  1. Where can those "things" be bought? Looks enticing to own one.
  2. See, it isn't necessary to knee drag there. Drama and stunt riding on The Dragon is beyond dangerous after being on it, perhaps, too much. Crossing the centerline is is stupidity there. Good line, Switchblade.
  3. Glad you like them. Stones have always gripped well for me and worn OK but, my gawd, they ride hard. That has applied to any kind of Bstone for me to the point I'm finished with them. I'm tired of being beaten up and am only going to adjust my suspension so much because of a hard riding tire. NC is a great place to tire test and have fun.

Awesome looking VFR! The fast color.....

    At Independence Pass, CO

Very nice pic on a nice twisty but busy road. I rode to that sign and back from Aspen on my bicycle when I was 48 y.o. Air is not plentiful up there at all!! That was a few years ago.......
  6. Rode with the brand new Angel GT's yesterday and they do ride softer than any Bstone I've had on. They don't pick up every tiny micro-bump but do have good feedback. Other than that, they handle like any other ST tire I've had. They remind me of PR2's as far as handling. Maybe very slightly better. We shall see as to longevity. New shoes always feel better anyway.
  7. I didn't know tires could look good......
  8. Thank you! I hope to be Ah-May-Zed, once I get them out of the basement and onto the VFR.....; ) I've never gotten even close to 10K from any tire. I'll feel fortunate if I get 4K from them. They really lean against a wall well in a basement........great grip.......
  9. Anyone used the new Pirelli Angel GT? What do you think of them?
  10. I don't get it. People spend a bunch of buying a bike, oil, mods, and time riding it then cheap out on filters. Anyone ever thought of just paying a few bucks for an OEM filter and forgetting about it?
  11. Just changed from dinosaur oil at around 2600 miles on the eighth gen. to Mobil 1 metric motorcycle oil and WOW does it ever run quieter and shifter butter smoother. Same has happened to every bike I went to synthetic on. I changed the dino oil out early because I got tired of thinking about it. If it isn't broken in now, it never will be. It has been put through it's paces. Yeah, oil threads! BR's favorites......
  12. The Michelin guy probably doesn't understand the desire for the front and rear to wear out at the same rate. Nothing I disliked more before I started using ST tires on the rear with Sport tire on the front than that in between set of tires where the rear was worn out but the front looked ok so I spooned another rear on and the front feel was crap. nothing feels better than a new pair of shoes on the VFR... Picky, picky, picky.....and I thought you could throw around a bike in the twisties.....; )
  13. I have a new 8th gen. being assembled from the crate tomorrow. The new 8th gen. calls for 10W-30 in it. Is there any reason 10W-40 motorcycle specific would hurt anything? 10W-30 sounds awfully thin for someone like me that rides hard in hot weather. What are you other 8th gen. owners using?
  14. One of the things I'm wondering is if Honda tightened up tolerances on the VFR engine thus the lower viscosity oil called for by Honda in the newer VFR's. I have a 2012 Honda car that uses the recommended 0W20, gets the snot run out of it, and it uses zero oil between long mileage oil changes. I'm having a hard time processing light weight oil in hot weather and high rpm's for the 8th gen. There's going to be an 8th gen. in my garage soon so I need to make a decision. Objective input appreciated and yes, I hate oil threads too.
  15. Since '07 I believe, Honda went to recommending 10W-30 viscosity from 10W-40. How many of you are using 10W-30 with no problems? Seems mighty thin for a high revving engine in the hot weather of the South. It also seems arbitrary on Honda's part to do that. For those with 8th gens. what vis. are you using?
  16. Being an ex-VFR owner (5th and 6th gen.) I think it was as shame that Honda didn't deal with and beef up the 5th gen. electricals and front forks (as they did with the 6th gen forks) then call it a great bike. It could have used 20 to 25 more HP which would have been enough for me. Even if they wouldn't have put the bike on a diet, the 5th gen. VFR's were capable of serious performance with a skilled rider while being comfortable to ride from light to dark. Did it a bunch of times multi-days in a row. What bike can do that now with a killer V4? I know a bunch of people are going to answer the 7th gen. is great but I simply can't get into that bike. A lot of people can so I respect their feelings. A lighter weight V4 with a little more power, genuine performance suspension, and good performance ergos that could be ridden all day would be the bees knees. Honda coulda done it. Oh well, mankind has a solid record of screwing up good things. BTW, this isn't a derail job since Honda has weak electricals on all the 5th and 6th gens. Speaking of screwing things up....how many miles do you have without a valve adjustment on your poor abused black bike, Mr. Bailerrock-star? Hope you and the entire gang of "old buddies" are doing well.
  17. The only reason this thread even exists is that strong agricultural state lobbyists were successful in convincing our pompous and righteous federal government protectors of all mankind and society that ethanol was a good thing to put into gasoline. Key word: lobbyists. It requires more btu's of energy to produce a gallon of ethanol than there are btu's in a gallon of ethanol. That's called bad math and stupid populist government policy. Given that gasoline does produce more power per gallon, it requires fewer gallons of fuel to travel a given distance thus lowering "pollution" by using less overall fuel than we are using now. That's called correct math. Any way you put it, gasoline is a better fuel than a mix of ethanol and gasoline. The corn farmers like it but this country's agricultural system has, in truth, been a welfare system for decades. I prefer gasoline because it works better, costs less, and pollutes less compared to ethanol production and use, after all is said and done. It's just simple math.
  18. Two types of people don't have enough to do. The one(s) that wrote the "bible" and the ones that read it.....

  22. My synthetic 10W-40 in the bike is going to the salvage yard tomorrow. The engine ran good all the way up to the time I totaled the bike. What more could one ask for..... :laughing6-hehe:
