  1. As a fellow short person I lowered my 03 a couple inches to be more comfortable. I drug hard parts everywhere and was generally miserable riding the bike in any kind of rough twisty roads. Now that I have raised the bike back to stock height I can ride much more comfortably, but feet down situations suck. If you plan to ride the bike sporty at all you may want to go down in small increments and no where near 3 inches as the header, hard bags, lower fairing, and side stand will all be on the ground at minimal lean angles. It is amazing what a few inches of height lost can change in lean angle lost. Just something to think about.

    5.65 gallon fuel cell, two internal baffles to provide support and anti sloshing. Designed by me, built by the great guys at Boydwelding.com of .100 aluminum. Most rallies have a 11.5 gallon maximum so this with the stock 5.8 gallon tank and fuel line capacity gets me right under the limit. I now have a 400 mile range without ever losing the last bar on the fuel gauge. The fuel cell mounts to ears I welded to the givi bag mounts and sits on nylon blocks on the subframe. This also is the mount for my pelican 1450 case that carries my camera, back up gps, flashlight, and netbook.

    I cut the rear portion of a stock seat off to make room for the fuel cell. I used the tips at http://www.diymotorcycleseat.com/ as well as sitting on several custom motorcycle seats of other LD riders to reshape the seat. After ~2000 miles I like the shape, although over this winter I have lost alot of weight and I could have kept the seat much more narrow, I will probably redo the seat in the fall again, with better foam.

    this shows the small pelican case for tools and spare parts mounted to an piece of aluminum flat stock that mounts to the fender bracket, also shows the reflective tape that goes from black to white with bright light.

    as of 4/14/11 most current setup, shows 1 gallon water jug in atv tank panniers over frame under seat, other side holds first aid kit. It slightly blocks the bmw outlet in the side of the tail section for my electric vest and other elec. stuff.

    Redesigned dash shelf and gps mounts. 2 1/2" x 3/16 steel strap mounts above the front gas tank mount flange on then has a support under the plexiglass shelf that goes toward the front and is welded to the forward shelf mount that is bolted on with the lower windscreen mount screws. This hard mounts both gps units which has eliminated most of the vibration issues to make touch screen use much easier as well as providing needed support for the shelf and upper fairing.

    Old dash shelf, once I added a second gps it wiggled too much and has since been redesigned, At this point I had welded in some steel supports from that the upper windshield mounts to as well as one of two dash shelf supports.
