  1. REDUCED PRICE: $6695.00 package deal You've heard it all before: marriage + baby = motorcycle for sale! I purchased this low-mileage beauty from a retired engineer several years back and find myself adding fewer and fewer miles each season – grand total on the odometer at this point is just under 8K miles. The Seventh Generation VFR is a technological marvel—offering supremely capable handling, all-day comfort, and a WHOLE LOTTA TORQUE in one very attractive package. I’ve owned three different generations of the Honda Interceptor, and this one really stands out as a great all-around bike. This excellent condition, freshly inspected (and adult-owned) cycle features the following accessories: DAM exhaust canister with removable baffles (handmade in the Netherlands—supreme quality, performance, and sound. Look them up!) OEM exhaust canister 3 windscreens (OEM, Zero-Gravity Double Bubble, Puig Racing) Matching OEM luggage (top case, side panniers, mounting system) – literally used one time! Extra seat (OEM) Cover Factory service manual Owner’s manual Front and rear Pit-Bull stands Located in the Rochester NY area. Local pick-up only. No rides. $6695.00 package deal
  2. Hi everyone. I had a near dead experience past week due to my 2010 Honda VFR1200 having a major braking malfunction. I have owned the old school 2002 and 2004 vfr800 and they have been nothing but a blessing to ride, so I decided I give the vfr1200 a try. Got one a few months back in almost pristine condition and with only 13k miles. The other day I took this bike out for a ride in the back roads. Towards the end of my ride (I was riding a pretty good pace) Im going about 60 mph I apply the front brakes and nothing I apply the rears and nothing. The entire brake system it seemed was disengaged. I thought for sure I was going to crash but I somehow managed to make it out of the turn (If I didn't I would have been on the bottom of the mountain and pretty dead). When I came to a stop I noticed fluid dripping all over my rear tire which seemed to be coming from the rear brake caliper. After I came to a stop and restarted the bike in like 2 mins the front brake was working fine now but the rear brake was still gone. I got home inspected the brakes and I will include pictures of what I saw. I have never seen anything like this. The rear brake pads which were pretty new have been grinded down to bare metal, the disk pad is shredded and the caliper pistons have been pushed out with such force that they have peeled back into themselves like a banana, in the process the o-rings have blown and all the rear brake fluid has been leaked out. I would like to add that the front brake system is absolutely fine. You can imagine at this point I'm quite upset. I have a few questions from the VFR experts and mechanics in here. Look at the pictures and give me your input on what might have happened here cause i'm clueless. Can the ABS system on this bike completely disable both the front and rear brake systems? If yes isn't that a big safety issue? What would cause the pistons to act in such way? Any input appreciated I will soon talk to an expert mechanic that will inspect the bike and a lawyer.
  3. Hi (fellow sufferers😜), I'm experiencing a problem with the ABS system on my (UK reg. year '16 DCT) bike and am looking for some serious (p**s-takers and Clever Dicks, please walk on) input from other members that may have experienced a similar problem too. The bike's still under warranty ( it's 3 years on the BIG VFR) but before I again make the 160 mile round trip to my favoured Honda dealer for another ( of which, more later *) diagnostic read-out, I'm hoping there may be a simple solution that I can fix myself. I should say that though the bike is 2 years old it only had 350 miles on the clock when I bought it this April and the fact that it must have been standing for 2years or so may have some bearing on the fault which is as follows...When setting off on a ride-out the ABS light goes out at 6mph/10kph as normal, but, come the first junction/stop when applied, the front brake lever pulses quite strongly a couple of times then the system seems to go into non-ABS mode. This is quite unnerving in the wet since, as the lever goes 'dead', the instinct is to grab even more brake! After a few more miles the ABS light starts blinking and, whilst it does, the system definitely goes into non-ABS mode which is predictable and quite manageable. *I've already presented the bike at a Honda main dealers once where they accessed the fault codes stored in the ECU. They said they, the codes, were showing a 'spike' (?) and they had cleared the codes but pointed to the fact I had a GoPro camera and a GPS device both hard-wired into the bikes electrical system. They seemed to think this may have some bearing on the problem. I find this hard to believe since the camera is fully charged but rarely used and everybody else with a GPS never seems to encounter any issues and, if anything, the Honda heated grips, when in use, must draw more current than everything else put together. Anyway, I rode home but after 20 miles or so the ABS warning light was blinking again. This weekend I intend to examine 3 possible areas which could be the cause of my woes; the gap and condition of the sender units on both wheels, the condition and cleanliness of ALL the fuses and also remove the 'Middle Panel' to make sure that the large plug on the ABS unit itself does not have any 'dry' connectors. That only leaves the unit itself and other than try a substitute replacement I have no idea what to do about that. Your thoughts Gentlemen, please.
