  1. Can someone mebay explain to me what is actually goes failure in a CCT.

The mechanical consturctie is not so complex, I think. Of course one says wear, but then what?

I do not understand a f***! And my VTEC ratlles like hell

I think the spring just gets weak a can't push as hard as need be.... Swapped mine today, and feeling new with old and that's what it seemed like to me..

And I think its just the top one that was causing noise... It seemed to be extended almost fully, and the lower rear doesn't seem to be out that much at all. So that might go along with the weak spring deal on the one..

  2. Yes... Not "all" lower octane fuels have Ethanol. But, they do in the Northeast (save about three gas stations). I thought locally and wrote globally. :)

They do here in Ontario :(

Been law since 2011... And common practice since 07, that all regular grade fuel to be E10...

  3. But, the plumbing "inside" the pump should only have the grade of fuel that is to be pumped, right before it is moved into the hose... No? So, the only residual would still be what's in the hose.

One would think, but not from what my gas pump QC buddy tells me..

Those big tall single hose, mutli mix pumps, have 2 pump motors at the bottom where the two supply lines come in one for 87 and 91, where it meets a set of mix valves. Than its all common pluming from there, for filtration, metering, and anything else going on in side the pump. Makes the pump cheaper to build and easier maintain.

But there is an easy fix... Just make sure your are second in line to get fuel behind someone else, that way, the cheap stuff has been push out by then

  4. Looks like that should do the trick...

I will say, spending the money on a good bike GPS is worth it. I bought my Zumo back in 07, and it's seen 80,000km on the bike, plus 7000km on the snowmobile, along with countless miles in rental cars. Last year I had to spend $27 on E-bay and replace the touch screen, as I scratched it, throwing a cargo strap passed it, tying the sled down...

The Zumo line is built to last and it does.

  5. According to the Wall Street Journal, the American Petroleum Institute states that approximately 1/3 of a gallon of fuel remains in the pump, not 2 gallons. Pretty big difference...

I saw that... "According to the American Petroleum Institute the gas-pump hose typically retains about one third of a gallon of fuel." Gas pump hose is 3/4 inch.. 0.037 gallons per foot on a 3/4 line, hoses are between 9-12 feet.. The math agrees, about 1/3 of a gallon in the hose.

However they totally left out the fact that 9-12 foot hose (depending on the pump) can be mounted sometimes on a pump 7-8 feet in the air. Now add the network of piping inside the pump, for metering, and valving, and don't forget there is a single and sometimes dual stage fuel filter system in there as well. Doesn't take long to see, there is a lot more of whatever the guy before you bought goes in to your tank, before you get what you want in yours.

  6. Your wasting your money on premium fuel in your VFR unless your getting it from a gas pump with a special premium hose...

Buddy I mine is a QC manager at a gas pump manufactor.

He told me is your buying gas from a pump with a single hose and just a selector button for fuel grade, you may have to pump up to 2 gallons of fuel. Before you flush out whatever the guy before you bought.

So on your VFR with its 4.8 gallon tank, you might end up with half a tank of unknown before the good stuff makes it to you.

As far as the ethanol issue.. Yes it will steal about 5% on your mileage. I have a 2013 Dodge Dart that has a Turbo in it, and the manual says to us a 91 fuel. Not sure what it's like in the US, but here in Canada, Shell Vpower is the only 91 fuel you can buy from a brand name station that is ethanol free. So if your spending the extra make sure it's really ethanol free, just because the pump doesn't say it's got ethanol, doesn't mean it's actually ethanol free.

  7. Booked our room this morning, they are still holding for VFRD, lady who answered the phone said they where sold out, until I told here I was VFRD...

Got the last double room, there are a few singles left, but not much...

Kid brother and I, are leaving the great white north late Tuesday night (11pm ish) so we should be there around a little after dinner time Wednesday..

Hope the weather down there is nice, still haven't gotten out of the teens (50's F) here...

  8. I agree 100% earplugs with helmet speakers is the way to go.

Yup, an using ear plugs helps to reduces rider fatigue. If you have never used ear plugs try them. Even the cheap foam ones will turn a 250mile day in to 300+ with engery left.

  9. if it has the vtec same engine as the 2007 i had honda again lost another sale- Ill stick with my gear driven cam vfr 700--

You didn't like your 07? I love mine, 50,000miles later and that V-Tech is still sweet music to my eats when it kicks, and smooth as can be when it happens.

So does this mean the 1200 is gone? Or are we going to have two bikes in production with the VFR badge of them?

However is it just me, or does it look a bit like an old 600 Katana from a few of the side shots. Just the way the head lights are cut on the side, with that near straight and level pipe.

  10. But apart from GPS and all this stuff, let's not forget to teach our children how to NAVIGATE using a map (and compass) for when the battery dies...

(I have encounterd people on the Scottish hills in adverse weather, trying to navigate holding their smartphone, near sheer cliffs. No map, no skills, no nothing)

How true you are there.. I have 2 kids learning to drive right now. They just did their in class for drivers Ed at the end of August. They spent 4 hours in class learning the basics of understanding how to read, and fold (LOL) a road map.

Never crossed my mind at first, because map reading was part of high school 25 odd years ago, when i was there. But not today, classes like that have been replaced dance and cosmetology, you know classes that are more important than understanding what a map is.

  11. $700!!!???? That's a just plain stupid price. I think it is pretty cool with the Curvy Roads feature, but no way is it $700 cool. I'll just keep using my Nuvi 750 as I have for the past three years and several thousand miles.

Yup price is a little hard to take that's for sure, but the Zumo units are tough and worth every cent.

My 450 has seen 80,000+kms on the bike, exposed to hot sun and blinding rain storms. Plus 10,000km more doing double duty in the winter on the sled, getting hit by -30c temps and freezing rain and snow. After almost 8 years of hell, and always being outside, it still works like the day it came out of the box, wen the battery will still power it for almost 3 hours.

I'd like a new one, but can't justify I with this one working so well still.

  12. The new Garmin Zumo 390LM has a new mode called Curvy Roads, which like the shortest and quickes route modes, looks for the route with the most fun.

Plus they have added extras like a service history log, tire pressure monitoring system and a bunch of others

  13. I wonder if there is any noticeable difference between the 30 fps vs. 60 fps @ 720p unless you are doing slow motion playback?

Only 2 weeks late LOL, but yes.... I ran 60fps by mistake once on my GoPro, really don't see much of an imporvement other than it fills your card twice as fast.
