  1. Yup, just gotta ride, and slowly start working your confidence level back up. I've lowsided twice, and both times it took me a while to regain my mojo. You know what I've found really helps, though? A trackday. Getting out there and railing on your bike does wonders to remind you of what it--and you--are capable of. I've noticed the same thing during springtime... after several months of skating around on cold tires, rarely doing any riding other then freeway commuting, it takes me a while to get the feel for sport-riding back... usually until I do my first trackday of the season, then I'm right back into it. But, yeah, get some sticky tires on there first!
  2. I just redid the boingers on my '04. The springs and valves on the front went on about two weeks ago; they felt great and really improved the feel of the front, but it made the shortcomings of the rear shock very obvious. It seemed like ever time I hit a bump I could feel the back wallowing around as it tried to damp out the input. My Wilbers finally showed up on Friday, and I went to work changing it out. It matches the front alot better, but damn, that thing is stiff! I hope that the stiffer ride doesn't take much getting used to; the wife and I are leaving on an 11-day trip on Thursday and a stiff an uncomfortable ride is not something I'm looking forward too. Guess we'll see. I am looking forward to my first trackday of the season to see how this thing really works, though!
  3. It was either from a member here or off of eBay. I think I paid mid-200s for them. I can't exactly recall...
  4. Doubt it. I have a gutted exhaust with catless headers (making it even louder) and it still barely matches up to some of the stock supersports my buddies have. I really don't think you're going to have to worry about setting off alarms (unless they're waaaay sensitive). Very cool info regarding the dB level, though. Resourceful!
  5. Motherf******************. I was able to scrape the old gasket off with a razor. Assembled the shift kit, it actuates fine, and I reassembled everything. Cleaning up and I find two small metal pieces. Oh, shit. They're the dowel pins that are supposed to install with the shifter cover. Arggggggg.... are these things important enough that I really have to disassemble the whole thing again to put them in? I'm not cut out for this mechanic stuff.... ><
  6. OK, I've got my shift cover off and am about to start putting the star kit in, but first... The green gasket that's on the shift cover comes off and is replaced by the provided gasket, correct? How do you get it off? It's glued on pretty well around the fastener holes... any tips/tricks? Thanks,

  10. Bastard! I'm the one who bid $375 <_< So what was your max bid? Congrats, by the way  By the way... would you be interested in selling one of your 5-spokes to me? I need another wheel so I can have one for commuting and one for sport riding, and I was hoping to grab an 8-spoke. I'm at the point where I just need something, though, and you're not too far from me. Let me know if you're willing. Kegan

  12. I've never had any reason to complain about my stock horn before... sure, it sounds a bit wimpy, but a short tap was always enough to alert anyone who was about to switch into my lane that "hey, I'm here!" Until yesterday, that is. I'm in the right lane, doing a few MPH faster then a lexus-luxo-barge in the left. I'm nearly even with the front door when it starts drifting into my lane. I lean on the horn, and there is absolutely no response from this oblivious lady talking on ther cell phone. You remember those old Infiniti commercials where the guy opens and shuts the car door, and the music from the sound system cuts in and out, ie, "our cars have such great sound insulation!" Yeah, screw you and your sound insulation. Throttle to the stops, vroom vroom, out of danger... I just put in my order for a Nautilus. Lets see you ignore me now, lady. You're gonna overcorrect so fast you're gonna go flying across both oncoming lanes and into the train tracks. However, there is one thing I'm sort of worried about... the horn button on my '04 is very easy to press. I've hit it a few times accidently while trying to get my blinker or something, and it really doesn't take much pressure to depress it. Not a big deal with the stock horn, just maybe a bit embarrassing if I do it in a parking lot or something. Accidently hitting the Stebel would probably be really embarrassing. Has anyone else has this problem, and is it possible to do anything about it... increase the necessary force to trigger the horn, or something? Thanks, Kegan
