  1. On the 4th gen (never owned a 3rd gen) this switch is located under the tank, so unlike the VF500F's (which is on the LHS of the tank and has ON//OFF/RES), you only switch the 4th Gen's to OFF if you want to remove the tank. NRP in the UK sells https://nrp-carbs.co.uk/shop/index.php?route=product/search&search=vfr750 The inlinle "strainer" you could replace with an external filter, or leave it out altogether.
  2. My 4th Gen's collector box had a weld "split" when I got her a few years ago. Applied some Gun Gum exhaust paste and it held well, till recently. So I McGyvered something else... 2-component metal paste once the rains stop, I will rattle can the lot black again.
  3. Am at a used mc/spares fair in Italy this weekend. 99.8% Italian mc but I spotted this dog...
  4. Memore for speed... No matter what I tried, on a flat road, no taliwind, she would simply refuse to go over 200KMH (on GPS). 196 and that was it VFR750 246 RC51 285 1953 Gilera 91
  5. Welcome to VFRD from across the pond Bought my 1986 back in 2015, sold her this year with 100k+ km on it. 60k+ of which by me Used as commuter and long trips alike. I keep a blog here of my VF500 (and other bikes), so have a loooong scroll... Before spending any more sheckels, lift the cam covers and inspect the cam lobes and followers. You had a VF500 before, so you know Honda upgraded the 86 (bigger oil pump, line bored cam journals) after their initial VF750 etc failures. But, if your has survived running so far, good chance itsa good one. No fan of the paint scheme on yours, but you it looking at the fireplace while poking the fire eh?
  6. Winterization time has come for the MV.... Drained the carbs, that's all No squatters allowed... 🙂
  7. Front cilinder off. Clearly, this has been at a prison rodeo... But..... falling forward here 🙂 picking up a good donor for heads and pistons coming week.
  8. I once bought a LHS Remus for redslut... Turned out it was one for a 3rd gen, and that meant chopping one of the centre stand mounting points. The muffler was stamped with "not for public roads" or so. IT WAS 'FFING LOUD!!
  9. @TheGreaseMonkey The rains finally subsided... Centimetres, not inches
  10. Dark here now (my bikes live outside), will crawl under the bike in the morning
  11. Just what Terry said.... The mirror stems will be the "condom" version; the 00+ stalks look nicer'. Fit a small voltmeter, so you can see if the R/R starts acting up. And oh yes..... the nick name for the 5th gen is "Dumbo Ears" due to the front indicator "design". 😇 And lastly...... Red "NACA's" are the best.....
  12. RC51......... Did I hear anyone say VTR1000-SP2?
  13. Thanks. I have a lead on spare cilinders.. Failing that, in 2,5 weeks I'll be in Milan, Italy on a large mc fair. I know there'll be an Italian gentleman with parts..... In the mean time, my commuter is a Honda again... And after work I "put put" around on a wee 150cc 4-stroke. 1953 registration '40's engine design '30's suspension design....
  14. To borrow a phrase... "It is not the size of your tachometer that matters" Did you enjoy the rides honey?
  15. Welcome to VFRD from across the North Sea. Hook up a small/simple voltmeter and tuck it somewhere in sight. The actual reading is not relevant, it is to give you a heads up, if while riding, something is amiss. Like <11 or >15VDC. Once or twice a year if you ride a lot, inspect the coonectors in the string generator, regulalatr, strating solenoid. If you had a blue/2nd gen Tenere you probably know what engine overheating is. no such worries with a VFR 🙂
  16. Keny changes bikes more often than I my underpants...
  17. We're getting there.... VID-20230904-WA0003.mp4 Opening the fuel tap is not to be forgotten... 😁 Take two! VID-20230904-WA0004.mp4
