Yep, can't beat the NoMar changer, got it two years ago.... a little ad on craigslist, and it paid for itself, plus a few $$thousand extra bux for beer!!!
-
Funny thing is on the VTEC, it's the opposite direction to tighten as it is on the 5th gen... go figure!!
Maybe it's because the older VFRs tend to lower the rear ride height when you turn the hub eccentric to tighten their chains.
Many had gone as far as flipping their hubs and changing out or modifying a few botls in the way to do so to correct this. Maybe Honda finally listened to something we were saying.....

95 VFR
I have an 89 Honda hawk 650 that is the opposite as my 04 vfr.....and then Honda stopped listening to us when they designed and built the 7th gen vfr's

I have a friend that is a body man, and at their shop, they only use this stuff....They had a high end plastic welder, but all of the guys could make it work well. He said it did a sloppy job, and now that they have this stuff, the plastic welder is obsolete!
http://www.lord.com/Products-And-Solutions/Adhesives/Automotive-Repair-Adhesives/Product.xml/314
I have used it lots to repair cracked plastic, and even to make new plastic from parts that were broken, and pieces were missing!
Awesome stuff. It is expensive, the gun is expensive, and the tips that mix the product aren't cheap, but it's the best!
If you go to the products section of their website, all their products have online instructions on how to use all of their products, how long til set up, how long til you can sand, etc. , etc.!
Good luck!

Great shot of your brake lever, is that the short or regular version?
-
Did you get the suction cup mount? It works well (with my bodywork), not sure about how it will stick to your flat black....
-
Now it looks like you have enough usable space to put some tire plugs and c02 tanks. Or some of your cigars.....
Got a special box for them that goes in the backpack for cigars
...but yes, I'm excited about extra tools that can in there!
-
What kind of smoke was that? How was it?
Hoyo de monteray...excaliber ring size ?? length ?? But it was excellent! Hoyos always are!
-
The cigars look great but right now I need a battery, it's winter so that means my battery is dead/dying... :computer-noworky:
I see the MOTY batteries are $160 through the website, but they look like they come with the quick disconnect. What was the price on the group buy and did they have the quick disconnect?
I'm sick of paying $60, $80 or $125 every winter or 15 months for a new battery...ready to try something new.
The group buy price was $135....and no it didn't come with the quick disconnect.....
My yuasa lasted for 5+ years, it was still working when I did this swap....just not sure how much life it has left in it!
Well, Walmart agreed to replace my 15 month old battery out at no charge under "warranty" so the Moty battery will have to wait until next winter... :491:
Well, I guess it's hard to argue with that :comp13: Now get to riding!!!!!! :fing02:
-
When I got my bike the previous owner had one of these he gave me. He used it for his radar detector. It helps to get the o-rings wet before you stick it in the steering step. Makes it go in a lot easier.
That's what she said..... :laughing6-hehe:

I don't want to 'jack your thread, but you might want to take a look at that starter relay plug. It looks like it could use a VFRness. Highly recommended.
I've been waiting for someone to comment on that, yeah it's been through the wringer....but is currently very ugly, but sound. Maybe this year I'll get the recall done and I'll get a new one! I do also have one of Tightwads VFRnesses hanging on my pegboard waiting for an install! :fing02:
-
Besides the weight and size any other advantages...............how about longevity?
5 days and counting :goofy:
But I will get to ride to work tomorow!! :wheel: So I'm hoping it gets me home. Morning weather is suppose to be about 22 F. and maybe 40 on the way home, so the heated gear will be going on full! :fing02:
-
Arturo Fuente!!! oh yeah! They have been a staple of mine for the last 14 years..... I cut my teeth on them!
Other favs are Hoyos and CAO's (Brazila's ).....not to hijack my own thread but, I found these at my local smoke shop...very good, and inexpensive! http://www.cigaraficionado.com/cigars/top25detail/year/2010/rank/15

... or find a way to relocate the whole thing to the other side, and then I'll really have some extra space!!
hmmm... interesting concept, make the whole battery compartment available. :lurk:
Oh yeah, once I get that sorted out, I'll post some pics, first I need to get some riding time!! :wheel:
-
I was thinking about getting one of these batteries, and using the extra space to install my Blue Sea fuse block. Do you think there is enough space for something like that? Another though was putting a DynoJet PC3 in there.
Cheers
Ben
Yeah there should be, for sure on the power commander! Probably the fuze block too! :fing02:

Just a thought - you might go ahead a clip off the old tabs on the harness to avoid the possibiltiy of them digging into the battery plastic cover. Maybe even filing burrs & edges clean. That wouldnt be pretty....
Yeah, I almost did, but I figured I'd see how this battery holds up...if it does, I will. I just figured that if I ever went back to a reg old heavy battery they might come in handy!
In the instructions, they say to add a quick disconnect, but I'm impatient and wanted to do this now....I think that I will eventually try to relocate it to the other side(plenty of room) that when I'll add the disconnect.
Someday I'm going to have the recall done :pinocchio: They have had a whole new harness for me since 08!! As you might have noticed, the started relay has seen better days, but is working fine!

