  1. I'm new to the fourm and new to VFR's. I bought a 1987 VFR700F Interceptor off a guy in Chicago for $300 and I've been trying to get the bike running. Im assuming the bike has sat for some years. I bought a new battery for it and was able to key it on and get the lights and dash lights on but when I pressed the start button the lights just dimmed down and kind of fluttered. So I figured the Ignition solenoid probably needed to be replaced so I ordered one and put it on but now when I key the bike on I get absolutely nothing. Battery voltage reads 12.65 at the terminals and at the Ignition solenoid. All the fuses are good and I dont see any messed up wiring anywhere. I need some help in the direction I should go if anybody out there knows common issues these bikes have. I appreciate any knowledge I can get thank you
  2. So I recently bought my second interceptor this past weekend a 2001 vfr800 and it’s having a issue where it dies while riding and at idle for a split second then comes back the fi light comes on and I read the code as a map sensor / barometer which I ordered but I want to know if this will fix my issue because it does it when the engine isn’t running aswell any help would be great
  3. Hi (fellow sufferers😜), I'm experiencing a problem with the ABS system on my (UK reg. year '16 DCT) bike and am looking for some serious (p**s-takers and Clever Dicks, please walk on) input from other members that may have experienced a similar problem too. The bike's still under warranty ( it's 3 years on the BIG VFR) but before I again make the 160 mile round trip to my favoured Honda dealer for another ( of which, more later *) diagnostic read-out, I'm hoping there may be a simple solution that I can fix myself. I should say that though the bike is 2 years old it only had 350 miles on the clock when I bought it this April and the fact that it must have been standing for 2years or so may have some bearing on the fault which is as follows...When setting off on a ride-out the ABS light goes out at 6mph/10kph as normal, but, come the first junction/stop when applied, the front brake lever pulses quite strongly a couple of times then the system seems to go into non-ABS mode. This is quite unnerving in the wet since, as the lever goes 'dead', the instinct is to grab even more brake! After a few more miles the ABS light starts blinking and, whilst it does, the system definitely goes into non-ABS mode which is predictable and quite manageable. *I've already presented the bike at a Honda main dealers once where they accessed the fault codes stored in the ECU. They said they, the codes, were showing a 'spike' (?) and they had cleared the codes but pointed to the fact I had a GoPro camera and a GPS device both hard-wired into the bikes electrical system. They seemed to think this may have some bearing on the problem. I find this hard to believe since the camera is fully charged but rarely used and everybody else with a GPS never seems to encounter any issues and, if anything, the Honda heated grips, when in use, must draw more current than everything else put together. Anyway, I rode home but after 20 miles or so the ABS warning light was blinking again. This weekend I intend to examine 3 possible areas which could be the cause of my woes; the gap and condition of the sender units on both wheels, the condition and cleanliness of ALL the fuses and also remove the 'Middle Panel' to make sure that the large plug on the ABS unit itself does not have any 'dry' connectors. That only leaves the unit itself and other than try a substitute replacement I have no idea what to do about that. Your thoughts Gentlemen, please.
  4. Hey guys, I am in need of some advice. I have a 2014 VFR800F with a parasitic drain. Multimeter in series with (-) battery shows 0.068 Amp draw when bike is off. Battery dies after a few days of sitting... Something that caught my attention, there is a high pitched noise coming from the regulator/rectifier when the bike is completely off. When I unplugged the R/R, the drain goes away. Ok, seem like i found the problem but.. before I shell out 150ish for a new one.. I want to know if there could be a problem with the ignition switch not opening fully with the key off and "telling" the regulator to continue to pull power. I tested the diodes in the regulator/rectifier and they seem ok. Also, there is over 14V at the battery with the bike on... so it seems to be doing it's job in charging the battery just won't shut the hell off when I pull the key out. Thanks for any and all advice!!! P.S. if anyone has a wiring diagram I would be reaaally thankful! -Jad
  5. If you have seen my post on the differential oil thread, you will know that I was bonehead enough to over-torque the aluminum cap for the final drive and shear it off (I am far too used to all steel parts). Unfortunately these are nowhere to be found at dealers and they are backordered from Japan with an end of June delivery date, at the earliest. Even more unfortunate is the fact that I am supposed to be leaving on my annual trip through the Northern Cascades next Wednesday, June 12 - so needless to say, I am desperate. Does anybody have a 7th Gen that they are parting out and would be willing to sell the cap from and ship to me in Canada ASAP? I would even be more than happy to ship it back after I return. According to the dealers, these are 7th Gen specific so I can't even pilfer from another model. Sorry to trouble you all with my stupid mistake...
