So last year I crashed my 2001, low-sided it in a corner causing it to flip. Crash caused a bent rear subframe and slightly bent front fairing stay (amongst other things). New subframe was installed, and bike was on the road again. Ever since then I've noticed a slight wobble at speed when there's a bump in the road. Also seems to happen on sharp deceleration. Doesn't cause a tank slapper or anything, but it feels a bit unstable. It doesn't seem to happen at low speed as far as I can tell, but it might be that I'm just used to it now. Researching this kind of thing, it looks like there are a few things that could be wrong: Head bearings (replaced last year with tapered). I haven't checked the torque on these recently, possibly could be loose? Forks bent. No, checked with run-out gauge. Wheel bearings. Doesn't seem to be any play. Tire pressures. At spec, PR3s installed. Frame bent. Don't think this is the case, measured the wheel alignment as per haynes manual and found no difference, but wasn't particularly accurate. I'm not sure if this is all in my head, or if there's actually a problem. Am I missing something basic?

Hi gents. Im refurbishing a much neglected 94 VFR750. Mostly complete. Before i got stuck into it and pulled it all apart to service i noticed it had tank wobble and would rock when you put pressure on it mostly the the left hand side. pretty noticible rock too. I'd forgotten about it till now when its been time to fit the tank back on. Its secure , its not going anywhere, it just annoys me and I dont think it came out of the Honda factory with that wobble at all. Ive pulled the tank back off and had a look and my question is did the tank have black rubber clips/stabilisers? I flipped the tank over and found a small square black strip of thin foam rubber glued to one side and on the other side the glue residue and the black piece missing. but it was stuck on the silver bike frame. from having a bit of a look on Ebay at tanks i can see some of them have like black rubber clips (which would make sense) My guess is previous owner has lost those clips at some point and has glued bits of foam on to attempt to stop the rock. And one of those bits has slipped of and restuck to the frame. idk heres some pics love to hear your experience or opinions on this cheers Metalicr (Ben)

After being sidetracked for a while, I believe I will be able to start the head bearing replacement on my 99. I have mentioned before that I am relatively new to motorcycles and extremely new to wrenching. So I am not the most knowledgeable about tools either. I read HS guide on how to do it, however there was some information missing. The Steering Stem Nut (part #90304-MJ4-670) size isn't listed. What size socket do I need for that? HS said he used a metal rod to hammer out the races, is this a special tool or just a spare piece of metal? Also seating the bearings he mentions using bearing hammer. Don't have one of those either, is there a substitute? On the new tapered rollers, he packs them with grease. What kind of grease do you use? Actually, after typing this out I am beginning to wonder if I should have this done. The cost of buying the tools might be the same as having a pro do it. Thoughts?
