Just before I was finally able to pull the trigger on some Lextek headers, I read from someone saying it won’t fit the Deluxe model because the center stand is in the way. After looking at Delkevic they also list their headers for the VFR800 F model, not the deluxe. Has anyone tried installing the Delkevic on the deluxe to confirm it wont work, or any other headers they will fit? Thanks guys

Got hit from behind & insurance is making you feel some kind of way? Buddy slam dunked your ride out of the parking lot and just perfectly bent your frame? Ship me your entire 8th Gen front end! 😆 I'm looking to convert my beloved 5th gen to a 6th gen triple clamp & 8th gen forks, brakes, wheel & splashguard. You too can partake in my never-ending desire to modify this bike from *barely* this century! Prefer pickup in Houston, TX. Will drive in a ~300 mile radius.

hey all, i'm about the carry out a chain and sprocket replacement on my bike, the question i have is, looking at the rear sprocket assembly it doesn't look like the hub nut needs to come off to do the replacement, i'm probably wrong, which is why i also bought a 46mm socket just incase, TL;DR can i get the rear sprocket off without dismantling part of the rear hub assembly? thanks in advance and sorry if this has been asked before, i couldn't find anything when i searched for it.

Hello All, I've stumbled over a very low mileage 8th gen parts bike right when I’m rebuilding my 5th gen. Got me thinking what new stuff I can transfer off the later bike to my poor old 5th gen. I know someone has transplanted 6th gen throttlebodies onto a 5th gen (although the thread doesn’t specify any benefits in doing so). So is the 8th gen compatible? Are there any different sensors or mounting issues? The injectors alone would be a great upgrade (12 holes vs single hole on 5th gen = mpg gains and better atomisation). Also, most 5th gen parts are now well used whereas 6th and 8th gen parts are fresher. Rubber parts are the worst-hit. Prices tend to be the same. Are the rubber intake boots interchangeable between generations? I’m even tempted to have the 8th gen airbox to play with. Don’t want to spend money and find nothing fits. Thanks in advance for for your help. Stray

Hello VFRD! I am new to riding and got a VFR800 8th generation from 2014 as second motorcycle. I bought it used with 5000 km 2 months ago and I have ridden it 6000 km with it in this time frame. The maintenance is soon due, at 12000 km. I was planning on cleaning it and doing some minor maintenance, with the agreement of my local official Honda dealer / garage. However, on Saturday morning as I was firing it up to buy some of the tools I would need for the maintenance, I forgot to remove the disk lock on the front wheel, which broke a small part of the front fender. I consider this a non event but who knows. After assessing the damage (none that matters, or should matter), I tried to drive away and a loud rattling noise made me reconsider it. While I do not care so much about cosmetics, I do not want to risk any damage on the engine. The bike starts without an issue and keeps a constant normal idle rpm. The noise starts as soon as I open the throttle, with or without a gear engaged, with or without the clutch being engaged. I have removed the fairing to try to hear more precisely where the noise comes from and hoping I would see something loose. Now that the fairings are removed, I think the noise comes from the right side of the bike, around the front right cylinder. Looking on Internet, I understand this might be the front Cam Chain Tensioner being worn. This seems very early at 11000 km. Could anyone point me towards a potential culprit and how to verify the hypothesis? Should I just go to the dealer and not touch anything? I might be wrong so if you got suggestions do not take all of my rookie analysis as solid. I will try to post a video with the issue at hand during the day.

Hello, im looking for a bit of advice regarding an issue that has come up on my 2014 VFR, a few days ago I was stopped at an intersection and I noticed the TC and engine lights had come on, power was a bit down on take off and it sputtered a bit, later that day after work, no lights, next morning as I was taking it in to get checked, same issue, but it actually stalled a few times on take off, the dealer checked it out and was unable to fail for three days before they managed to get a fault code for the front wheel speed sensor. TL;DR the symptoms I experienced don't seem to me to be a result from a wheel speed sensor, but more like a TPS, I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue and may have a solution, also the dealer has quoted me two hours to change the sensor, seems excessive, anyone sure if that is actually how long it takes? Sorry for the long post but I felt context was needed, thanks in advance for the advice.

I love my 8th gen but I want to personalize it. I want to make it my own. And I want to change its performance and cosmetics. I’ve heard of swapping the forks to lower the front, swapping the tail of a cbr onto it, and knowing the right mechanic that can whip up a turbo for it. I’m also wondering if anyone’s ever swapped fairings from a different bike. Overall I still want it to be my interceptor at heart. I’ll also do the basics like power commander, flapper/pair mod and quick shift. I love the handling, the performance and the comfort. I’ve read a lot about weight reduction but have determined instead of shaving off 10 lbs I may as well try and increase the power of the bike and lose 50 lbs of my body fat. Anyone drop any suggestions for me on what’s possible?

