  1. I purchased these boots for AUD$242 in July 2016 so they are three months short of 8years old. Have been very happy with them in all respects. The boots have held up very well apart from the soles which started to deteriorate rapidly about 12 months ago. I only noticed because they became very slippery even on my pebblecrete driveway. Have done approximately 50,000km in them. As you can see from the photos if not for the soles they look like they had another 8 years in them. Replaced them today with some DriRider Storm 2 boots for AUD$199.

I’ll be happy if I get 5 years out of them. I liked the Dainese Fulcrum GT’s BUT I’m not paying $570 for them even though I’m sure they are excellent.

  2. Hi Grum,

My computer undoubtedly doesn’t meet the requirements. However my TV is only six months old and certainly does, it supports the MotoGP and Kayo ect without any problems.

What I don’t understand is why I couldn’t watch today’s practice on my iPad or find the app when searching the App Store on the TV, it brings up the MotoGP app and the F1 app but not SBK.

I looked on a couple of other forums and it seems to be a common issue, opinion seems to be that it is a terrible app.

Thanks for the suggestions though Grum.

  3. I subscribed to the SBK Video Pass (for the first time ever) this morning at a cost of €69.90. I downloaded the app to my iPad, tried to download it on my Sony Bravia TV but it isn’t showing up when I search the App Store on the TV. On my (old) computer I get a “not available for this device “ message.

The main problem is on my iPad I am still unable to watch the practice sessions from today. The app is free so what did I actually pay for. I have had no issues on previous years with the Moto GP Video Pass. What if anything am I missing? Thanks for any enlightenment you can shed on this issue.

How much saké did you partake in??

I got really, as in really drunk in Ropingi (sp?) some 30+ years ago.... :beer:KAMPAI!

Hi Dutchy, nearly correct on the spelling mate it’s actually Roppongi (don’t worry I had to check myself) we went there a few years ago but not this year.

I did partake of some sake last night actually, I tried a sampler selection and they were all very good, didn’t get drunk though.

Excellent stay stay stay!!!. Tell them you'll take it for a ride to give it some good exercise, explain that this would be extremely beneficial for the bike.:wheel:

Hi Grum, I will definitely try to convince my wife that this is the place we should stay (it’s about 30metres from her favourite restaurant) As for taking it for a ride, probably wouldn’t be very beneficial for it at all with me riding and several inches (or feet) of snow on the ground 🫣🥶

I actually managed to get a short ride in yesterday on the Triumph. Have been laid up for about three weeks recovering from an operation (nothing serious) and then it’s been raining most days, finally had some blue skies. Nice little cafe on the beach front.

Hope you are keeping well Grum.

Well, in that case I can't resist posting a few more NZ photos. Sorry, I was on an RT, not a VFR, but not that different from your ST.

I'm sure you know this tunnel:

tried the rubberband/zip tie trick on the lever, for a day, without any success. I can’t understand how that would really work, so wasn’t expecting much

Pressure causes any air bubbles to reduce in size, making it easier for them to rise up through the brake lines. Have never done this myself but am told it does work.

If we're talking cars, my 2018 Miata I bought new just over four years ago has over 55,000 miles on it now.  I know that isn't impressive for the average car or truck, but a Miata?  Hardly anyone daily drives a Miata year-round, especially in NE Ohio.  So yeah, I kind of proud of it.  😄

Well my wife’s Miata can beat you on the mileage but unfortunately loses dismally on the time it took to accrue them. 2001 NB with 110,000 KM on the clock. No major issues yet. Although from the rotten egg smell we occasionally get when we park it in the garage I think it needs a new catalytic converter.

Hi Phil. Are you looking at doing the chain replacement yourself? For info

Yamaha World in S.A. Have the Gold/Black D.I.D.525VX3 124 link chain for $144.99 delivered, a great chain but you will need to cut off links to get the chain to 110 links inclusive of the master link.

    Cheers.:fing02:

Thanks for that Grum, I won’t be doing it myself but I use an ex Honda mechanic who will be happy for me to supply the chain and sprockets, and the best part is he charges very reasonable rates AND is happy for me to watch and learn. Great bloke whose (nick) name is Grub.

  10. Cleaned, lubed and adjusted the chain which now has 40,500km on it (original chain) I think it is finally giving in, I noticed a couple of O rings that are starting to fail. Still I’m pretty happy with its mileage. Just starting to wear on the rear sprocket, front will of course be worse so will replace both.

  11. After 200km this morning I agree, I couldn’t feel any difference at all (wasn’t expecting to though) while the intake/engine noise is louder it isn’t annoying, just sounds a bit deeper. I will leave the snorkel off for now and see how I feel about it in a few weeks time. It was considerably cooler on the ride this morning (the weather not the bike) a very welcome change after the last few weeks.
Good news is that the job share I applied for 16 months ago has finally been approved and implemented. I will now be doing two weeks on two weeks off so I should get a lot more riding in. First two weeks off starts at the end of the month 🥳
