  1. I have an RF1200 L with upgraded thicker crown pads that hugs the face ohh so nice... But man I tried on the K6 & K6S and love how light they are. I would have the K6S in L only if they offered thicker pads as it rotates a bit too much, and the M is a no go. Shame they axed the MS/ML sizing from the K6 (ML fit me *perfectly*), else I would have tossed my Shoei this past summer. Enjoy the lid!
  2. AirTech Streamlining hooked me up. They make fiberglass/carbon fairings for nearly every bike in existence. Made in USA, and the folks there are legendary for their work on speed record bikes. They are located just outside San Diego
  3. Got hit from behind & insurance is making you feel some kind of way? Buddy slam dunked your ride out of the parking lot and just perfectly bent your frame? Ship me your entire 8th Gen front end! 😆 I'm looking to convert my beloved 5th gen to a 6th gen triple clamp & 8th gen forks, brakes, wheel & splashguard. You too can partake in my never-ending desire to modify this bike from *barely* this century! Prefer pickup in Houston, TX. Will drive in a ~300 mile radius.
  4. Sup VFR-Nerds! Pro Tip: If you want something on ebay (Say, a Brembo brake master cylinder 😁), and the seller does not allow for the "Make Offer" button, simply "Add to Wishlist" and wait a few days. I have had luck on sellers dropping 10-20% for a "Private Offer" on many items I have wishlisted. Just watch your email. Shiny side up, Rubber side down!
  5. Whoever is performing the archive, I am more than willing to setup a NAS at home to host an offsite backup image/mirror. DM me. I've dabbled in computer networking before, and I could make it so. --- EDIT: I may be able to use this FOSS tool called "HTTrack" and make my own mirror of the site. - I'll determine the size of the download, and I'll be off to buy a buncha hard drives. - I'll likely perform the task within a VM so I can work the process in tandem. I dont have many CPU cores, but It may help ++ If anybody has an ET for the hard sunset of the site, PLEASE let me know so I can gage how much time is remaining to get this done. It will accelerate my decisions.
  6. I'd be more than willing to spit up a monthly fee to keep this knowledge base memorialized. How's that archiving going?
  7. Well done! Thank goodness my tank did not have scurvy like yours 😄 Thanks for the free knowledge!
  8. Woahohoho Count me in as wanting to follow this project! I cannot provide insight into the vfr1200 used parts market, but I'm certain someone in here can!
  9. That intake noise ought to sound heavenly
  10. I've seen this build before on FB and instagram... killer looks, but I struggle to believe it even exists just because of the gorgeous quality of the photos (no casual phone shots - all professional). And there's no pic of the guy riding/ revving it, which is a sin on its own. ...maybe I'm just jealous too....
  11. Woah... better you than me to tackle that carb job!
  12. You and I have similar definitions for "office job" 😁 I work at the SD waterfront on the 'sneaky ship'. Turbines in enclosed spaces are not quiet, so I can empathize... but on a CVN flight deck?! That must have been intense... all the more impressive flex to maintain an excellent audiogram! My RF-1200 is good for ~3 hours of wind/catless v4/solo karaoke... much longer and I reach for the bag-o-plugs I keep in my tank bag
  13. to be fair... it is good practice to ride with earplugs in. That wind can be deafening and distracting. Can only lose your hearing once! ...but yes... you shouldn't HAVE to ride with them.
  14. After wrecking this March, this week I placed an order for new fiberglass fairings from AirTech, then took off all her clothes to assess further damages & knock out a few small items off the punch list (LED flasher unit, removing the resistors, LED plate light, inspect sparkies, clean clean clean, etc) Tried to fire her up. Starter motor spun great, but the beast did not sing. Grabbed the can-o-fire and sprayed into the intake, and she sputtered alive for a moment. Sparks and coils must be good, but my fuel may have gone bad after sitting for nearly 6 months with ~2 starts just to keep the blood moving. Will investigate more when I find more garage time. + Also ordered R&G frame sliders for when life happens next time.
  15. Quality advice here! Two of mine sheared off. Guess 20 years did a number on the metallurgy.
  16. Hi Ughandi, Thank you for your donation of 10.00 USD. We look forward to improving the forums with your donation. Thanks VFRDiscussion
  17. Oh I agree. Just adding another option to the convo. Unlinked mine with custom length Hel. Only regret is not spec-ing the rear brake line long enough to run through the swingarm like the cool kids
  18. Another option is to heat-wrap the headers if you *really* hate working with dot4... but then you miss out on the shiney bits.... I am an Li believer. Save a cool 7lbs without changing your diet? Yes please!
  19. I have had quite some seat time in a buddy's 14... I was amazed by how effortless it was to go oh so fast...
  20. Hi Ughandi, Thank you for your donation of 5.00 USD. We look forward to improving the forums with your donation. Thanks VFRDiscussion
