Still have one more day to post on T.D.R. II - been waiting for the new site to get sorted before doing that (and thanks for the hard work that no doubt went into fixing it).
I can't direct post at all on my thread, I'm only allowed to edit my old posts. Since it's not on the hompage anymore, maybe move back to Ride Reports? Or am I missing something?

Brian, those are some of my favourite roads and, while I can't join the fun on your outing, I expect to ride them on my way to the WSB at Laguna Seca.
Interesting that you are riding them in that order. I prefer riding Monitor Pass eastbound and Sonora Pass westbound. Do you have a preference, or just switch directions depending on mood?
Hey Lorne, see ya at WSBK then! I'll be there both days, probably with some of the usual VFRD suspects.
I do prefer Sonora going westbound, but I also prefer Monitor going westbound so it's a no-win. Usually after Monitor going westbound I head to US50 and hookup with Ice House Rd, which leads to my favorite road of all (Wentworth Springs).

I'd be down for a Saturday day ride.

Unless we get hit with a random blizzard, it looks like 108, 88, 4, 89 and 50 will all be open on June's first weekend. Obviously I want to get up there, shred some tarmac and enjoy some vistas.Anyone want in? I may do this as an overnighter, but will depend on the level of interest. Status of my favorites (Wentworth, Mosquito) will also be a big factor. Saturday or Sunday both work for me.As a day ride, probably something like this: https://goo.gl/maps/aVB4BrBSqGE2FINAL INFO FROM BELOW:
Meeting point is Starbucks in Manteca: 1451 Hulsey Way. KSU at 9am!
Final route is: https://goo.gl/maps/XW4eaucztWq
Plan is, as always, to have lunch at Mountain View BBQ in Coleville. Based on the route it might be a late lunch - bring some snacks.

These aren't the best roads for rain...probably best to wait a week if that happens...fingers crossed for now.
Following week is Memorial Day. Sad face.
Definitely want to do this ride - but all the mountain passes should be open by the first weekend of June...jussssayinnnn
-
Weather forecast for this weekend not looking great. Worth keeping an eye on.
-
I should be good to go on this one. If not an overnighter maybe do some Santa Cruz Mts shenanigans?
-
Fish and chips in Lucia are amazing. McWay Falls is a must.
Nacimiento Fergusson road is brilliant, but a little goaty. 17 mile drive doesn't allow motorbikes.
Make sure you stop a lot - take photos, look around. It's not a huge area, and rewards exploring. Have fun.

More info on the rider of the Aprilia. Such a fascinating/weird/sad story.

I am sad that I live so far away from you guys. Always have a great ride when riding with you guys. So hopefully we can do another Sierra ride this year...
We were just talking about that today. Will start looking at dates soon - stay tuned.

Took a bet of legwork on Google but there you are.
Home after an epic sunset in Bolinas. Great ride as usual, good to see everyone again. Will post pics tomorrow hopefully.
-
I think I have everyone's phone number so I'll start a group text tomorrow. Just text me Saturday morning if you decide to bail.
-
Okay kiddies, forecast is showing anywhere between 20% and 50% chance of rain.
Consensus opinion needed - rain-or-shine or reschedule?
I'm fine either way I think, I usually like to risk it haha

Cool, just text me if you can't make it. Would love to see the Multi (and you haha)

