Guest Abneya
Hey guys, I've been reading a ton of threads on here about converting to superbike or standard bike bars here. From what i've gathered, the LSL setup seems to be the best "purchase" option. I'm looking at drilling the triple tree and installing my own instead (already have bars, clamps, etc in my shop). I should be getting my extra top clamp (ebay find) toady but I have a question. The Question: Will I have to buy a longer brake/clutch line if I do this? I know it will be close but I'm curious if anyone has pulled this conversion off on the 6yh Gen without having changing out the brake/clutch lines. I know the 5th gen guys often use the 6th gen brake lines to make it work so I was wondering if the 6th gen's are already long enough. Anyone tried this? Thanks, Austin
Guest gwcrim
It will depend on what bars you use. If you don't go with ape hangers, you might pull it off with the stock hoses. Be patient, study your options. I used the tall Renthal street bars and rerouted my stock lines. The clutch, in particular, is close but certainly useable. The stock throttle cables were too short, though.
Guest Abneya
What did you end up going with for a throttle cable?
Guest gwcrim
ST1100 cables are about 3 inches longer. I picked up a used set on Ebay for under $50.

Baileyrock
ST1100 cables are about 3 inches longer. I picked up a used set on Ebay for under $50. Caution, not all ST1100 cables are longer!!! I bought two sets and one one either cable A or cable B was the same length as the VFR.
Member Contributer vfeistr Posted July 10, 2012 Member Contributer Share Posted July 10, 2012 Someone around here used 03-07 ST1300 cables with success. I bought a set, but haven't started on the conversion yet. I'll measure them and post this week when I get home. SERVICE HONDA 5634 HOHMAN AVE.
