 2pm - official check-in is 4pm so take your time arriving - no rush.
Room Assignments
Below is the list of folks and their rooms at the Dancing Bear hostel. Let me know if I've made any errors. You lucky buggers in the dorms have the whole place to yourselves. :)

I think I'm going to leave at 5am. I'd like to see if I can make it over Gray Creek Pass (gravel road). I'll be aiming to be in Nelson early, around 2pm.

Sorry to hear that e-ticket. Perhaps the next meet.

Oops. Yes, Crossrunner. My mistake. That's an interesting way of revising the VFR. Very cool bike.