Well last night when I got home, my Moty battery had arrived, and today, even though my battery is still working ok, I couldn't help but put it in!!
The weight alone earns a cigar!! My old Yuasa weighed in at 7 pounds 15 ounces, the new Moty weighed 1pound 7 ounces (ok, 6.8 ounces).
Not really that difficult to make it work, I do have to say that my only gripe is that I wish that the terminals were the same as the old one....they are on the wrong side....maybe the next group can be reversed....that would make it a smidge easier....otherwise, like I said pretty easy to do!
I did have to take a pliers and bend up the little tabs on the terminal connectors, otherwise they wanted to dig into the battery.
IMG_2494.JPG
I used a little extra foam underneath to boost it up a little. The positive terminal wire seems to keep it pulled back in place, whereas I drilled 2 little holes in the side of the plastic tray and then safety wired the neg. terminal to the side tray....
As you can see that there is some gained space, not much, but for sure more than there was.....enough for a wallet, or what ever! The other wires in there are for my Gerbings, and my accessory plug in outlet.

IMG_2496.JPG
I'm sure that I'll mess with a few other ways in the future to secure it better, or find a way to relocate the whole thing to the other side, and then I'll really have some extra space!!
Oh, and it does fire right up! :fing02:
-
Man I'll take heat over cold any day! Tires work better, less shit to put on....I've got a gerbings jacket liner, heated gloves and heated boot insoles, so very cold isn't a problem, I just get tired of hooking everything up....layering and all the other stuff that comes with. When it's hot, i just step into my leathers, boots helemt and gloves and I'm gone!!!
"Then only good thing about cold is you can keep your beer outside and it doesn't get hot!" -Patrick Mann-

Yes it was cheap...but not that great at all.
I got a No Mar changer two summers ago and it has long since paid for itself over and over. And I don't mean just by how many tires I've put on my own bike (because I spooned them on myself) but I ran a little ad on craigslist, for $20 a wheel, I have met all kinds of great and interesting riders!! I even got some new riding buddies who have become very good friends! Their all great guys!!
Everyone has been very happy to pay $20/wheel for a change! So if you can get one.....craigslist can help you pay for it!! I was amazed that so many people(riders) were going through the craigslist ads! I already had a balancer, so I did balance them too! But HF has one that will get the job done everytime for about $50 or less if you have a coupon! If I didn't already have a job (and girlfriend is trying to get me another full time real job) I have seriously considered finding a small bus location, and turning tire changing into a full blown enterprise here...shit they have all kinds of car tire change places, but NONE for motorcycles!
Let me know if you have any questions~ I'm glad to help with what ever I can!
Pat
ps. sometimes No Mar runs sales....you just have to watch! :fing02:

AWESOME adventure!!! :fing02
I get "it" ! wish I could have done that ride with ya!

What's your favorite tank bag?
I've been looking around, and I'm having trouble deciding. I think I actually kind of like the Icon Urban. Wouldn't ever use the stupid helmet holder, but I like the big side pouches....and I found a good deal on one in town. Let me know what you guys use.
None at all! It just bugs me to have anything on the tank and gets in my way of moving around
Yeah me too!! I have tail bags, saddle bags, and two different tank bags...all work great when I have to use them, BUT I will always prefer my back pack any day....especially the cold ones where I can sinch up the straps and makes my jacket even tighter. And keeps the wind off my back! It's never in the way for gas!
-
Someone once told me about a parking device for cars....it was called the http://laserprotector.com/ It is legal since it's designed for you garage!! looks good to me, considering laser radar is tough to beat, is they can see you, they can get you!! Plus when you drive past enyone with a laser detector, it makes their stuff go off!
Or yes, do some track days!! It'll help get the need for speed out!

I have never attended this event but I was looking hard at the 2011 Moonshine gathering.
Unfortunately, Terry Hammond who put on Moonshine died yesterday of natural causes at his farm. This is a big loss for motorcycling. I only had the chance to meet him once in Big Bend Texas last February. Great guy and a huge blow to everybody who knew him.
RIP Terry.
That is unbelievable, and very awful  . I'm glad that I got to meet him the times I went, and was lucky enough to sit next to him last April. It's a memory I can have forever!
Your right, he was a great guy, and responsible for my favorite and only motorcycle rally I would ever want to go to......He will be hugely missed!
BonusVFR, thanks for posting this.
