rigger4343
Seems as though there was a little interest in something I mentioned earlier in another post about being able to mount the OEM bags on the 6th gen when you do not have the factory fender. So.... here is a little write up and some pictures to show it can be done. I was using soft bags but ever since I brought this bike home, I wanted OEM bags for it. Well due to a fellow member on here selling a set of new, never been installed bags for my bike, I just had to have them. The install was really simple. Almost all of the factory mounting hardware was used. It actually all went on the bike in about 30-45 minutes tops. The PO had mounted the plate up high and tight between the pipes but this was not going to work with the factory mounts. It did take a little longer to decide what I was going to do for the plate though. Only extra thing I needed was a little aluminum flat bar about 1" wide and thin enough to bend and shape. Took a piece and drilled a hole about in the middle and used one of the mounting bolts on the lower connecting cross brace as a mounting point. Two more holes for top and bottom mounting points for the plate and that was it! I did space the plate off of it just enough to clear the bolt heads on the cross brace but that was easy. I should have taken pictures before mounting the plate but I did not so hopefully you guys will get the idea. I did not have a good way to re-use the factory plate light so I just got set of the LED plate bolts/lights to use on the top of the pate and some stainless steel bolts on the bottom. After it was mounted up, I think what i should have done was get the LED lights in chrome so they would have matched the bottom bolts better. I had some little flashing LED brake lights that I wanted to reuse also so again I took a little bit of the aluminum flat bar and made some mounts in the same fashion as the plate mounts. Stuck them on with some double stick tape and that was it. Pretty easy and turned out looking decent. So there you go. It can be done without much effort. Included is one picture of where the plate was.

rigger4343
It didn't turn out too bad. I would have liked to have gotten the plate up higher but it would not fit between the pipes. But overall, I am happy with it. Now we just need to go on a good ride somewhere and use our luggage!