  4. My '02 nearly left me stranded yesterday coming back from work. I was riding in the city at moderate speed when engine cut off completely without warning. I pulled over by the curb, put her back in neutral and tried to restart: the starter would crank but the engine wouldn't start at first. That's when I noticed the ABS light was flashing. I was about to call a tow truck when I tried to start again and this time it did. I rode for about 5 minutes before it cut off again. I noticed the fuel injection warning light coming on, but it went away after riding for a bit. So I managed to start again and then rode for about 10-15 minutes before it happened one last time (about 5 blocks from home), then I made it home. I'm obviously going to take it to a mechanic early next week, but just wondering if any others have had a similar problem, and what was the issue. Except for the ABS light flashing, all other conditions seemed normal: Engine temperature, oil / coolant levels, etc. The bike is an '02 with just a bit over 67,000 km on the clock. According to the maintenance log I keep (and the service manual) my spark plugs should still be good for another 15,000 km (I replaced them all 20,000 km ago). The only maintenance I've skipped is the second valve clearance check (7,000 km overdue) but only because it's a very expensive job to get done. For everything else I've followed the service manual like gospel. If you have any idea what this could be, let me know! EDIT: Forgot to mention that this happened over a 20-ish km commute.
  5. Good day guys. VFR newbie here. Just got my 2010 VFR1200F (manual) two days ago, and noticed that ABS flashes for 10 seconds after starting the engine, i.e. I turn the ignition - ABS light comes on I push the start button, engine starts, and half a second after ABS starts flashing for 10 seconds After ten seconds the ABS lights normally After I start moving, past 10km/h or so, it disappears and continues to behave by the book. I've documented it in the below video. Any ideas? The bike has Two Brothers exhaust, K&N filter, and Power Commander, all tuned on dyno by the previous owners. Thank you!
  6. Hey there. Currently reassembling my bike again after replacing the shock with a DMr-massaged unit last year, which worked great until I mis-routed the remote preload adjuster hose. It wore through and leaked its oil out the back of the bike, which turned me into a low-rider but could have been worse. Trying not to make the same mistake twice. So, thanks in advance for posting, linking, or PMing any pics of how the OEM preload adjuster hose is routed. I did look at the manual, and there's a mostly unhelpful illustration. I am at the point of re-installing the rear fender and want to confirm what the hose is under/above/around. Cheers. -c92
  7. Hi there, I've got a 2002 VFR800 VTEC. The ABS light recently started flashing while riding (while on a motorway section). I looked into the fault and its error code number 3 meaning rear wheel speed sensor or pulser ring. I've inspected the area visually and all looks fine. I've cleared the code and its returned. Any ideas on the next steps or any experiences of a similar fault? Thanks in advance, Tom
  8. I have been searching everywhere and I must be entering the wrong terms, so I thought I would ask. The previous owner relocated the rear shock adjustment knob inside the bike under the seat vs. on the right passenger pegs. This makes it look nice, but it eats up space. I am looking to add a fuse block, and now this knob is taking up real estate so I want to put it back outside. Only issue is that I do not have the bracket for it, and I cannot find what it's called. All I have now is the shock knob (attached by the hose to the shock) and the right passenger footpeg. I will need the following: The bracket, bolts, and nuts These circled collar extensions If there's a specific name for it that'd be great, then I can search the forum or eBay for anyone that is selling them
  9. In the 'I can't leave well enough alone' department, I'm pulling the trigger on a set of the newer ABS injected Chinese fairings. I've decided on using the seller named Auctmarts, which from what I can tell, is the lesser of all of evils when you read anything about these aftermarket kits. Seems all of the horrible experiences with Chinese fairings, are from years ago before the industry started using more modern methods of plastic molding. So, with the relatively low entrance fee, I'm gonna give it a shot. My 2002 only has ~9000 miles on it, but I'm the third owner and somewhere along it's history, things have toppled into it. So, I can either roll my eyes at it, when the nicks and scratches catch my eye every time I ride it, or do something about it. I'm going with a total color change, from red, to a white/black theme incorporating a little bit of the red back into it. Wifey doesn't know it yet, but my inspiration is the colors of the flag of her home country. I figure when she yells at me for spending more money on this thing, I throw that little tidbit at her, and BOOM. That'll shut her up... :) Here's a before picture, which I've posted recently. Will keep updating throughout the process. I'm working with the seller now, to finalize paint details before I send money. Timeline and review to follow... And because I know someone is gonna ask, here's a pic of wifey with the Viffer Extra credit goes to anyone that can tell me her home country. :)
  10. I am on a road trip and it seems my right front caliper is pulsing (antilock). It is leaving very evenly spaced hash marks on my rotor. What might cause this and how can I disable anti-lock just to get through my trip without murdering that rotor?
