The sound level on Supertrapps was adjustable by removing or adding discs. If it's too loud take some discs out.

I'm not much of a believer in what kind of tripe the government spews.

Attack of the ethanol demons.

Those things went missing on several bikes I own. Just weight that's not needed and no discernible noise increase, unless you were using a sensitive instrument to measure with.

You have an overall (db) limit to stay under for the bike to pass EPA (or equivalent) requirements. ANYTHING you can do to save some noise can be spent elsewhere and the loud gear drives are eating up a bunch. You can then "spend" some (db) on things like intake and exhaust to help make the power you want. It's also part of the reason they put in heavy spring loaded split gears on the cams.
No spring loaded gears here:
If I ever get into the engine on mine those gears won't be spring loaded afterwards.

I have no ethanol premium in my pressure washer and it's been in there for years. Never had an issue with starting or running, other than when I forget to turn the ignition on.

The biggest thing to be concerned with is ethanol fuel. It doesn't take long for it to draw water. If you have it I would drain it out of the tank and carbs and leave the cap off the tank to dry. I always use no ethanol fuel unless I'm on a trip and can't find any. In that case I figure it won't do any harm as it's going right through the tank. It's sitting around with ethanol in the fuel that does the harm.
Keep the battery topped off and I wouldn't start the bike during it's slumber as that just puts moisture into the engine and oil. It's also best to change the oil before putting the bike up for the winter as that will get rid of the old oil with the acids and contaminants in it and give everything a good coating of fresh oil.

I’m seeing a lot of posts about what exhaust cans to get for the system. Here’s my two. Cents.
Long time ago FMF racing made a dual can system for these bikes, those days are long gone. What I was able to do and research is that any exhaust system off of a similar year Yamaha R1 can be fitted up to a custom splitter pipe. Which sfdownhill fabricated for my particular project
I wasn’t expecting him to knock this completely out of the park with such an awesome fabricated job.
Tell us some more about this sfdownhill. All I got from searching was skateboard stuff. That's some mighty fine workmanship.

I saw a 4th gen on utube yesterday that the guy was selling and it had a carbon fiber front fender on it. I'm pretty sure the fenders are the same for the 3rd and 4th gens. He couldn't remember where he got it and I haven't been able to find one searching. Does anyone here have a line on one?
