sp468 Spark plug cap from Magnecor

tcarr925

This is a plug wire cap I got from Magnecor. The original caps contain a spring, resistor, and contacts. Well they corrode and go open. Bike runs ok with those open wires and higher revs but below 4K, the bike chugged some and was rough. Especially WFO at low revs. I found one cylinder ohming open. The second started showing open and normal after I took it apart. If you look at the plug cap design, you can see how lousy it really is. Surface contact on both sides of a spring and just surface contact on resistor. I am an old 2 way radio engineer that has seen what poor mating surfaces do. This Magnecor cap has no resistor, you use their resistive plug wires instead. So no contact points to corrode anymore. I do have to add some shrink tube as the wire plugs into the coil as Honda did. Provides a tight fit. I have 4K miles on the new wires and no chugging down low any more.
