  1. Help! Seb I'm installing my Autocom and em looking for a keyed hot for a signal for relay. I know I could tie into this one or that one but I can not find out what 3 out of the 4 fuses are for and were they go on a stock bike (my bike). My owner's and shop manuals don't have the info.

Why worry about the fuses? Just tap into/trigger your relay with the taillight positive wire, and run an inline fuse from the battery to your accessory.

Because it is some thing I don't now about my bike. I can't find my schematic and the Honda shop manual dos not have it. And if you tie into the tail light wire you will disable the tail light warning light.

See where I'm going with this?

I'll use two zip ties to secure it once it's wired in, even with one it felt pretty secure but I'm not taking any chances.

Hopefully more to come very soon!

Good use chin fairing for a 83

Witch brings up the point why I have to replace mine.

    gallery_8868_2008_204211.jpg

    Exhaust heat damage

So if you did not know all ready put some heat shield on the inside of the fairing.

Witch Honda did (I think in 84 and up).

    And wrap your exhaust.

    gallery_8868_2008_582099.jpg

Wrap IT! 83's will melt the fairing.

Yes I would like to have wrapped it all the way back but thats all I had.

Put this on your list, I don't want you damage that masterpiece

  5. Will These pegs of Randy's fit 4th gens? Im looking for a drop peg and would definitely like to support someone taking the time to make parts for the VFR.

Haven't gotten as far a figuring out what other years and models these will fit. Boy do I get tons of email from all over asking if such and such footpeg will also fit so and so bike. Hopefullly others on VFRD can help with this. Finished the first protype set of Tapered pegs for the VFR this weekend. Here is a pic of the right side on a rearset. Will send the set off Monday to tightwad.

    Please check for 83!!!

  6. Having the oil hole is no guarantee of cam survival - I have cams with oil holes and at 70K Kms and two of the eight have pitting on them - no oil mod installed until last season. An oil mod is cheap insurance IMHO - from what I've read the oil mod completely cured the cam wear problem not just delayed it.

You are right, I have one cam lobe with some small pitting (I have cam's with oil holes and no oil mod). I em now installing a oil mod.

ps: don't drill the hole as I have done, off set it closer to the inside (closer to the center of the engine. Gives you more room away from the frame).

  7. Not sure, got a pic I can compare to?

Sorry it took so long. The car broke down and I have been trying to get head gaskets for my bike (I will post info on that on my thread).

Here is my original cam from my 3-83. You can see it has no oil hole in the lobe. And the 10mm freeze plug in the end had a hole in it (no photo).

    Putting the back on 100.JPG

And here is I think late 83 or 84 cams. You can see a oil hole. I have about 100,000 mi's on these cams.

I'm just worried about your bike with such low mi's. I have never read any thing about this but it makes sense.

  8. Change channel. Does your cams have oil holes in the heals of the cam lobes? My first set of cams DID NOT and I lost a cam lobe. I em the second owner and

Honda would not warranty them. One day I was at a auto wrecking yard and I saw a interceptor frame and engine laying out front. I asked what's up with the bike?

They said the engine is locked up and they are selling it for parts. I pulled the valve covers and all 4 cams were in good shape. I bought the engine complete and have used many parts off it over the years. Well the cam's have been in the bike for over 100,000 mi. and no problems. And that is one reason why I have not did a oil mod. I em thinking of doing mine with brake lines. Any pro's and con's with brake lines?

  9. Another neat item on the mod list - I was inspired by this pic I found on the web to go on a hunt for a clear automotive head light to use(some of you may remember the post), well, I found out it's the same unit used in early '90s Chevy S-10s, H60something or other. I bought a pair, and member Chickenofthesea(Matt) and I split the cost. We might upgrade to HID together later this year!

Enjoy. More posting when I can.

Tell me about the S-10 head light install? Did it bolt right in or did you have to mod it? And did you see the new HI/LO HID bulbs?
