For my money the Whistler Crusader is great. I can't keep track the number of times its saved my a$$. The helmet mounted LED is invaluable, and what a breeze to install. I got mine from buyradardetectors.com

It picks up all bands of radar including laser. I'll never have another bike without one.

Well guys i put the radar to the test in my Tundra. The thing works like a champ. The thing gives me about a 1/4 mile to a half mile distance warning on cops. That's not bad at all imho for a battery operated device. More than successful at detection lasar from a LONG distance. More than 1/2 mile. IT's loud, it works. That's all that matters. I am getting a stem mount for it for my bike as that's what i want.Anyways, def give the solo a good rating. I will compare it to my wife's whistler when i hook hers up in the jeep. See which one is more accurate at detection.

Anyways.. i hope you folks like the post and i hope i can sway yall to the S2..its a darn good product.

Be careful where you go with that! Your confidence that it is not illegal doesn't apply everywhere. Virginia, Connecticut and DC used to outlaw radar detectors. I know VA still does as I travel there every few months. I purchased a SOLO about 10 years ago (when I lived in VA) to eliminate the cord as a visual clue to the "opposition". Most of it's performance was fine, but my dissatisfaction was with the fact that even in "dark" or "stealth" mode there was a power on led that was always on. VA state troopers were very adept at observing lights on your dash area (in cages anyway) and determining if they are detectors. On a slow period, they will randomly hit the radar gun and see which vehicles in front of them brake. Then they ease up next to you and look at your dash and if they see anything suspicious they back off into your blind spot and gun the radar again and see if either 1) your dash lights up like Christmas or 2) you brake. Either is a positive signal to them and you will become personally acquainted...I asked questions the last time I met one of VA's finest!

The last time I was ticketed for operation of a radar detector it was no points, just a fine, but they can confiscate your detector until you appear in court or pay the fine.

Sometimes I think other sources may cause it to misfire.

That's not uncommon with any radar detector. Certain sensors and/or alarms for businesses or garage doors will cause false alarms. Higher quality models do a better job of screening them out, but all will occasionally give a false alarm. In areas that you frequent, you might choose to ignore them, but sometimes the "opposition" will use those locations as a screen for actual enforcement...

Oh, by the way, I've only had 1 ticket for speeding (knocks on wood). But I have had tickets for just about everything they can write you up for...I'm kinda like a collector.

yeah man i know about other states. I was just talking about my state. Here in Alabama a detector is not illegal. I don't plan on traveling anytime soon and i will verify with a check online of local laws before i ride in other states. well Only other state i normally ride in is Mississippi. They are not illegal there either. Anyways thanks for the tips. The detector works flawlessly. Very sensitive to alarm systems at pharmacies and grocery store doors and the likes. Otherwise it only hits when there is a cop with his radar or laser, ect. on .
