Hello all, I’ve recently purchased a 2002 VFR 800 (50k km) for dirt cheap off someone who had cracked the crankcase and couldn’t be bothered to have it repaired. This resulted in him leaving it sitting in his yard for just over a year and allowing rust to form in his tank. I managed to replace the crankcase cover and clear 99% of the rust out of the tank as well as replacing the fuel pump assembly, however, I had left the rest of the fuel system as is, After that it was running and riding fine, until I decided to dump some injector cleaner in it of which I used a little too much which caused the bike to stop running. I drained the tank and chucked in a fresh tank of petrol but when I started it it was sputtering and stalling with any blip of throttle and was shooting TONS of fuel out the exhaust so much so that it drained half a tank in about couple mins and made my garage a gas filled bomb waiting to blow. You can see in the photo the mist and even drops of fuel coming out After letting the bike use the rest of the fuel I thought it may be leaky injectors due to something being dislodged when I used the cleaner. I pulled out the whole fuel system but I’m not sure if 1. it’s worth somehow testing them and cleaning somehow or 2. if I should replace them. Or if it’s even the injectors at all and maybe the fuel pressure regulator. I’m no mechanic so any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I also noticed they are green injectors which when I researched online are very expensive to replace. So is there any chance the brown ones off the newer models are compatible as they are widely available for me. Thanks heaps Tom

For some reason, my 1998 VFR has started blowing the 10 amp fuse for the brake lights and turn signals. I've done a little poking about, making sure it has the correct bulbs, looking for corrosion in the sockets, reinstalling with dielectric grease... Yesterday I thought I the culprit was a slightly loose spade connection to the front brake light switch, but this morning, the new fuse had blown before I turned on to the main road out of my neighborhood. I'm planning on digging in deeper tomorrow, as I'm sure there are some connectors I haven't seen yet. Are there any likely suspects I should be on the lookout for? Thanks,

Need some help from the 6th gen experts here - changing my clattering, rattling CCTs today. Rear went fine, easy as pie. Then I gently extracted the front one so as to not disturb the metal cap annnnnddddd out came a CCT with no cap at all, just a rubber bumper completely destroyed and worn through all the way to the plunger’s metal base (see attached pic). I guess I now know the source of the god-awful noises coming from the motor, but any ideas on how this could happen? Could the PO have installed without the metal cap - or could the cap somehow come off while under tension (I assume not)? If the cap was in there somewhere, I’m guessing that would’ve been catastrophic already. I also presume those lost little rubber bits are now swimming in the engine - could that cause major damage if it hasn’t already? As background, I’ve been getting some rattling above 3.5-4K rpm for the last 5000 miles or so, and very loud metallic clatter from the front bank the last time I started the motor - though it idled and revved okay. None of the usual failing CCT idle rattles, but I just had a hunch as it’s the Achilles heel and always a good place to start. Any advice is appreciated, as always.

Evening all. My header pipes are hole-free, but look like rusted ass. All surface stuff. Just wondering what the recommended method is for removing it without having to do more than taking the bodywork off for access. I'll be taking the panels off, cleaning the pipes and then coating them with VHT and i don't want to risk stripping a bolt and all the hassle and cost associated with it. I also have limited time to do the job (maybe 6-8 hours at most, for bench access). If it's just a case of flossing with sand paper? Can do. Simple, just requires some elbow-grease, but if there's a better/quicker method which doesn't cost much? I'm all ears. From there: Masking off and painting the pipes with black VHT Might spend a little and get some satin black Simoniz, rather than the flat black i have access to.
