    I didn't receive any direct feedback from Traxxion when they called and asked me to pay for the rebuild fee, and I didn't ask as the kid on the phone didn't sound like he'd have answers. Waiting to see if there's info in the box when it returns, but mostly I'm just looking forward to having it back and usable.

    My new S22 tires arrived yesterday and I'm itching to try them out.

    Weird, my Hyperpro shock also blew its seal when my VFR had the SC. I removed it from the bike and had it rebuilt by Hyperpro in Netherlands after which I sold it to a friend of Roy’s in Australia…

  2. I hope it’s OK to continue the MBD confessions and I hope Leon won’t get mad at me too much for hijacking his thread 🙂

    Here is number 9 bike in my garage, a ‘23 Honda CB750 Hornet. Why did I buy it? Because after retiring, I decided to take all my bikes to my parents house in a coastal vacation town by the Eagean Sea called Cesme since I live there most of the time. I bought a 21 m2 container to store them (picture attached). I also have a motorcycle trailer but I didn’t fancy taking a particular bike back and forth to Istanbul too much when I go back there. The ingenious solution? Buy another bike to keep in Istanbul of  course 🤪. I checked the Turkish version of Craig’s List for a cheap second hand bike and I must admit, I looked at the 6th gen VFRs but the deal on the Hornet was too good to pass. It was actually the same price as a very clean red ‘05 VFR that I was checking (just like my old one). I also always fancied a naked/standard lightweight middle class bike as I love the combination of right amount of power and ease of use in a lightweight package.

    Within 5 minutes of taking the delivery of the bike I knew that it was the right choice. So much so that decided to take it to a 7 day tour of Dolomites in Italy over my KTM SA-S. It was the easiest bike to ride in the tight mountain roads and huge fun. The whole trip was around 4000 kms and the bike performed quite good even on the highways (though the KTM would’ve been much more comfortable)…

    Since I was going to spend the summer in Cesme after the tour, I decided to bring the Hornet here as well. No point in keeping it alone in Istanbul right? I wonder if I should look for a clean red 6th gen (red of course) for Istanbul. Number 10 is a nice round number after all 😝

  3. I read about Miguel’s decision to close the site about 3 weeks ago and I couldn’t come back here to even write a thank you post. It seems like all the things I loved from the 90s (print motorcycle magazines) and early 2000s are being phased out and I really dislike that feeling.

    I sold my VFR1200 back in 2017 when I purchased my KTM SA-S but I still came back to read posts every now and then. I could see the activity was significantly less than before, and I always chalked that up to the “emergence” of social media. However it’s also a result of Honda giving up on the V4 concept as well as Miguel stated in his post.

    I now understand that the site will be around longer (whew!) and other people have volunteered to help which makes me very happy. I hope this site lives on since I think it’s a lovely place with great people who love sharing their knowledge and experiences. Paypal is banned in Turkey (long and stupid story) but I’d be willing to try Patreon (I think that works) to donate to this site to help in any way I can.

    Thank you so much Miguel for this incredibly long run and thank you all VFRD members!

  4. We did converse through your build and I could see that you were undertaking a very complex project but when I finally read this thread… Wow, I mean, wow, my mind is blown!

    I had to go back and read the posts several times to even start to comprehend what you did to the stock kit. Excellent work, great craftmanship, beautiful bike….

    At least I can claim to have contributed to your success. I did buy the kit in the first place 🤪

    So yes, I did say supercharger on that list... crazy story in itself... it was purchased new by VFRD member Arrow in Istanbul, Turkey. He installed it and had it tuned in the Netherlands where it pulled 202hp on that particular dyno. He later removed it and sold it to another VFRD member zRoyz in Australia where it sat on a shelf for a few years. Roy listed it for sale in a VFR fb group and somehow it didn't sell for months, even though the price was good. I happened to see the listing months later when someone bumped the topic, and I jumped on it. That was back in 2016 or 17... I was happy to just own the kit and wasn't too fussed about installing it as I considered it an investment at the time.

    Crazy story time... I dug the kit out of its hidey hole in my garage to look it over when I got into this rebuild. It was an odd time of the day, I hadn't touched it the kit in literally years and so I was pretty disturbed when I woke up the next morning to see I had received a fb message from Murray(phantom here) informing me that Roy had been in an accident during a group ride and did not survive his injuries. The crazy thing is, after calculating the time difference, I was looking through the kit and reflecting on how it came to my possession at the same time the accident occurred. I got the feeling it was my sign to go all out and throw the kit and the full kitchen sink at the bike, and bring it to the VFRD Spring ride to get it in front of Roy's online friends and do a burnout …

    I didn’t know Roy passed away, he was such a pleasant gentleman. May he rest in peace 😔

    Took the F2 of commuting duty, bringing her back to OEM for an impending sell. Deep clense, remove rack and some decals.

    With the Morini not finished yet, redslut 2.0 is called into action 🙂

    Sorry to hear that the VF is going to go. Are you trying to reduce the size of your garage?

  7. That’s awesome Leon, I’m so happy for you. I loved the Redslut and I was sad to see it torn to pieces. I’ve a soft spot for 4th gen VFRs and this one looks great. I guess I’ll have to go back a few more pages than I did in this topic to see the story.

    Here’s my new V4 which I bought as a retirement present to myself; a 2021 Ducati Panigale V4S:

    Hi Leon, I’ve not been here for months and I tried to check the earlier posts but I couldn’t see anything from you regarding a new VFR750. Is this your new VFR750?

    I’ve also have a new V4 by the way but I’ll wait for your response before I share the picture…

    I also have an AbbaStand, I really like mine. I purchased the front lift arms and the motoglide options so that I can move my ZX-7R around the garage with its both wheels off the ground.

