  1. Looks great Doug. I also like the 05 06 front, (the black directs the air right at the oil cooler and looks almost OEM) looks a little cleaner and flows better with the lines. Plus I love the new side covers, I still have not messed with my side panels yet. I wish we could get both our bikes together sometime for some pictures.

I thank you again for your help on my build.

  2. It made me sick to hear that you went down. First, I hate to hear that someone went down. Second, I really wanted to see one of of the best looking bikes out there. But it is great that you were able to walk away. I can't wait to see what you will build this time. (I was so looking forward to seeing the bike that got me to build my bike, I hope you can still make it to SS)

  3. :lurk:

    Good stuff here

So am i right, a cbr/rr clock will slip right in place of my 4th gen clock?

Or do i simply need a speedo healer to make good?(never used or seen one of them before)

A how do sheet with out all the fluff would be awsome.

Yes you will need a Speed O Healer. I have not got one yet and you will also need a different ECT sensor (2 wire set up). Good luck and get some pictures up when done.

I am looking forward to getting this done and riding again. I want to say thanks FotoMoto again for all your help!

    Keep at it!

    Travis.

  4. Didn't take as much off when I did it a couple of months ago....

but it's the same idea. I might take some more off right next to the peg, but I think I'm generally happy with what I already took off, as long as it lightens the look of the OEM guard enough.

This could become one of the most common mods, next to the "fenderectomy"

    Beck,

  5. I have seen several of these with round spacers. Anyone concerned about the shock rotating, since the oem square bracket is no longer "keyed" by the frame channel? I guess it's remote, but I don't know for sure.

Zach - I have a stock 5th Gen mount on order. ONce it arrives, I'll try to take some measurements if you're still looking. I also have a 929 shock, so I can take some measurements of that, as well.

Thanks, but I couldn't wait so I bought a mount and I already have my shock. I got as far as measuring and drawing up the stock mount, just haven't made up longer mounts yet, or the flats to have them cut out on the laser  Once I'm done with it I'll one for sale, and as soon as I get the new shock in I'll have another useless one  I need to either look at my notes or read through this again  to see what kind of dimensions worked for others and then I was going to make a few mounts, in something like 5mm increments. I'm hoping to make it along the same design of the stock mount, but tall of flanges are kind of limiting with the tooling we have for forming and also being that much taller it will need more support so it doesn't fold over...

I don't think there should be any concern for the upper shock mount rotating. There are no forces exerting on it to do so and as long as the mount is tight...

I'd be very interested in one of your brackets when you get them made up. I have the shock already, it's just sitting there in a box waiting for the slightly warmer weather so I can get my ass in gear and do this mod.

Please, let me know when you have some done.

    Thanks,

    Paul.

  6. Does the VFR spanner wrench work on the 929 shock??

If you are talking about the spanner that you use to adjust chain tension, then no. You need to buy (or otherwise procure) the CBR pin wrench (part number 89202-KY1-700, $11.28 at Honda Direct Line.) It's a fairly straight shot on my 4th gen, don't know about 5th.

Thank you for posting the part # :fing02:

  7. There are some good "Farkles" on here. This might not be all that great or even a "farkle". But for keeping my registration and insurance card with me when I ride and dry. I just put it in my helmet between liner and shell. It works for me.
