After a day and a half of crap weather, it's hard to say if I picked the right day to leave. I did really enjoy the ride out with Bob and Dan and of course Brian leading before heading home. Was nice to have some company on the slab portion after. Today was nasty, but I have what looks (on the map) to be an interesting ride tomorrow in nice weather. Wednesday is back to Deals Gap and Cherohala. Also supposed to be good weather. So it'll be a great wrap up!
Nice. Stay safe, have a good ride home!

Looks like someone dislocated a finger in this shot
I see three dislocated fingers
I looked and it seems there is a severe shortage of pics. I guess I spent most of the time with a beverage in hand. I do have a surprising amount of food pics. I'll post when it gets slower at work.
Lessons learned:
-Maple whiskey should not be chased with Sam Adams
-There is no substitute for good heated gear
-ChaCha hut burps are not as tasty as the food itself
-There is a severe lack of coffee establishments in NY
Mostly, the Catskills are beautiful. If you've never been, you need to go.

Home safe. Thanks to everyone who came out this year. It was a smaller group, but still an outstanding time. Special thanks goes to Seb (aka: Ball Rider) for once again hosting and sharing his home turf with us and Brian (aka RamBall Thief) for scouting, sweeping and finding the way.
More to follow.

I'll be leaving NH between 12-2. Headed west thru VT across the Green Mnts, then break south once I get to NY. Anything to avoid MA
Should be at the hotel around 4-6 PM. See you guys then!

I just made my reservations. FYI, I got the sense that rooms are filling up. If you're on the fence, you might want to grab a room now.

New Kawi Concours 14, just picked it up this year as a leftover.
The VFR was borrowed by my brother-in-law last month and he managed to crash twice in one day
I'm still in the process of fixing/replacing all the parts (left rad, peg hanger, bar and lever, etc.), but I keep putting it off to allocate funds for other projects.
Sooooooo, I'll most likely take the Connie. Not as nimble as the VFR, but it's not like I ride like Rossi anyway
-
Time off work? Check.
She who must be obeyed? Out of town with the kid, check.
VFR fully repaired? Not even close.
I'll be there, but it's looking like it'll be on the OTHER bike
-
I'm hopefully in. Still waiting on parts for the VFR with no ETA, so I may be on the Concours14
Work will be the deciding factor, but it's a holiday weekend so I should be good to go.

I for one don't come for the accommodations. I come for the great people, great food, and the outstanding ride. I look forward to this ride every year, it'll be a pleasure to go this year as well.
All your hard work is appreciated!

Matt,
PM sent. Let me know if you need anything. My brother-in-law dumped my 6th gen and I've got some spares you can have.

Matt,
Sorry to hear about your mishap, but I'm glad you're ok. I was sorry to miss this one, but I had plans all weekend (daughters bday).

I need to see this.
I have fantastic footage of Goat F*&^ Rd (Bullet Hole Rd). Just have to figure out how to convert MP4 to avi so as to clip it down to a manageable size from 3.4GB.
Note: No goats were harmed in the ride, however, many profanities were heard over the gear driven cams.

Timmy seemed to have a fondness for men with pipes.

PICS!
Morning coffee before the ride:
He was there in spirit:
Bikes got very dirty:
Except for one. I swear it absorbed all the mud, grim and dirt. And it became stronger for it:
The last stop before the end of the day Saturday. The rain finally cleared and it got COLD!
Later at dinner that night, Timmy seemed cranky about something. I don't know him all that well, so maybe it was his normal demeanor. He was fine at first:
But something seemed to ruin his dinner:

I arrived home cold, wet, but safely about 1600 yesterday. My wife glared at me, handed over our three month old daughter and calmly said "your turn". She then went shopping. The price I pay I guess
Well worth it. Even with the less than stellar riding conditions, it was a blast. A huge thanks to Seb and Brian for all the work they did to set this up. Also to Travis for leading the scenic group. Here's a hint. Scenic does not mean let's go play in the woods with the goats
A great time, it was a pleasure to meet/ride/drink with everyone.

Anyone had trouble calling the motel? I've been trying for two days to get through to make reservations and I keep getting a busy signal.
-
I might take you up on that. Are you guys slabbing it in or going back roads?
I'm good to go... reservation confirmed. Joe Bone & I plan to leave central Mass at noonish and arrive later Friday afternoon.
Anyone interested in joining us for the ride let me know...

Sure, done it. But not by choice. Had a small get off on a track day. Left bar was bent back and down into the faring. I didn't have a replacement so I grabbed a length of pipe and bent it back. This was done only as a temp fix to finish out the day. After replacing the whole clip on later, I could see what I would describe as stress fractures in the riser part of the bar. Not being much of a metal worker, I could not say if heating would avoid this.
That being said, the current ASV levers I'm using have been bent and beaten back into shape a few times and they are still rock solid.
YMMV

Seb, if your still interested, you can check mine out at the Catskills ride. I've got the medium on my 06. I'm on my second set, very happy with them.

Can you replicate it while on the center stand?
Nope, just tried.

This is gonna sound crazy, but I've noticed my front suspension is squeaking over bumps. 6th gen with 20K on it, never had any work done on it. Is it time for some fork work?

It's been an age. My VFR is long gone, but I held on to a few parts. One is a very nice Sargent seat off of a 2006 VFR. It's Black CF with black trim, and it's free to whoever will come pick it up. In great shape, just needs a home. I'm in Southern NH and can workout any details. Please PM.