I thought I'd share my modifications progress so far. It's been a busy few days as all my new parts arrived this week, and my ride has been feeling the love. My mods so far: Two Brothers S1R Slip-on. Ventura Pack-rack & Euro-Rally expandable tail-bag. Powerbronze dark-tint airflow windscreen. LED Indicators front and rear (with 50W 6ohm load resistors) Designing a tail-tidy/fender eliminator with integrated rear reflector so as to be street-legal. Happy BikeDay, just picked up the new ride. Traded in my black Gen-6 for a black Gen-8. TBR S1R pipe, and Ventura rack fitted. Load resistor, front LED indicator, and rear LED indicator - all sourced from eBay. Stock (left) vs. LED (right). The orange reflection from the globe has been removed. I mounted the load resistors under the grab-handle frame using pineapple tape, in the locations circled. I couldn't find room inside the mirror housings for the load resistors - especially not if they get hot which is very possible on a 40° Celsius day stopped in traffic. Instead I ran wiring down the mirror stalk and mounted the resistors on the dash/windscreen frame using more pineapple tape.

You want to upgrade your 6th gen with some 8th gen parts? Well here's your chance - totaled 8th gen going up for auction - https://www.copart.com/lot/39805397 It's seriously scraped but the damage does not appear too bad. If you win the auction I'll purchase the subframe

Stumbled across some nice high res pictures of the 8th gen's header. Very interesting design. It is a stark contrast to the 5th and 6th gens, as the front 2 pipes merge and the rear 2 pipes merge, before hitting the cat. Also worth mentioning is the single o2 sensor right before the cat, as opposed to the 5th/6th gens two o2 sensors. You can zoom way in on them here on their ebay listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2014-Honda-VFR800F-Interceptor-Exhaust-Header-Pipe-Manifold-18150-MJM-D00-/232031761742?hash=item36062bb54e:g:oqAAAOSwdzVXm5tR&vxp=mtr

A couple of people have expressed some frustration over the 8th Gen oil change procedure, so I thought I would quickly make a rundown with pictures to help anyone who has questions in future. It took me roughly 30 minutes end-to-end the second time I did this. First, and foremost, you need the tools... Allen key (included in tool-kit) "Phillips" (actually JIS) screwdriver (included in tool-kit) 10mm socket 17mm socket Torque wrench Oil filter wrench (do *not* skip this - Honda P/N 07HAA-PJ70101 or 07AMA-MFJA100) ...as well as the consumables. 4qt Honda GN4 10w30 (3.3qt used) 1 Crush Washer (Honda P/N 94109-12000) 1 Oil Filter (Honda P/N 15410-MFJ-D01) Notes "screw-type" pins are removed by unscrewing them until the middle plastic part separates from the body of the pin visibly. Pull outward to remove. Installation is reverse of removal; press middle part in to secure. "pin-type" pins are removed by pressing the middle of the pin in, pull outward to remove. For installation, pull the middle plastic pin piece so it is poking out of the pin. Push the pin body into the hole and press the middle of the pin in to secure. All this makes sense the second you touch them. A US "Standard" model was used to document this procedure. The portion about the lower radiator bolt only seems to apply to AC and II AC models (America/Canada.) I am unsure if you need to do that portion on the ROTW models. It will be very apparent if so, when you go to remove the filter. 1. Remove left-lower-side fairing. 3 allen screws - front one is the 'smaller' one 2 "screw-type" plastic pins 1 "pin-type" plastic pin Pull reward to unhook from side fairing 2. Remove right-lower-side fairing. 2 allen screws - front one is the 'smaller' one 1 "screw-type" plastic pins 1 "pin-type" plastic pin Pull reward to unhook from side fairing 3. Remove radiator grill cover. 2 "pin-type" plastic pins 2 allen screws Pull top of grill forward to unseat from rubber retainers Pull upward and remove, may have to slightly manipulate left and ride side fairings 4. Remove 17mm oil drain bolt; drain oil. Trash the old crush washer. 5. Remove 10mm bolt securing lower part of the lower radiator (accessible via left-hand side.) 6. Loosen oil filter (using the oil filter wrench; the filter will be quite tight on your first oil change!) 7. Pull lower portion of lower radiator forward, and remove the oil filter through the left-hand side of the headers as shown. 8. Pour some oil in your new filter, and use your finger to lubricate the o-ring on the filter with engine oil. 9. Install oil filter reverse of the removal. Tighten oil filter to 19ft-lb. 10. Reinstall oil fill bolt with new crush washer. Tighten to 22ft-lb. 11. Fill the bike with 3.2qt of oil. Use the marks on the side of the bottle to roughly gauge the .2qt from the fourth bottle. 12. Start the bike for 3-5 minutes. Let stand for 2 minutes. 13. Have someone stand the bike upright, and ensure oil is between the lines in the sight glass. Add an additional .1qt if needed to bring near top fill line. 14. Ensure there are no leaks. 15. Install the lower radiator's lower 10mm bolt to secure 16. Install the radiator grill reverse of removal. Plastic pins in the bottom, allen bolts on top. 17. Reinstall right-lower-side fairing reverse of removal. Ensure the rear portion of the fairing hooks onto the bike. 18. Reinstall the left-lower-side fairing reverse of removal. Let me know if something was not clear or if anyone has any questions. Quick poll-slash-sanity-check. Finally got my bike back from the shop after getting thrown over by an idiot backing up her SUV out of a parallel parking space. $3K worth of damage (P&L). Argh. Anyway, I probably never paid such close attention but I'm noticing if I start the bike cold on a humid 80F day or evening, my idle speed is pretty close to normal idle, or maybe even a tick lower than normal idle speed or RPM. Normal? Abnormal? Thanks...

