  1. Worth noting, the width of the dogbone is less important than the width(length) of the steel bushes that ride in the bearings. The bushes are what set the spacing of the link plates. The aluminum dogbone just carries the bearings and sets the spacing.
  2. Referencing data I collected for my 2005 build, but it may be of some help: My stock 6g dogbone was spaced 115mm center to center. I replaced it with a CBR600F3 dogbone which was otherwise equal, but spaced at 110mm. The 5mm difference resulted in a swingarm angle change of -1.7 degrees. I have drawn up a couple new versions and will be machining a few new parts with even smaller spacing over this winter. I am making this effort to further increase my swingarm droop to combat rear suspension squat under acceleration.
  3. I'm very sorry to hear of this tragic loss to you Darryl, and the VFR community. I am willing and able to make & engrave a commemorative plate/plaque for your header build Darryl. You know where to reach me when you're ready. Godspeed Lance & best wishes to all affected.
  4. If you decide to fix the wheel, we have a member here that specializes in it. @cruzinaz Website: https://www.nuwheel.com/ Ask for Kent Can't wait to see full completed pics!
  5. I ran mine without the spacer for a bit. I didn't like the excessive play and the noise of the bracket smacking back and forth. Over time, the steel locator can wear on the aluminum caliper bracket, so I made the spacer and started including them. The Extreme Creations kit does not articulate the way the oem setup does. I tried to fix that in my version to make it a little better.
  6. I wish I was able to do that at home... I put that tire on right before heading to Tennessee for a week. I was halfway into the wear bars at 800-ish miles, and the left outer edge sipes disappeared at just over 1000mi. They were very, very fun miles... 😀
  7. That wheel looks awesome! And -7lb is great!! The forged Marchesini/Brembo 1098 wheel I am using weighs 9lb. What made you decide against using the caliper bracket insert?
  8. So... 150+ non-electronically tamed horses sound fun, until you have to replace rear tires every 1000 miles...
  9. I forgot to mention, that's an old pair of Icon gloves that have titanium knuckle plates. I was trying to get a pic with sparks coming off my knuckles & knees.
  10. Riding the best roads in the country, again
  11. Thank you Did you measure the length vs the stock side stand? It would be nice to know
  12. Interesting, thanks. Did you try fitting the CBR stand to the VFR bracket first?
  13. It was mostly empty, so not too bad. I only mounted it to use the backrest for a 2up ride, it's off again now.
  14. The suspension revisions are working well so far
  15. So, the shock felt better on my test ride, although still not quite as good as it was before. I was hoping that was due to the tires being worn, but after fitting the new S22's it still did not feel right. Turn-in was lacking and the rear was compressing too much under acceleration. This made the handling suffer especially when exiting corners. So, out with the new and in with the old... A real shame as the gloss red 1200lb spring was a better match for my red paint, but oh well.
  16. That is weird... it feels good and fresh after a rebuild though!
