  1. The CBR wheels are a good way to go. They are reasonably cheap and you can use modern rubber. They look good.

I'll probably do it again at some point.

My only issue is "been there, done to death".

I'm interested in trying something different.

  2. Just saw this.

I've contacted Kosman a couple years ago regarding this exact thing. There was a period where the machine used on comstar wheels was broken, but it's fixed and working now.

They can and will widen the stock VF1000R wheels. They can and will increase the stock 16" wheel to a 17" at the same time.

Yes, they will be heavier than newer wheels.

    Yes, it's pricey.

Will it be unique? Definitely...unless you and I both do it.

  3. Glad the elbow throttle seems to be working. I do like the T bar or flight stick idea though...but I`m not you. Can you shoot a closer pic, can`t make it out. Cool engineering so far.

Thinking about the sidecar bodywork. Something a little less flat looking? A bit more Streamlined to go with the VFR...maybe? Easier said than done I know.

  4. Complete overkill I am sure, but here you go:

2002 RC51 forks with Rc51 lower triple, VF steering stem, stops cut off:

929 top triple set on top of above:

As above pushed on by hand:

Unmodified stock RC51 triple with stock stem and 929/954 top triple pushed on by hand:

    Same with RC51 top triple:

Rc51 bottom triple, VF stem, LSL top triple made for 929/954 pushed on by hand:

RC51 bottom triple, 929/954 top triple, VF stem:(I used a RC51 top triple on this for years)

And if there is anyone out there with that little voice in the back of their head saying"...hmmm, it seemed a little tight when I put that on there, maybe there is a slight difference in the triples and I`ve been riding around with a flawed front end without knowing it......"

I dropped the RC51 stock bottom triple down the forks a bit, put the RC51 top triple on, then flipped the 929/954 triple upside down so the stem hole would reach the stem sticking out of the RC51 top triple and pushed that on:

Top view, no worries, goes on with a nice push like it was meant to be there:

  5. Just to clear this up I will check the triples when I get home tonight. I have a couple bikes with RC51 lowers and CBR929/954 uppers. I also have a set of the same unmounted along with a set of RC51 forks so I should be able to verify that the steering stem and fork holes line up with no doubt.

  6. Any time. I didn`t make it to Dillon. Here`s a pic you asked for though:

These will be black eventually and will snap right onto VF1000R fork legs except for the TRAC adjuster knob. Need to remove the knob to get them on or drill the hole slightly larger. Then a zip tie like the race bike or make a bracket...probably a zip tie.

    Something like this:

  7. Thanks! I'm not sold on the blue wires. They looked like a darker blue in the online pics. I have the yellow wires that came with the kit, but they are 8.8mm wires and wouldn't work with the NGK resistor caps... I might check out the red and pass the blue wires on to someone else as a kit.

Will the yellows work if you trim off just the yellow plastic outer coating enough to go in the caps?