Day 9
I woke up in a tent. This sort of coincidence seems to be common when camping.
Dixon Lake was a real surprise. If your last name was Dixon and you had two daughters, they could be called the Dixon girls. Uhhh…
Another random marmot photo because it’s my ride report!
Oh god, just imagine if the Dixons had a donkey! It would be the…not family friendly.
This is Lake Elsinore, and whaddyaknow, it has water in it. Leave your shower on all day because the drought is media propaganda!
Dear idiot drivers: please stop turning left in front of motorbikes. Thanks, -Brian.
Then to Coco Ichibanya for lunch. There will be a meeting with a toilet in your near future – enjoy.
Next stop on my usual SoCal tour: Malibu. I didn’t used to drink Malibu rum in high school – that would’ve been illegal.
I still get lost in the hills every time. Which is sort of like getting lost at Oktoberfest – not really a bad thing.
If you know who rnickeymouse is, then you’ll recognize this spot. If not, you’re watching too much YouPorn (like there’s actually such a thing).
Don’t worry, I only read YouPorn for the articles too. Majority rules!
Then off through Ojai to Los Padres, to collaborate with Captain Morgan to identify the meaning of life. Little progress was made.

One more day left.

Is that Road House brisket I smell? In
By the way, the last time I went through Gualala, Bones was closed for the season. I was accordingly displeased.
After a quick Google search today, it's not only closed for the season, it's closed. What. The. ____. :sad2:
I am planning to spend the night in Healdsburg Friday so will start out with you. I will head to Mendocino at the end of 128.
Sweet!

Hey weirdos, due to Jeff's unfortunate meeting of Y2k and pavement, his April roll call ride never manifested.
A few of us talked about doing a May 7th ride as the first one of the year - anyone still interested?
Planned route:
https://goo.gl/maps/DSA55Bo8cdp
Meeting Point: Chevron, 999 E Grant Ave, Winters, CA 95694. Don't care when you arrive but KSU at 9am.
Old thread for the zero people who are interested in it: http://www.vfrdiscussion.com/forum/index.php/topic/82988-bay-area-roll-call-ride-2016/page-4

Gonna be a real issue for the Italian homers who also love Rossi...

Surfer Rosa! (Please someone chime in if you get the reference)
Are you referring to the fact that there is a song called Cactus on the Pixies album Surfer Rosa? What do i win?
Bingo! Well done.
You win the hearts and minds of the people. It's war out here.
Btw everyone hang on for the last few posts - back on the road for work for the next 7 days.
-
Specs say 1200 is .5" taller than 800 vtec. The weight feels much lower on the 1200 so I'd guess you'd be fine.

Day 8
I arose way earlier than you, just to catch a non-sunrise. The only thing the early bird catches is less sleep than the lazy-ass worm.
Surfer Rosa! (Please someone chime in if you get the reference)
Hey look, the pineapple equivalent of baby carrots!
Ah yes, we’re here for the sunrise. The sun rose...very exciting stuff. So unpredictable!
More desert flowers. Probably have less calories than dessert flowers. They’re their there you’re your etc.
The sunrise was so good I left and went to McDonald’s. Which is sort of like leaving Buckingham Palace to go to the laundromat. Only greasier.
Then to a national park full of…saguaros. My length of stay was accordingly short.
After getting stuck turning the bike around, I said “____ this place.” Rhymes with stu…you get the idea.
After saying “goodbye this place” and tidying my ascot, I bolted to Kitt Peak. *checks pocket watch* I said “good day!”
Then I nerded out at the observatory for a couple hours. Mostly I learned that we spend a lot of money on scientific stuff that I’m not smart enough to understand.
Kitt’s a tough one – not really a destination road, but one you should ride at some point. Especially if you like telescopes or astronomical government spending. *pun alert*
Then to Organ Pipe Catcus…I think I made one of those in a Freshman-year pottery class. Minus the Organ and Cactus part.
As the TDR III plan is Baja, I decided to do some Mexicanvestigation. I’m definitely not muling any drogas in my rectum, so don’t bother asking.
I didn’t stop once in Mexico. But when I got back to Cali, I got lost above SD and rode on a snow-covered road for the first time. Speaking of drogas.
Pulled in there to put on rain gear, then pulled right out. And they say that’s not an effective birth control method! MAP:
We’re hitting the home stretch, but there’s still a bit more to come.

That's actually a pretty solid suggestion. I've never ridden it either - though I've driven out to Cherry Lake before. I'd be down for that.
