  1. Thank you for posting this fix. I ordered the part and made the fix, such a simple solution to something that’s bugged me for a whole season! I always appreciate the posts and experience of others! Zubin ’04 Asphalt
  2. +1 on the why? Enjoy the view above the windscreen and listen to the sound of that beautiful engine.... So, really I am no help here....
  3. Yes! Yes! Cutting the exhaust down gave me room to mount horizontal without it being "obstructed license plate" Yes! they are on using the OEM bike mount and they are wired as running lights while the bike is on. Yes! painted black actually, I am 6'3" and I do not look out of the windshield so it was an easy choice. it also eliminates a lot of glare on the cluster. No... same wheels just more dirt in the second set. Lastly, cutting the OEM exhaust has dropped enough weight in the back that the slow speed handling has been greatly improved. (but still not as awesome as riding around with an open cat no cans) -Drew The shield looks good - details please on your process and paint.... It was just a rattlecan for plastic from Home Depot. Make sure you do your proper paint prep process, scuff sand the plastic wipe with alcohol or cleaning solution and apply several thin coats and it will look fine. I am a painter at work so of course when i got home I didn't have what I needed and ended up taking shortcuts and finishing with fisheyes on one of the corners, I'll re prep and do another coat some other time. -Drew Thanks, now I'm off to find a spare OEM shield to work on. You only paint the inside of the shield, correct? :)

  5. I just thought I'd share a simple little timesaver I use when doing oil changes on my '04 6th Gen. Like many on here, I only remove the right side fairing when doing my oil change, but I used to find it a PITA if I ever mixed up any of the fairing bolts when replacing the fairing. I finally found the perfect solution for me: I use little cylinder shaped rare earth magnets and attach them to the LEFT side fairing bolts. As I remove each RIGHT side fairing bolt, I simply stick it to the corresponding bolt on the LEFT side. Once the oil change is done, I simply locate the bolt I want and reattach it. No more frustration. The magnets are available almost anywhere. I just happened to pick mine up at both Princess Auto (Canada) and Lee Valley Tool (Can/US). Hope this tip helps someone else.pic from Lee Valley Added..
  6. Definitely a case of "Better Late Than Never...."I'd just like to thank everyone on the site who posted information about the Canadian component of the 6th Gen wiring harness recall. As an owner of an '04, i realized that this was a recall notice that I never got verified as affecting my bike (my fault completely). On June 21, 2011, I dropped into my new favorite local Honda dealer, Honda Extreme, in Edmonton and asked them to run my VIN. I brought along a copy of the recall notice and link from a member of VFRD. I got immediate service. In two minutes, my VIN was accepted for an inspection booking anytime I wanted to drop the bike off. The inspection would be done and, if needed, arts ordered and the recall service performed. I brought my bike back on June 22nd mid afternoon. At 1630h today, June 24th, I got verification that the inspection was complete, parts were ordered, and recall service completed. The bike is ready for pickup. Charge: $0.00 Thank you VFRD members! And if anyone is listening, thank you Honda Extreme for great service, again!
  7. Anyone care to post a "How to Install the Stebel Nautilus" guide for those of us (probably just me!) who are less technically minded in things electrical? I got one for Christmas and I want to install it next month. Pleeez!
  8. Zub, I'm also from Edmonton. Would definately ride my 02 to Saskatoon too to get them installed as well. Well now, that makes 3 in Edmonton - I was talking to Travis this weekend and he's up for the install as well. It'd be great to ride out with company! Now, off to look at that coolant bottle!
  9. Ken & Radar (Darren), Congrats on what seems to be an awesome product and installation. I'm completely impressed with the machining and the thought that went into the design. I would ride my '04 to Saskatoon and pay for a full install if that is ever a service that Radar offers. Well done guys! Zub
