  1. Low Miles, great shape.

    9213 miles and growing slowly.

2nd owner since, title in hand.  Mechanically A-1, clear title. Fantastic bike for long distance AND sport riding. 144 HP and 82 ft/lbs at the rear wheel stock.

Has a z-bomb (can be removed - plug and play) which really opened up the bike in 1st and 2nd gear - eliminates throttle restriction, easily removed, but much better.

Custom made mount holding double USB on the ignition post, super discreet, plugged into factory Honda wiring harness.

Wiring harness still has room for the heated grips and one accessory to be added via factory plugs. Connectors included.

Stem post with RAM ball for mounting phone or other devices, original stem cap included.

Comes with factory panniers (keyed to ignition for one key ease) and mounting plate for a top case in the rear. Original grab rails included. Honda Racing tank pads and grip panels installed. Minor scratches on one of the panniers - I’ll get better pics.

    Factory center stand also installed.

Battery tender connection tucked away in perfect location on left side, with built in cap for riding.

Rode the bike continuously, just not enough miles due to having multiple bikes and lack of need to go downtown.  Always owned multiple bikes, so I didn’t get enough miles on this one. Great commuter and road trip bike that can handle and has plenty of power. Not a beginner bike, but narrow V4 and low center of gravity makes it an easy bike to maneuver. Majority of miles from commuting from suburbs to downtown Chicago and rode to Southwest Michigan multiple times a summer before Covid. Closed our downtown offices, and my commute is now 10 minutes.

Very good do anything bike, provides ridiculous weather protection at speed. Lots of storage. Great mechanical condition, maintained by me and local motorcycle mechanic (Moto and Motor in Northbrook).

Has ONE small scratch on edge of left fairing obtained on the day I brought the bike home and took it off the trailer without fully releasing the front wheel. That’s it. I was so mad I ordered a replacement fairing, but its corner was also slightly scratched in transit, so I never installed it. It’s been sitting in a box for years. Is included.

Might have an oil filter or two left - need to check garage.

Printed copy of entire service manual included.

Bike served me very well, still riding it, but it’s now time to serve someone else (you?) equally well.

$7400 OBO for everything. Let me know if you’re interested.  I have tons more pics, just message me.

  2. The Z-bomb has made the VFR so much more enjoyable around town, when I want to get on it from low RPM's, as well as much easier to control at parking lot speeds. If the reflash is yet even better, along with giving me back my gear indicator (which really isn't all that important to me), I'll get there eventually. I know the more aggressive cam timing should make a difference in responsiveness, and I'd like to remove the servo motor even though I have the stock exhaust - note, I've diconnected the cable and used a small cylinder around the cable to keep the flap about 3/4 open (so it doesn't bang on anything).

  3. Thanks. I'm thinking going with the flash too. Just can't see it being THAT much of an improvement on performance. I'll be able to remove the servo motor I disconnected from the exhaust. I don't see myself ever going faster than the limiter (what, it's 186mph or so?). I'll rebuild the bike fund and see where it goes.

Still ll looking for more input if anyone has it!

  4. I recently installed a z-bomb. My thoughts are below.

But I am still contemplating the reflash - it would be nice to get the gear indicator back for 1 and 2, and my understanding is there is a better fuel map available, as well as ability to change fan temp, remove top speed limitations, more aggressive timing (English, I believe), and ability to change RPM limiter...

Anyone start with a z-bomb and move to the reflash? Curious if the differences were noticeable on the road. Would love to read about your observations after making the change!

Have to say I love the power delivery without the restrictions in 1 and 2... WTF was Honda thinking?

Here's my post in the obsolete Z-Bomb thread...

I know this entire topic is obsolete now that a reflash is available, but I went for the Z-Bomb because I had an E-Bay gift certificate for $50 and blew my motorcycle budget wad on track days.

I have to say, people pay lots of money for the type of improvement the Z-Bomb gives. The hesitation in 1 and 2 is gone, and the power is now much more accessible. At slow, easy pace riding, this won't make a bit of difference. BUT - for those that like to accelerate up the gears and give a bit of go juice to jump ahead, this is a SERIOUS upgrade. I knew what to expect from reading above, but I was still ridiculously impressed with the improvements to power delivery in 1st and 2nd gear. What was Honda thinking???

Now I really want the Guel (SP?) reflash, as it supposedly has more aggressive timing available, in addition to a bunch of other convenience items (gear indicator works, speed limits removed, fan temp adjustable, exhaust servo-alert can be killed if you want to remove the servo motor completely, etc.).

People pay a lot more than $50 to get the types of improvements made available by the Z-Bomb...  I can see that the easy access to power could be a little dangerous to an inexperienced rider, but really, what was Honda thinking?!?!?

Great mod - I now understand why it was such a big deal when it came out. (I drive a 2010 F with the only performance mod being an open flapper in the exhaust).

  6. JEEZ! Slow going. Installed last night late, but rain this morning so I didn't ride to work. Hopefully I'll get a ride in tonight.

Installation was OK, a little difficult figuring out how to unhook the original connectors. So I attached the Z-Bomb's connectors to eachother and made sure I understood which release needed to be pushed. Made the difference.

The original connectors had plenty of slack to pull them out from the piece of plastic protecting them, and it was easy to tuck everything else back in over the plastic piece.

    Looking forward to riding it!!!!

  7. So I've depleted my motorcycle fund with a trip to the track at Barber Motorsports and wasn't able to reflash the ECU this winter. So I bought a Z-Bomb.

As soon as I have time to take a last refresher ride (I'm in Chicago and had 3 rides in February!) - the snow is thick right now - I will go for a decent local ride, then add the z-bomb and take the identical ride to compare.

Will report once installed and tested for those who are still on the stock ECU without Z-Bomb.

  8. PR4's have been great for me for the last 3k miles. I go with them for their grip in the wet - I've been caught in enough rain (commuting) to want good water displacement and I can only give the PR4's a big thumbs up. Better in a storm than the PR3's on my Sprint. Great grip. BUT - i've never had other tires on the big Viffer. Picked up a 2010 with original tires (really really low mileage) but they were old so I replaced them straight off.

  9. Pretty sure Veefour's bike is a bit more modified than VR155's stock, reflashed with a can DCT and while this thread degraded quickly, I have no reason to doubt either of you.

Regardless, with lots of mods, our VFR12's go plenty fast.

VFR155, if you are still around, did you add a stabilizer for the front? I remember a post way back where someone was looking for a front steering stabilizer as a requirement to run speed tests...

  10. I am really thinking about doing this mod. For those that have already installed the LSL bars, any differences in the bad weather? Finding yourself outside the weather protection afforded by the plastic? I guess you can always bend down, and/or just get a higher screen...
