  1. I’m a dunlop guy as well. I’ve been riding them for decades. Every time I’ve swapped for something else, because of pricing, i regret it, and end up buying dunlops anyway. Arguments with people about tire sizes usually end the conversation. I ride roadsmarts to ntecs, and just cant find anything that is more intuitive in a tire than the dunlops. (Wish I were sponsored for them 😁) i would also check your wheel bearings, and brakes. Sometimes you can have stiction from pads not releasing from the rotors(need pucks popped and cleaned), and sometimes you could have the wrong spacers on the wheels incorrectly, and/or, your spindle is too tight. Tires aren’t the only variable. When weather permits, dig in and check these things out.. good luck and report back.
oh ya… some shops also put tires on backwards… just puttin it out there…

Well I sure hope I know better now, buoght a bike I consider a find.

1992 Honda CBR600 F, bike is issued in spring 1993, has had 2 owners before me, second of them has had it for 29 years! It has 41k kms, tires need replacement thro as they are Dunlop D220 from 2004/2006 that has tread like new. Bike is like new, runs great. Did testride it before the buy.

I didn't get the bike home until today through, reason is I had nothing to bring it home as I did go to see it and after that I had a wrist operation, left hand this time, so no bike ride for me in a while, but a friend was kind enough to ride it home for me.

Finally in my garage and wait for me to ride it! Well fresh tires first. The oil you see next to front wheel is from the FJ fork leg, it been moved closer to wall so the CBR fits in. Will take the oil from there as I can, the CBR front tire will be charged before a ride so no worry's.

D220 on the cbr?! BLASPHEMY! Lol

i ran those on my GIXXER1100 back in the day. Never on my cbrs 😁

    i love old tire stories

  3. With Plastic repair, please keep in mind the area in which you do the work. The smoke fumes aren't to be inhaled, and nobody else should be near you. 😁 as for the abs, don't use the solid core. Use the foam core stuff. It gets more pliable, and is easier to use. I've never used the acetone trick. I may try that. Good luck. From the sounds of it, YOU are ok. Nice job on bein a ninja😁

VFR's afik, are all shim-under-bucket.  Being a little loose is better than tight, but more noisy.  As valves slam into seats year after year, they seat deeper and the clearance gets tighter. The lash could eventually get tight enough that it prevents the valve from sealing and you end up with a burned valve.  I don't think I've ever seen a VFR engine that burned a valve.  We have Baileyrock's zillion mile engine and now 3rdgenred's that haven't been checked and are probably tight, but they keep going and going and going.

I actually have spares, new valve seals & valves, rings, carb rebuild kits engine gaskets…  everything to do the work. It’s coming. I just haven’t committed the time. Lol

Stripped my 2014 Gen 8 Bare and removed cam covers to check valve clearances. No service history when I purchased 2 years ago come Feb 1st. Made up some vtec slide pin stoppers from a 6mm drill bit. Only done the rear pair of cylinders so far but all 8 valves are out of spec. Beginning to think this is the first time they were checked. 61kms on the clock. More to come.

I checked my original 1990 vfr valves @ 15k. I never went back in. Now at 242,000 miles, I’m thinkin about checking them again

  6. Purchased yet another 1990 Vfr a couple years ago (it was in the back of an automotive shop) I finally got it shipped here before Christmas this year, and am going through it. The brakes, front and rear were drained, clutch drained, fuel drained, antifreeze drained, oil drained. Bled everything with new fluids, went to start it and i lol, the floats are stuck, fuel everywhere.🤦🏻‍♂️ Back at it tomorrow😇
