Guys, I have a 4th gen VFR with 25k that I've had for 5 years now and I've done lots of upgrades to it (attached). I love the thing and can't imagine selling it. But I've always lusted the RC51 SP2 and finally in a place where I can possibly afford one that has not been abused. It's actually in MINT condition, first owner, factory everything down to tail light, including dealer brochures. Except for the Jardine full system and a PC3 (attached). But I'm on the fence because all the white noise in my head. it's a 14 year old heavy bike with outdated machinery compared to newer stuff. Why am I spending so much for something this old when the 2017 CBR is supposed to kill everything. also the fact that I probably won't get much back for this bike in terms of resale value since it's a small market etc etc. Then on the other hand I am a VFR owner and there's a plethora of reasons for owning something so unique, beautifully engineered with a rich racing heritage. So here's your chance to donate your 2¢.

Hi guys, so i have just finished up my front end swap on my 3rd gen, but the fairings are still bare naked fiberglass, and as this would be the third time that this bike has needed a color change i was hoping some of you guys can give me some ideas & point me in the right direction. 1st color scheme 2nd color scheme how she looks at the moment so while I was busy with my build, i was scratching my head on what i should do with the color scheme for the bike when she was on the road again, & I still have not come up with any good ideas. the one suggestion i kept getting was to spray the whole bike black, & polish the rims up completely, but i found this pic & I am not sure if i like it. I have got a set of nice red Honda decals that I intend on using when I spray the bike. . Please share you ideas & thoughts.

I'm ashamed to say that a Greek couple's VFR 750 was stolen while they were holidaying in Cork, Ireland. It's my home city, a place I am really proud of, and usually a nice place to be. To hear something like this happen to the couple broke me heart. News report of it is here: http://www.thejournal.ie/man-motorbike-stolen-cork-1626149-Aug2014/ They had ridden through all of Europe to get to Ireland and when they came out of their accomodation one morning, the bike, with all of their gear in the panniers and topbox, was gone. It was later found dumped in the River Lee not far from the accommodation. It turns out the thieving b******* could not start it so dumped it instead. Thankfully the biking community in Cork rallied around for Niko and his partner and assisted them in returning to Greece, albeit without their precious VFR. Members of biker.ie were particularly involved with this. I am also proud to say that my club, the University College Cork Motorcycle Club, were able to take the VFR to our workshop where we are drying it out and refurbishing it with the hope of putting it back on the road so Niko and his partner can return to finish their holiday someday. He really appreciates our efforts but this is how biking works. You can follow updates on the refurbing of the bike on a little blog we set up here: http://vfr750rescue.blogspot.com Our Facebook page is www.facebook.com/uccmotorcycleclub

Hi everyone, I recently connected a 12v socket and a USB charging socket to the VFR. It got me thinking about electrical stuff again. I love switches and guages, the more the better, so what have you got on yours? I added an LED voltmeter to my dash but apart from that it is fairly stock. Here is a pic. You can see the voltmeter to the left of the neutral light: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-V8Vxif9AVyA/VGky-bMy9LI/AAAAAAAAQ3Q/1P6kGGkepog/w624-h832-no/IMG_20141116_154912.jpg I have my heated grip box located just below and to the left of the ignition then. For me, the more switches or guages there are, the better! I think I could do more! What have you got?

I think this third gen in RC30 dress looks fantastic. I don't know who build it. I guess the fairings are aftermarket (Pferrer?) Pic of the bike next to a real RC30 -

First Up - Hullo All! Thanks for having me etc etc... Wanted to pick your collective brains regarding exhaust link pipes for a moment. Here in the UK its getting very hard to find decent aftermarket exhaust systems to the point that Ive given up on the Staintune dream and am looking at alternatives. I was hoping to source a high level can but then I bought some throw over panniers so that is no longer an option. Now Im thinking, a left exit pipe could be the answer (Honda really should have done it originally IMO). That creates a problem finding a link pipe. Googling doesn't reveal much and I cant imagine it would be cheap to get one custom made. Call me hairbrained, but is there anything stopping me using a length of flexible exhaust pipe (eg http://www.flexiducting.co.uk/metal_hoses_17.html) to do the job? I guess it could even be lagged which could help the aesthetics. I'm thinking that it wouldn't stand out that much whilst snaking around the back of the engine. Thoughts/Ideas appreciated! Ben

Honda VFR 750 RC36- Extremely high fuel consumption?
Guest posted a topic in Third and Fourth Generation VFR's
Hello once again ! I will try to put this as short as possible. Thank you for your patience =D. So I recently bought a Honda VFR 750 RC36 1990.. The bikes look is modified (I am finishing what PO started)I think the only related to my"problem" in this could be the 190 rear tire. The engine is as far as I know complete stock (except the wings slip on). So here is the thing, the bike starts from the first crank, even if it sits for month, no choke needed.Works like the perfectly healthy bike (i noticed a little knock sound while idleing, but I think it is because of too low idle (it is about 800rpm, even lower when hot) or maybe the clutch bearing (since the sound almost completly go away when I engage the clutch). If you rev it a little in neutral the throttle reaction is amazing and fast..There is a issue with temp. gauge.. The gauge never goes up past 1/4 no matter how long the ride is,and it is obvious that the bike is warm (vent/cooler starts while waiting on the traffic lights, huge amounts of hot air coming from a bike, so I am not suspecting a thermostat) While riding: 2 things I noticed: 1st there are no quiet detonations/backfireing like on "normal bikes with slip on" but while engine braking there pops a LOOOUUUDDD BOOOOMM.. The loudest I heard on the street bike ( and I had a few "poper bikes"). If I accelerate little more aggressively and then let off the throttle the pop would be even louder. 2nd. I was riding it like a granny all the time so I decided to give it a little speed. So I opened the full throttle in 1st, the bike jumped to 10 000rpm and kinda stoped there , shifted it to 2nd opened full throttle bike jumped again very fast to 10 000rpm and just stoped there.. No more power producing from there, it didnt sound like the limiter, it just stand there powerless and couldnt pass that 10 000rpm.. And now the problem: While riding it granny style , low rpms etc for entire gas tank. the best I could get is about 22MPG , or about 60 miles per tank ( while gauge got to red reserve mark i tanked it to full, and got 60 miles to that same gauge position). While looking at the consumption experience from my other bikes and from other vfr owners this is brutal.. And gas is very expensive here.. The bike is probably running rich ,but there are no hard gas smells or something. So as this is my first vfr, does this bikes have some known issues (except R/R) to be related with consumption , or should just classic carb detail clean, new air and fuel filter , carb sync, spark plugs do the trick? Thank you!
