Ooh, ooh, I know where that is. And was just there about a week ago. Fantastic road - I prefer west-to-east. What say you?
-
Looks like a great ride though I bet the snow made it feel a little colder. I'm taking the shortcut over Beartooth this summer, but won't make quite as far east as this.

That's gotta be on PCH in California. Can't pinpoint to location but my guess is somewhere between Big Sur and Cambria. In any case, love the photo and the road.
-
Too bad about the lube, but that stretch of PCH is amongst my favourite rides. Sadly, it'll be another 9 months till I get back there.
-
I love photos like this that make me want to get out and explore the countryside. Thanks for sharing.

how about a nice vanilla 6th gen?
I believe the better nickname for these VFRs is Oreo. Or even Panda.
The plain white '06 VTec definitely deserve the monicker 'vanilla'.
-
Great shot, Skids. It makes me want to head out on a trip.

The pavement was in great shape on my last run through in 2015.
Well, not a lot nearby but if you are in the neighbourhood there is plenty to see:
* Yellowstone and Grand Teton NPs are to the north* Colorado NM and Arches NP are to the south
* Capitol Reef, Bryce Canyon, and Zion NPs are a little further afield, to the southwest
* Tons of great scenic secondary highways in the area - check your maps and travel guides

Ah, yes, I too have toured through Flaming Gorge. That is the only lay-by but they couldn't have located it any better - what a fantastic view.
-
Yet another photo of your's that I really like. Well done.
I see you are lined up for a ferry excursion. Caught my eye because all my long trips start with a 90 minute ferry ride.

What's an Oreo???
I'm poking a little fun at the '09 VTec's black & white colour scheme. Some might have called it a 'panda'.
-
As a fellow Oreo-VFR owner and Michelin user I commend your choices choice of bike & tyre.
-
Definitely not any version of Pilot Power. But they sure look like Pilot Road 2 to me.
-
Great to see a different perspective. Great tire choice, btw.
-
Well done, OZ. Goes to show that good photos come from better thinking and not from better tech.
-
Love the photo, interesting scene, great colour, and a pretty tasty VFR. And it is in awesome condition for a 17 year old.
-
What a great view. I've been through Tomales a number of times but never ventured towards Dillon Beach. Might have to change that on this summer's trip.
-
Very cool photo. Sure reminds me of Nevada, though.
-
Very interesting graphics design - is it factory or custom work?
Helibars?

Hey, Brian, how come you can always come up with a photo I wish I'd taken?
The colour combo isn't one I'd have considered but it is really growing on me. Is that the satin black or gloss? Nice set of Staintune complimenting that Öhlins quite nicely. Kinda neat that it is a Japanese bike with Aussie and Euro parts being enjoyed by an American.
Btw, that sure looks like the west end of Nacimiento-Fergusson. Always seems to be thick overcast when I'm in that neighbourhood

Slo1, that looks like somewhere in the northern Sierra Nevadas. I'm pretty sure it isn't on Sonora Pass and am curious about which route. Give us a hint

my then new 5th gen … was just a magic purchase that was love at first sight.
Thanks for the kind words. My '98 VFR800 replaced a VTR1000F which replaced a '91 VFR750. I loved all three but my fave of all was the yellow '99 VFR800 that replaced it. Much as I love my '09 VTec it hasn't captured my heart. More than once I've perused the want ads looking for another '98-'01 800. Maybe one day…

No worries, the Laser took their cue from the MV Augusta F4 - not a bad role model.
-
Lovely, sunset-at-the-beach shot.
Is that a Laser exhaust set? Unusual in America, methinks.

The shade was thanks to it being 7:30 am on the first of May, and having a mile-high mountain right behind where I am stood.
We had pleasant temperatures during our visit to Death Valley; highs (according to my VFR) were ~34℃ / 93℉, and 19/66° around 7:30 am.
Atop 1660m/5500' Dante's View the morning before it was barely 7/45°.
ps. I wrote about my trip here: https://www.vfrdiscussion.com/index.php?/forums/topic/78012-california-tour-2014/
