  1. The overall length of the 929 shock is longer but it has the same stroke, therefore the suspension will have the same amount of travel.
  2. I got away with swapping in a 929 shock in fairly easily on my 4th. You can break the upper shock mount bolt free of the bracket that bolts to the eye of the shock. Then you just need a longer bolt and an appropriate sized spacer. Interestingly enough, if you have one of the dog-bone links from the 929 shock, you can just chop one end off and it is the right length and has the exact right inner diameter to be used as a spacer. Have put about 10k on it so far, no issues. I also just picked up a Penske shock meant for a 929 for $350.
