  1. I have some, but only have set up for running lights. I have been meaning to wire up as Turn, but haven't gotten around to it. To set up as turn signals you will need some Diodes from Radio Shack. Part number 276-114 Silicon 2.5A* 1000V (3 in a package). They are cheap.. less that 5 bucks if I remember correctly. The Suzuki bulbs are $8.00 each, so prepare yourself for that sticker shock. I ended up converting mine to standard 1156 or 1157s bulbs( don't remember off the top of my head- dual filament ones) and those bulbs are 3.00 or so for a pair at Napa.

Search is your friend.. I found the proper thread.

  2. I am just getting more confused now. I picked up a Elka on the Super Group Buy 1.0. On my 5th Gen I went with a 3 way with Hydrolic preload. I spec'ed the rear shock with me being 200# naked. I wanted it firm but responsive(not harsh) and I have a full Givi set up with a Wingrack that I tour with. The Givi set up is not on except for long trips. I usually have a Givi hard tail bag right over the tail light. The Tech @ Elka emailed me to verify my weight and set up

Vlad called me and let me know what spring they put on my rear shock and its a 900# spring.

Sorry Vlad, must of missed Jasons name when we spoke, and thanks Jason for the link.

My rear seems really soft as I read thru all these threads. Especially since I am around 220 at this point.

  3. So I am not confused. Some of you folks are using Mobil 1 Full Synthetic with the flags and "Race Proven" written on the bottle 15w50 that you can get at Wally World for about $22 per Gallon? And no where on the gallon jug it says Motorcycle specific or good for Wet clutches?

Read up on oil from BR's link from page 1.

I also like the info on oil found here, they also have a great oil filter cross reference listed to and I now use only WalMart's SuperTech ST 7317 filters as they have superior filtering then most at the cheapest price(made by Champion)

Then BLS also made a post on page 1 regarding issues with the wet clutch. All your questions are answered in this very thread. wink.gif

I have read all the threads above and on to the links as well. I kind of glaze over after a few pages. I just picked up some 7317 filters at Wally-World, and I know BR switched back to M-1. I picked up some non Delvac M-1(probably my mistake) (assuming its automotive) and wanted to verify before poring this into the VFR. Maybe I will just go back and pick up the Rotella. Opinions on Oil are like.........belly buttons, and everyone has one. I just try to see what the majority of folks use, then filter that with the the opinions of the people that I think that they know what their talking about and pick from there.

    Edit:

I knew I read it somewhere...

I switched back to Mobil 1 using there old 15w50 racing syn, it has the checked flags on the front and think it's the only one that states "Racing Approved" on the container.

The VFR and Track bike are both happily using the 15w-50 and the Diesel is still on the Rotella.

I think I may have answered my own question.

Quote from "All about Oil" by Mark Lawrence

"Mobil-1 automotive oils all contain small amounts of moly - about 100 to 200 ppm. This can cause clutch slippage in some motorcycles. I've only heard of this being a problem in Honda Shadows. "

I don't ride a Shadow, and don't think I ever have. I did ride a Saber once, and that was close enough for me to know it's not my preferred riding style.

  5. Just wanted to let people know that I am sold out of slider kits . My short riding season is about to start and I told myself that riding was going to be a priority this year, so it's going to be a few months before kits will be available again, I will be making more.

    Cheers

    Darren

Wheeewwww.. I got mine just in time too. I am glad I did not procrastinate any longer. They are on my list of mods, but I have not done it yet.

Thanks Radar for the awesome product.

  6. I went the cheap and simple route. I bought a Kryptonite mountain bike seatpost cable and Craftsman small brass lock. I carry this in my tankbag or backpack and lock my helmet (over the chinbar/thru shield area) thru my handlebars or fork tripleclamp. Cost me about $10. Of course it's not 100% secure, but it is effective enough to deter a bad guy just walking by, eyeing my helmet and thinking evil thoughts.

    Helmet cable lock

Yea, I forgot that I use one of those on my Bandit as well. Loop thru chin bar, thru the grab handle(its bolted in 2 places) and then down to the worthless stock helmet lock. It just sits there my seat and wont fall off. Its a total PITA to just put helmet on the stock helmet lock.
