I LOVE THIS SITE and I am so very pleased to read that it's going to be around for a while longer. I'm not currently active on VFRD and I'm bikeless for the first time in 20+ years (wife, toddler, baby, dog, house, business) but knowing that VFRD is alive and well makes my heart happy. I've met several wonderful people via this forum, benefitted greatly from the technical information/advice etc, and I hope to utilize the site more again soon (I see an awesome 5th gen for sale south of chicago....). THANK YOU SO MUCH, HISPANICSLAMMER for your continued dedication and hard work.

how do the sounds of semi-gut, full-gut, and staintunes compare?
Check you tube....The sound from stock to full gut is un friggin believable.
I was able to snag a fully gutted stock exhaust from a member here (pick it up Thursday). I love the sound (I just came off a V-Star 1100 with a full Cobra exhaust) so i doubt the full gut will be any where near as loud as I'm used to. I just want to know of any possible negatives to running a a gutted exhaust over time, as I plan on putting about 15,000 miles a year on this bike.
I have staintunes installed now.....really wondering how different the gutted stock exhaust sounds compared to them.

So for a guy like me who has no knowledge whatsoever about paint, how does one figure out how to match the 5th gen RED perfectly using hand-held aerosol spray paint??
-
Nice  I want something similar for my 3rd gen to keep the topbox from shaking at higher speeds.
What is the case mounted on now which shakes at high speeds?

Just ordered some spandex shorts from Nashbar. I never dreamed I'd stoop to this level.
-
I'm assuming that I need the tight (spandex style) shorts, not the baggy ones, correct?

I threw down the bucks for a Sargent. Now I get sore after 100 miles instead of 70. I want to try the bicycle shorts idea. I could ride all week if it werent for more sub-par butt  Also, cotton is the devil!! I learned my lesson on Seb's catskill cruise last year. 200 miles with cotton undershorts...no good
I also bought a Sargent, and I'm in the same situation. I will definitely try some new shorts. Additionally, I have another thread going about Spencer's Seat Modifications......anyone have any experience with this company?

Get some cheap (Giant brand or such) bicycle shorts. Man it makes a difference on a long day...
Even underneath jeans?