  10. Still on, still strong, still surprising me and random hayabusa's :)

    I have Some 20.000 km on it now, and to be honest, I have been toying with breaking the 200whp for some time now, but life gets in the way every winter. But I feel I'm getting closer to actually getting it done! First step is the TYGA headers in pre production :)

    It is a damn good combo, V-four, "supercharger" and the sheep's clothes ;)

    Is there a place for a small intercooler in there somewhere? Would it help if you could install one?

  11. I was sent an SMS by Honda Turkey about a month ago about the driveshaft issue. I immediately called my dealer who told me that the parts weren't yet in the country and that I should check with him later. I called him again two days ago and he told me to bring the bike over; as he's very close to my house I took the bike there right away. Two hours later I got a call from him saying that my shaftdrive was going to be replaced and that the parts would take a day to arrive. I'm now waiting for him to call me as the part was supposed to arrive today and the replacement shall be done right away. I'll keep you guys posted...

    Edit: I rode my bike around in the traffic and went on a ride yesterday. There's much less clatter from the rear end when ridden in high gear, low rpm situations.

  12. No i have no plans to offering kit…. sorry

    I will post more picture and video later

    I think that's wise. A member here (Dan) created a of a supercharger kit for the VFR800s (both 5th and 6th gen) and some people were saying that they'd buy two if he ever started production. He did, and guess what, few people bought one. Granted it was a considerable sum that he was asking for, but I think that kit was easily worth that money. I was one of his customers and it really was a great creation. However I had some problems eminating from my bike (not the kit) and I gave up after a while and sold the bike and the kit seperately.

    I'm always left in awe after I see talented and knowledgable people create stuff like this. Looking forward to seeing more of your work...

  13. Hello guys,

    I've installed a shiftlight/knock sensor combo on my bike. I'm a bit confused as to where to draw the pulse for the shiftlight function though. As far as I understand it is connected to the ground wire of the ignition coils.

    I'm just adding a scan from the service manual to make sure I understand correctly.

    post-5871-0-99195200-1348690664.jpg

    So is this where the pulse is taken from (for the shiftlight)? It seems there are two seperate ground wires on the coil, which one would I choose?

    I really hate to bump this but I need help and I haven't been able to find anything of any use in the internet so far...

  15. I had my standard forks upgraded by HK in Holland. Using CBR600F4 innards, one fork tube handles the compression, the other rebound. The springs are Eibach (I think) and valving was done by HK based on my weight, my riding style and types of roads we have here in Turkey. I removed my forks and sent them to my buddy in Holland, who took them to HK so the exact details like spring rate, oil weight etc escape me which I'm terribly embarrassed to say. Here are the pictures:

    Guess who made them :-)

    I got me some fancy adjusters (compression on the left, rebound on the right)

    I'd love to get upsidedownies and upgrade the brakes as well, but I don't want to loose the ABS like Ciprinakos. The roads in Turkey are slippery (lots of dust owing to ongoing constructions as well as low qualtiy asphalt) so I want the safety net of ABS. But then I also installed a Torocharger to my bike so I'm not the most coherent thinking man in VFRD.

  16. Brushed aluminum faces backlit with blue leds and an acumen DG-8 Gear indicator shoe horned where the neutral light goes.

    what do ya think?

    I like it a lot, especially the integrated gear indicator, that's so neat!. How'd you manage that? I want to get a gear indicator myself but I don't like how they have to be attached on top of the cockpit and this really is a neat solution.

  17. My to do list:

    * Front end modification with CBR600F4i rebound adjustment transplant (I already have Racetec Compression Valve and Hyperpro progressive springs in there) and Racetec Rebound Valves

    * New cush drive, sprockets and chain

    * New tyres

    * Carbon rear hugger

    * Oil change

    * Billet oil filter (http://www.hsperformanceparts.com)

    * 98-99 VFR headers

    * 5th gen. right side radiator

    * Brake fluid change accompanied by Kevlar brake lines

    * Torocharger! (I hope the fifth customer shows up soon :happy: )

    * Boost gauge, shift light, with gear indicator (if there is such a thing, if not just the shift light)

    I am also looking at Bitubo shock absorbers front and back for my '88 Vespa PX200 but, that might have to wait for another year depending on the price.

  18. ...

    However, if you're used to the VFR powerband, and are looking for more power, this kit does give you more oomph at all rpms, with an insane amount coming from midrange on up. It makes a great bike even better, and really puts on smile on your face when you crank on the throttle.

    Hope that helps.

    Heck, I haven't even ridden a SC'ed VFR yet and it already puts a huge grin on my face. I can't even imagine what riding one would be like :cheerleader:

  19. 170 does sound a bit high, but when you're posting higher numbers than modified 1000s, you know the supercharger is doing its job. Not bad for a bike equipped with the stock cat-equipped header. wink.gif

    Just for reference, on my dyno the '04 ZX-10R we're building a kit for put out 150hp (with a full exhaust & other tricks), and a bone stock '08 GSX-R1000 laid down 152hp, so the 160hp run with my VFR sounds in line with Mark's 170hp run on a different dyno.

    The only thing that really matters, though, is what it feels like ripping through the gears...

    I actually had a dream last night where it was announced, in your website, that the 6th gen. kit was finally ready. How is that ZX10 kit coming along? I am asking because I hope when you are done with it, you can start the 6th gen. kit. Come on Toro, the USD is at an all time low here, I could tell my wife that it is a very smart buy (it actually is, but I don't think she will buy into this arguement :fing02: )...
