  1. Link not working for me either, error message says the file is corrupt. Contrary to MaxSwell, I cannot live without seeing this video!

But I did see your bike in person, so maybe I can survive... but it will be tough!!

  2. MMmmm ... farkles  I also bought the VFRness with fuse panel, but haven't gotten around to installing it yet. Would you mind taking a few shots and posting them as/after you do it? The VFRness seems straightforward (though Cogswell mentioned in one of his posts that it's a lot of wire to tuck into place) but it wasn't immediately clear to me looking at the pieces how the fuse panel is supposed to be wired.

    Belfry,

I, too, have the vfrness with fuse panel. If u want to see it installed, pm me and you can come over. I'm in Burnaby. I do not claim it's installed properly though... :-). Btw, i'm out of town for the next couple of weeks, but there should be one night where we can get together at some point. My vfr is out of commission due to a stubborn set of gears behind the clutch cover but I should have some time to work on it as of July 3rd. Just saying.

  3. Ok, I'm reading this thread with great interest as I'm trying to install my own Dual Star grips --started yesterday, I'm stuck with the wiring. Could anyone tell me what I should do with my setup: I have the Vfrness and the fuse box sold by Tighttwad. Should I plug the grips in the fuse box? If so, do I still need a relay?? Is there a wiring diagram with this very setup anywhere on the site? I couldn't find one.

Thanks in advance for any help.

  4. A ruler?? People still use rulers?? Isn't there an app for that or something????

Just teasing. Looks like it should do the trick. Can you feel the wires when you ride??

    C

I'm pretty sure there are a lot of Countries that use rulers, without naming them and p-ssing somebody off.

Hmmmm. I can see how my post could maybe quickly become a problem. Let me say this before it happens: I was just trying to tease Dutchy, who usually has a pretty good sense of humor. Now, if I offended anyone because of this not so good (and even bad?) joke, I would like to apologize. It may have been a bad joke, but sometimes things do sound pretty funny in my own mind/world. Sorry again...

  5. Ok, it's Saturday night, the wife is in bed after caring for all three kids all day (one being a newborn) and I'm bored--nothing on tv. (yes, fire away with all the jokes...)

So, I thought I would start this thread. Just wondering what mods you have in store for this year.

As for me, I've got a few. I've been riding a few thousand km every year for the three or four year Ive owned my '03 and I now have a pretty good idea of what I need and want to make the ride better. I already have a few mods on this bike (helibars, vfrness, pcIII + O2 sensors, cramp buster thingy, Pazzo look-alike levers) but thought I could add more.

In the last two years, I've been gathering some bits and pieces to install on it --haven't got time to install them yet:

    -speed bleeders (+abs pieces)

    -GSXR mirrors with integrated lights

-new pazzo look-alike levers -don't ask...

    -Lascar voltmeter

    -steering head kit (wiremybike.com)

    -new Sargent seat!! Yay!

With any luck, I'll be installing these parts this spring and enjoying them this summer. I hope you're all as excited as me to ride this summer!!

    Safe rising everyone!!

  6. Either pray to God that he sends you the answer while you sleep or remove the right fairing and look for a wirimg harness that goes around the gas tank. It would also

be hoocked to your R/R and your battery if this helps.

Maybe someone has pics, sorry I don't...

  7. Sorry about the mouse. Hard to fully inspect a bike before you buy, eh? I read hrre that some people put cinnamon on the hround around their bikes to keep them away. In any cae, does she run better with the new filter?

  8. Good idea for a thread!

    Let's see.........

    VFR:

-check brake pads to see how much is left

-flush and replace all fluids, including brake system (ABS not looking forward to this one (hard?) but it hasn't been done in three years, I figure it's time, looks like an amber beer)

-tidy up all connectors since I installed VFRness

-maybe install heated grips I've had for three years?!?

-replace all fairing bolts/fasteners that were lost in the last couple of years

-dang Honda, not much repairs to do on those, only maintenance !!

    Old Kawa (1983 KZLtd shaftie)

    -reinstall carbs

    -put tank back on

    -get new battery

    -lube everything that moves

-replace all rubbers that were used as snack by rats in PO's garage (foot pegs, handles)

-get old seat reupholstered (any advice is welcome here, where, how much, what to expect?!?)

    -replace spark plugs

-reinstall air filter and other misc parts I took out to inspect or clean

    -try and start 'er up?

-deal with anything that craps out once started up!!

-try and insure with collector's plates so I can ride over the winter

Looks like I'll be busy over the winter. And, with the way my garage leaks, I won't need to put the beer in a fridge to chill it.... :laughing6-hehe:

  9. Hey,

Great, very informative post. :fing02: However, some not so mechanically-inclined people like me are still missing some key information If you have time, would you mind answering the following please?

    a) what was the problem before you replaced them? Surging?

    b) what (other?) problem leaking injectors may cause?

    c) did it solve it completely?

    d) what was your mileage?

    e) how much approximately for the set of 4 injectors?

    f) aren't you supposed to open a cold one before, and another one after you're done, shake your head thinking about how much this may have cost you at the dealership, and then smile?

Many thanks for educating the ignorant ones, such as me.

  10. I say start by planning the next trip: book some hotels, plan for ferries, gas money, some maintenance money (oil, air filters, tires, etc.), food, gear (GEAR!!), and some interesting sight seeing on your way (museums, campgrounds, various attractions, beer for other VFRD members along the way?!!?). After you've puting some good mileage on it, then you may wanna modify things. Just ride the sh*t out of it until you find something you just can't live with (handle bars, seat, looks?, whatever).

BTW, congrats on your new purchase!! Hope you find it to your liking.

    Just my 2cents...

  11. You were lucky the gym bag is all you lost. A few years ago, the owner of a Anniversary Model VFR (the red and silver 5th Gen) who lives near me woke up in hospital with severe injuries. He didn't know what had happened to him, but the cops believed his bag had come adrift from his rear seat at around 120km/h, gone into his back wheel, and made his bike crash.

The bike was totalled, and he'll never ride again.

Holy cow (polite version!)!!! Well, this thread is making me appreciate getting a full set of hard cases (3), even if they (top box) may look silly sometimes. Wow. Well, at least, they secure your load and make you more visible (top box anyway).

Sorry about your wallet man, I hope a good soul brings it back to you. You are doing better than I would be if you're not too troubled by everything you'll have to do if you need to renew all your cards and all. I must work on being more zen. Or realign my chi or something...

    Cheers,

    C
