top quality photo shot, the lighting is perfect.

Thank you SQ. Mother nature helped out with the light. I think that was taken just after noon on a clear day in February. Not often we get such days in Febriary here on the Wet coast of Canuckistan.

2006 VFRs were available in all-white - was yours? Did you go with gloss white or is there some pearl in it as well?

It looks great as-is so no need for the '06's  oe graphics.

This is the second time I have repainted the bike. Both times with the OEM Sunbeam White, which I think is the name of that colour. And yes, it has pearl. The first repaint was partially covered with a one off wrap. But I crashed in Baja in 2018 and caused some damage. The paint was showing its age again. So back to the paint shop and repainted again for the second time with the same white with the pearl. This bike has over 226,000 km on it. That may help you understand why it may need repainting. I also rode if commuting through the winter too..

There was a reason I seldom visited this site.  There is now more of a reason to stay away.  I did enjoy what little time I spent here but your new rules presented take it over the threshold of reasonableness in my opinion.  You may bar me if you wish.  You may delete this message if you wish.  It won't make any difference in my decision.

Another theory being (part of) the ethanol in fuel making it into the oil where it eats the lacquer of the copper windings...

That is an interesting theory. Wonder what the petroleum and oil experts response to this would be.

The stator cost me US$200.  I believe the two CCT's would be around US$180 together.

That's not bad a price.  My first replacement stator installed by Racer's Edge in Vegas was $219.00 back in  2012.  It was an after market.  Had no choice there as the OEM were on back order and I was broken down while far from home. By 2014, the OEM stator was $314.18 up here in Regina Saskatchewan when I had to replace it again.  They also replaced the rect as well at that time. That total bill parts and labour, was $892.00  I think between the second stator being possibly a cheaper after market, and the hard riding in very hot weather for long periods of time, loaded to the max, cause the second failure.  Again while I was far from home.

  5. Yes.  I had that done way back Sep 23 2010 when the bike had 9691 KM on it (actually was 109619 KM it had already rolled) That was a little pricey.  $472.94 P&L But again, I believe that is maintenance. Things do wear.

124k miles.  Wow!  And I'm sweatin' my 42k that's getting closer to 43k!  LOL!

Nothing to sweat my friend.  Regular maintenance and you are good to go.  But.  You should expect to replace your stator at least once and the regulator onece or twice.  But that is maintenance as far as I am concerned..

  7. Yes. Absolutely. The photo really does it no justice though. The size of that slide is just massive when you actually go there and get out of your car for a look. I would hazard a guess, that as a crow flies, from where my bike it, to the top of the break away, could be near a mile. Another slide to look up is the Frank Slide which happened I think early 1900's and buried a railroad town. Frank used to be in BC until they re-drew the boundaries long ago. Now it is in Alberta. An interesting read if that tickles your fancy.

  8. Actually it was not bad at all. I rode about 7,000 miles like that over 5 weeks. That back pack is a mountaineering pack so a bit pricey. But once properly adjusted, it distributes the weight very well. Except, once you start to fall over on the bike, well, you just have to accept that you are going to have to pick yourself up. There was about 150 - 180 extra pounds loaded there.

The red, gold and silver are reflective decal. Really pops when light hits it in the dark. Thanks

I did Yousemeti and the Sequoia Park in May 2012 and loved the time there. Where was this taken. I also rode the Redwood Highway (199 & 101) from Grants Pass to Crescent City, and then onto Atascadero a few years back but is was raining so hard, I didn't really get a chance to stop for pix. Nice shot BTW.

The inspiration for these graphics came from the Canadian CTV network 2010 Vancouver Olympic graphics. These were applied this past spring after I got the bike repaited. The decal is 3M and reflective. Really reflects back with a flash or applied light in the dark. Matter of fact, the same company who did CTV's graphics did mine as well.

Peer appreciation is the best form of compliment. Thanks guys.