Ok, I'm getting ready to install a Crazy Iron's crash cage on my 2014 after I modify it into a full surround cage. I was wondering if anyone else has run a set of cages on an 8th gen & what the group's thoughts were regarding them. I have cages on my other bikes, but it's a very common accessory for super sports. I haven't seen them on any other sport touring bikes like ours.

Has anyone replaced, or looked at replacing their stock indicator (turn-signal) bulbs with LED equiivalents? It bewilders me that Honda designed the 2014 model with LEDs for the head-lights, brake-lights, and tail-lights, but settled for conventional filament bulbs for the turn signals. Keen to hear from the assembled sagely wisdoms... ;-)

Review of Honda's 8th Gen (2014) VFR-800 from the point of view of someone who has owned and ridden '96/'97 VFRs just about since they came out. http://bytebrothers.org/vfr800.htm I don't have any pictures up yet but the text is pretty much all of what it will be. Commentary welcome. Enjoy! PS: Does anyone know if Honda has finally gone to MOSFET R/R units in the new VFR?

I just recently got a set of the factory panniers for my VFR... is it just me or is it a bit of a pain to get these things on/off without whacking the rear turn signal lenses? If I'm not careful doing this, I could see the lenses getting scratched up over time. Note: This happens with the rubber stopper things that come with the panniers installed on the bike. Otherwise, they're a great looking set of (expensive) luggage.

Has anyone compared the trip computer's gas mileage readings to what they've calculated via the odometer and/or GPS versus amount of gas filled? Per tank? How about over time?

Guys and gals, Storing an 8th gen in northern Montana for the winter, any advice with regards to the possible low temperatures? Have been running non-ethanol fuel and bought some stabiliser. Storing in a garage without heat. Any issues with running the factory anti-freeze coolant? thanks

I just peeked into the surprisingly light, compact plastic envelope that encloses the 2014 VFR-800FD's tool kit and found the most anemic set of tools ever. One screwdriver (with reversible straight blade and JIS shaft), the two pieces that make up the chain tension adjuster, a 14/17mm closed end offset wrench, a hex key, a fuse puller and a stamped steel thing that looks like a cheap old spoke wrench, probably for adjusting the fork preload. Oh, and just one helmet strap wire. There is a small pocket that looks like it should have held a plug gap gauge but it's empty. I'm thinking I should be augmenting this. For those of you who have been under the covers on this bike already, what do you think are the very essentials?

An introduction to myself and my journey onto a VFR is in order ;) My name is Tom, my friends call me Grumps. I started riding about 18 months ago on a Honda CB400. Great little bike and I've put 20,000km onto it in that time. A few weeks after getting my restricted license I went on a group ride. A friend of a friend came along who was riding 5th gen VFR800. I was captivated by that bike and the passion with which the owner spoke about it. Not long after this I saw the 8th gen VFR and was instantly in love. I had to have one. Fast forward 12 months and I've received my unrestricted license. I have been lusting after the 8th gen for the best part of a year. I was desperate to get on to one. The missus on the other hand, had other ideas. She wanted me to lose some weight. So, we struck a deal... I'd reduce my weight to 85kg and then I could look at upgrading. I made this chart and stuck it on the fridge to keep me accountable. Somewhere along the way, 92kg became the 'you can test ride them' point. And it was agreed that if the right bike for the right price came along, perhaps I could purchase it - provided I'd dropped below 92kg. I started at 107kg in April and have worked hard since then. I hit 92kg about 3 weeks ago, although I had already test ridden a couple of VFRs at that point. A fortnight ago I saw a used 2015 8th gen pop up for sale which appeared to be the right bike at the right price. I couldn't move on it quickly as I was in Indonesia - but planned to look when I returned to Australia. Unfortunately, I missed out on that bike but the dealer made me an impossible to refuse offer on a brand new 8th gen. So last Saturday (September 20), I picked up my brand new bike. And I've loved every second of it since! I'm at 91kg now but the deal remains - I still have to get to 85kg. So while I'm happy, the hard work continues!

I previously owned a 2007 VFR and I am thinking about possibly picking up a new leftover 2014 VFR800. Today I visited my (somewhat) local Honda dealer so that I could see an 8th-gen in person. The dealer had the bikes packed in like sardines, so it made it difficult to look at and sit on bikes. Also, I am only interested in the red model and they only had white. This is my brief opinion of the 8th-gen VFR given the above conditions. -Fit and finish on the bike seem very good -Sitting on the bike, the seat felt kind of thin (I don't remember if the 6th-gen felt that way) -The reach to the handle bars does feel farther than I remember (I would probably opt for risers) -I left feeling neutral about the bike. I didn't feel like "wow this is awesome". It was a nice bike though. -Would I buy one? If I could find a good deal, maybe. I still browse the used 6th-gen classifieds. Does anyone live near the bay area in California that owns an 8th-gen that I could take a look at?