  11. Team VFR; I was just informed by my local dealership that my ABS Modulator on my 2010 DCT with 1600 miles has gone out. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I purchased the bike new in June so the warranty is still valid. I look forward to your assistance. Take care. Ride safe. Matt.
  12. Hi Could you describe for me how the ABS should work on my 06.VFR800A? How can it be tested if regarding front and rear tires this function is ok together with dual CBS? What should I hear or feel some feedback from the rear pedal or the front lever arm this time??? I know the abs system comes to action from 10km/h an higher. I tried my bike some times if it is ok, but I can not get any sign. When I push only the rear pedal really hard, the bike is stable and slow down well w/o any tire lock, but w/o any feedback from the pedal. I visited a Honda dealer and the tried the bike riding slow and at 40km/h on a rather dirty road but could not detect how it is working..if working. They did not seem to be expert.
  13. I was surprised last weekend when I headed up to the GA mountains for a ride, and found that the first time I applied the front brakes I could feel what I will describe as pulsing through the brake lever. I continued to work the front lever until the pulsing stopped; all seemed well then the ABS light came on and flashed constantly the rest of the ride. I checked this site on my first stop to see if there was anything I could learn to minimize my concern but did not see anything that put my mind at ease. I have subsequently cleaned the front and rear brake calipers and replaced the brake fluid with Motul 5.1; used this in my other VFR 1200 and loved it. After the work I cleaned it up and rode carefully around the neighborhood; everything started out great then the pulsing started again in the front lever. I have not ridden it long enough to see if the ABS light comes back on and frankly, am not sure I want to try. One noticeable difference is that I had to adjust my front lever out; it is an ASV lever; from were it was with the stock fluid so that I did not pull the lever too far toward the grip. In as much, I am reaching out to the brain trust here to see what recommendations 'you' can make? My thought is to combine what I learn here in conjunction with what I learn from calling several Honda dealerships. The bike is under warranty just in case there is a bigger issue. Thank you very much for your assistance. Matt.
  14. Hello again - Here are pics of the 6-gen ABS shock I am considering buying to replace my non-ABS shock (I really want the remote preload adjust for 2-up). The adjustor hose has been disconnected at the banjo bolt for removal... can anyone spell out the process for filling/bleeding this part of the system? I want to make sure it is something I can do before I go and buy it. Looks like all the hardware is present and the shock is in good shape, was used for roughly 10,000 km. (6k mi) Thanks! Pics:
  15. I'm trying to upgrade the stock brake system on my 1200, but I'm not sure if it would interfare with the ABS system. I'm looking at a few things for it so far: Brembo master cylinder [ http://www.oppracing...ster-cylinders/ ] that website is not that good since it dosnt list a master cylinder for the 1200 or a way to figure out what size could you use, this one does through explain "how to" [ http://www.cyclebrakes.com/html/brembo_cylinders.html ] that one is one of the parts Im not so sure would fit right due to the ABS, any one swapped theirs? Thinking about getting one for the rear later on as well. Stainless steel brake lines front and back [ http://www.galferusa...ng-motorcycles/ ] I'll need the stock dimensions to get those made, if theyre not in the manual than it will be a little bit of searching around and measuring with a string to do... Brake pads EBC Sintered Double-H Rated Pads front and back [ http://www.perfectbr...ts.asp?cat=4083 ] Since calipers from Brembo are like 2000$ for just the front set and rotors are around 600$ a pop I decided to stick to stock with those... Do any of you know where is the ABS chip connected, and would swapping the master cyliner impact it in any way?
