So I did sell my 5ht gen, the farewel topic here: http://www.vfrdiscussion.com/forum/index.php/topic/80498-a-farewel/ I had plans the just rebuild the XT600 Tenere I did buy last year, and may add a 1986-89 VFR750F to the garage some later. That what I tought, then as I browsed some sale sites for VFR750s as I was bored at work, I did find this on a Dutch site: A 1985 VF500F2 registred in early 1986, only ~39k kms (~24k miles) on the odo and did look very clear in the pics. Prize 850€ (~900$), Its a bike I almost did buy back in 1997, but as a friend worknig at a bikeshop told me VF was bad, VFR was good, I did not buy it (eventualy did buy a Kawasaki GPZ500S (EX500) instead). Did sleep over night, next evening I did send a PM to Dutchy. He did call the seller, set a appointment to go and see the bike as it was close. So as Dutchy had seen the bike, ridden it etc, he did call me and tell me yesterday, there was only one thing wrong whit the bike, he would like to buy it for himself! Buy fortunally he has no space for 2 bikes, and so he did buy it for me and drove it home to keep in his garden untill I will pick it up! Hopfully your wife is understanding I now have a airplane ticket for May 1st to Amsterdam, then May 2nd I will hit the road and ride that nice bike home to Finland! Thanks Dutchy so far!

I found a bike for 5500 and 4 thousand miles. it is a 2007 vfr. beautiful condition. Should I buy it?? I would really like to give the vfr a new home.. should I be worried about the extreme low miles given the age? it is at a third party dealership, is this all good? thanks

Guys, I have a 4th gen VFR with 25k that I've had for 5 years now and I've done lots of upgrades to it (attached). I love the thing and can't imagine selling it. But I've always lusted the RC51 SP2 and finally in a place where I can possibly afford one that has not been abused. It's actually in MINT condition, first owner, factory everything down to tail light, including dealer brochures. Except for the Jardine full system and a PC3 (attached). But I'm on the fence because all the white noise in my head. it's a 14 year old heavy bike with outdated machinery compared to newer stuff. Why am I spending so much for something this old when the 2017 CBR is supposed to kill everything. also the fact that I probably won't get much back for this bike in terms of resale value since it's a small market etc etc. Then on the other hand I am a VFR owner and there's a plethora of reasons for owning something so unique, beautifully engineered with a rich racing heritage. So here's your chance to donate your 2¢.

Just picked this thing up a week ago and have been loving every moment of it. It's in excellent shape and has 23k miles on it. I am in the process of changing out all the fluids, and chain/ sprockets. I love this thing! I just came off a FZ1. Can't wait to do some long trips on it!

Recently Mrs suggested that maybe it’s time to look into a new bike. My 2004 VFR800, I’ve had since, well 2004, and I’m not silly enough to seek confirmation of her suggestion (in case she changes her mind). I’ve had my eye on this recently. Though not the yellow one. Ducati Streetfighter 848 Yesterday morning I got to have a ride of the Demo bike at the dealership. First impressions (compared to my VFR) very narrow at the seat, but taller felt like the front was missing…. no fairing, panel is set closer in etc. pegs a lot closer to the ground so legs are a lot straighter. That was a big surprise. Fired it up and a nice V-twin warble from the pipes. Bit of a crackle. Very nice sound and I wonder what other pipes would sound like on it. Then we left on the demo ride, basically a follow the leader with a guy from the shop and a couple of others testing other bikes (a BMW S1000RR and a couple of K1300). Awesome brakes neat sound very responsive engine once you’re over about 3000rpm. hopeless shaky mirrors (but I think all Ducati’s have that problem!) Easy to ride and a fairly upright position But I finished up feeling a lot less interested than when I left. Well no that's not right... I'm totally confused. Eventually, I'm sure I could get used to another bike. I've always been the kind of person who rides around a problem, rather than obsess about it. The VTEC change for example. It's never bothered me, I've never felt out of control when it's kicked in (even in the wet, or on curves. I think part of it was the newness, and part of it was the whole "don't like group rides" theme that's been growing over the past twelve months. It was a group test and rather than "going for a ride" I spent the session worrying over where were we headed, where is the leader, where are camera and cops, which lane should I be in, are we turning here or there etc etc. So maybe I need to get out with that group again and ride the same route again. Or should I try a different style of bike. For example I've always had a soft spot for the GSXR750 or the Ducati 848. Maybe a full on sport bike is more what I am feeling. Or maybe its a case of take my savings, and redo the forks, rear suspension, get a rear hugger etc for the VFR. As you can see, the ride has left me more confused that ever!
